Five years have passed, and not a single day has gone by when I haven't felt homesick. Every single day, I longed to return to my mother's lap, to play with my little hoor, prank Shahmeer, and annoy my little Sharanvi. And now, tomorrow is the day. The day I will finally graduate and will be able to leave this place. I was over the moon—so happy, I can't even describe it. My heart was bursting with joy as I walked into my apartment. But as soon as I saw Ranbir sitting there, his face blank and tense, something in the air shifted. His face was practically screaming danger.

"What happened?," I asked, sitting beside him. He snapped his gaze toward me, his body stiff as if bracing for impact.

"I accidentally hacked something," he said, his voice tight and filled with unease.

"What?" I asked, completely confused.

"Remember Bérénica?," he asked, his voice cautious.

"Who?," I replied, not a clue who he was talking about.

"The girl who proposed to you," he clarified, and I immediately remembered.

"Oh, that weirdo," I said, shaking my head.

He nodded. "Well, her father is Antoine Belmondo."

I froze. "Wait, what? Mafia baldie is her father?"

He nodded again, and my stomach dropped.

"Yeah, and I don't know how, but I accidentally got access to some things... hidden things. Things no one knows about." He looked at me, his face tense. I could tell he was terrified of what he had stumbled into.

"Wait—hold on. What exactly did you get your hands on?" I asked, my voice dropping, the seriousness of the situation settling in.

"A lot of illegal stuff—human trafficking and drug smuggling," he said, the words heavy in the air. I blinked.

What the hell?

"I got access to the secret sources of their income. We all know he's in the mafia, right? That's nothing new. But the thing is, they're involving innocent people—common people—in their dirty business. They're selling women for sex work," he explained, his voice barely a whisper.

"There is some transferring of woman happening and they would sell them off in 3 days," he completed

I stared at him, completely dumbfounded. "What?"

"And now what? Are we just going to ignore this? What are we doing about it?," I asked, my mind racing.

"Do we have a choice?," he responded, his voice low. "Look, it's risky. We can't just go around exposing this. It's too dangerous."

"So what do we do?," I asked, feeling the weight of the situation.

He shook his head slowly. "I don't know... I really don't."

This was bad. And we were both way deeper than we could have ever imagined. But I couldn't let it go—not now, not after everything I'd just learned.

"Ranbir, there would be some way for sure, we can't let them do this after what we have just got to know," I tried to say, my mind a mess.

"Aviyaan, you are not getting it. It is dangerous and moreover we are here alone anything would happen," He said and he for sure had a point but my mind was already softening at the thoughts of those innocent women who was about to get sold,

"Ranbir, we can post all this information anonymously right?," I asked, he nodded but then shook his head,

"They will got to know about us," He said,

"If we wouldn't try then how would we know," I said,

I snatched the laptop from his lap and started doing what I just suggested, not realizing the consequences of my action. In the heat of the moment I did something terrible that led us to misery and vulnerability, I did not realize what could really happen. I did not acknowledge that there is one more person with me who would get dragged in all of this,

After i was done, I shut down the laptop and went inside the room,

I slept in no time, not realizing that was last peaceful sleep i would have,

I woke up with the chirping of birds and got ready for the day, today is my convocation and then after that tomorrow, finally I would be able to leave this place,

I went out of the room and have my breakfast with little chit chatting with Ranbir and we both then head towards our university, we were enthusiastic to finally end out this tremendously amazing journey,

Everyone in my family knew that I would graduate today but they didn't know that i have my flight for Tomorrow,

After the convocation we both were outside the university When the black Suv pulled up in front of us and two man came out and stuffed us in a car with them, all of this happened so suddenly that we were not even able to understand what just happened and in no time someone sprayed something In Front of our nose and everything turned black.

My eyes opened and a hissed escaped my lips, as I felt unfamiliar surroundings around me, I got alert.

I am tied up on a chair, my head is bursting with pain—why am I here?

"Hey, Is anyone there," I shouted, Ranbir was nowhere around me.

"Hey, where is my friend? Leave me you bastards," I shouted but to no avail,

"Hey, is anyone there?" I shouted, but there was no one to be found,

"Where the hell is my friend?!" I screamed, panic rising in my chest. "Leave me alone, you bastards!" But my words seemed to dissolve into the silence. Then, suddenly, the door creaked open, and a man stepped into the room.

"Who the hell are you?!" I yelled, voice shaking with fury. "Get the hell away from me, you bastard!"

"I see... you're quite the daring one, huh?," The man's voice was dripping with sarcasm, his eyes scanning me like I was just another problem to be solved.

"Why the hell are we here?," I demanded, frustration boiling over.

"Because you decided to play the hero," he shrugged nonchalantly, as if this was just another game for him.

"Listen, young man," he said, his thick French accent lingering in the air. "I don't know how you managed to get your hands on that information, but I need you to hand it over, delete everything. If you do that, I'll leave you be—just like this. But you've got to promise me this: no more of this foolishness."

"Why the hell would I cover for you?!" My blood was boiling now. "You think I'm just going to let you do those illegal things?"

He gave a quiet, almost frustrated sigh. "I didn't want to do this, but you've left me no choice." He tsked, turning toward the door.

As he stepped out, the cold weight of dread settled over me. Something felt wrong—deep in my gut, it felt like something close to me was about to be torn away, ripped from my very soul.

I sat there, alone in the suffocating darkness. The silence was deafening, pressing in on me from every side. It felt like a dungeon—a place where secrets were buried, and I was just another prisoner. And they... they were going to keep me here until I suffocated. Until I was nothing more than a ghost.

Days passed, yet no one came after that man. They kept me here as though I were the prisoner. I wanted to scream, to lash out at someone, but frustration and irritation coursed through me. My family must be waiting for me, even though I hadn't told them about my arrival or the flight. Still, they would know I'd completed my graduation. They must be waiting, worrying, wondering where I was.

Suddenly, the door creaked open. I looked up, expecting to see the same man again, and sure enough, there he stood.

"Tsk tsk, young man," he began, his voice dripping with mock sympathy. "Look at you, so miserable now."

He paused as if something had crossed his mind, then added, "Oh, don't worry about your family. We told them you're fine, so they aren't panicking. See, we're not all bad people." His words felt like a punch to the gut, but I couldn't react—exhaustion weighed me down.

I wanted to shout, to demand answers, but my body felt heavy, my voice barely a whisper. "Where's Ranbir?," I asked, forcing every ounce of strength into my words. Even though I was weak, I refused to let my pride falter. My father had taught me never to bow my head to anyone except God, and I would not lower myself to this man.

"Oh, that guy?" He smirked, his grin widening as if he was savoring my discomfort. "Why don't you come with me and ask him yourself?" He added the last part with a gleam in his eyes, something unsettling, something I couldn't quite place.

He untied me, helping me to my feet, but my legs buckled, too weak to support me. I stumbled, and he caught me before I hit the ground. His grip was cold, firm.

"Let's go," he muttered, pulling me along with surprising force. I tried to gather my strength, to resist, but everything in me felt drained. My head spun as he led me through a maze of hallways, and soon we arrived in a vast, dimly lit hall. The air was thick with tension. Dozens of men stood guard, their eyes fixed on me, watching my every move.

They shoved me into a chair and tied me to it once again. The ropes bit into my wrists, but I didn't have the strength to fight back. I tugged at the bindings, desperate, but the dizziness returned, making my vision blur.

That's when I heard it—voices muffled, coming from somewhere in the shadows. My heart stopped. I lifted my eyes, my breath catching in my throat. There, in the middle of the room, was Ranbir. He was tied up, gagged, and struggling helplessly. A cold chill ran down my spine as I noticed the gun aimed directly at his head.

My senses went numb, my entire world narrowing to that single, horrifying image. It was as if the ground slipped from under me, and I was falling into an abyss, my heart beating wildly as I watched the gun's barrel glint in the low light.

I felt a deep, suffocating fear rise within me

"What are you doing? Leave him!" I felt my senses going numb as they loaded the gun.

"Take me instead. Let him go," I pleaded, my voice shaking with desperation.

"No," the man in the middle sneered, sitting like a king on his throne. "This guy is a threat to us. Not you."

"No, he hasn't done anything!" I protested, but as the words left my mouth, I realized how powerless I truly was in this moment. I wasn't in a position to explain, not anymore.

"Hand over the chip with all the data. And in front of everyone, admit that everything you posted was a lie," he demanded, his voice cold and authoritative.

The weight of the situation pressed on me. If I agreed to his terms, everything I'd worked for would crumble. I'd be implicated in a web of lies, facing jail time or worse, framed for something I didn't do. And worse, I knew this family's power well enough to understand that no one would believe my side of the story.

"Why are you doing this? Leave us alone okay i will hand over the chip but leave him," i said, and he just laughed

"Oh young boy, you don't know how the world works. And let me make one thing clear that no one can save you from me right now. You are in my territory, so either you listen to me or die," he gritted but i did not let my pride wavered just then my sight fell on my something— a big screen in which something is playing, i squinted my eyes as I saw a familiar face and my breath hitched— my hoor

"Oh you caught sight of her this soon?," He tsk,

"Why are you doing this?," by every passing moment i felt my breath stopping and i can die any moment

He marched towards me and hold me by jaw, and gritted his teeth,

"Because you dare to go against me and there is one more reason too," he spat,

Another reason?

"Okay i will do whatever you say," i mustered up the courage to look at my hoor as she was wandering in the markets, looking so happy—so majestic. I Inhaled her presence in me as she was my breath and if I stopped looking at her I would die.

"Oh, okay fine then. But we will not leave your friend," he smiled wickedly at me,

I felt someone opening the knots which was keeping me tied, and i stand up on my feet as someone helped me,

"Kneel down infront of me and ask for forgiveness," He said,

"for what?," I asked,

"You forgot?," I heard a feminine voice and it felt familiar i tried to understand who that voice belong to, but as she came in my view—i immediately recognized her,

"Hello there," She came in front of me,

"You know the day I saw you, I wanted to make you mine," she trailed her forefinger from my head to my jaw and I wiggled to break free from the grip that was holding me from behind, "But you rejected me in front of everyone. You insulted me,"

"Ask for my forgiveness darling or it won't end well with you," She whispered,

"I did not do anything wrong," I controlled my fury,

"See that girl," she pointed out towards the screen, "No, no yet you will not shoot her right now," she gasped and my heart trembled,

"She is in danger," She said

And my feet collapsed on their own and I felt on my knees, i heard Ranbir wailing but i was too numb to even react as my breath was taken away, I looked up at her and she smiled in triumph,

She crouched down In Front of me and whispered, "After you will come out of the jail, marry me or she would die," She winked and left and i felt my nerves hating her to the gut, I've never hated someone as much as i started hating her

After everything, I did what they said and I was imprisoned for three years, and the days in the prison felt like eternity. How much I missed my hoor in the dark of the confined space— My family, my mother, I want to stay close to my family. I want to hug my mother,

"Mama.. thak gaya hun mein, apke paas aana chahta hun, ab bas nahi horha mjhse.... Boht akela hogaya hun mein mama" I was hurt, I did not have any energy left in me to endure anymore,

Days turned into months and months turned into years and i was finally able to get out of this prison,

I was sitting in my area when i felt someone's presence, I looked up to see the same man who came to meet me first,

"Tomorrow, you will be out of the cell and let me tell you, Ma'am is hell bent on marrying you, she changed her name and also she studied your culture. Okay so my point is she will marry you and also that girl I don't know on the screen is still getting tracked. Your one wrong move and she is dead, beware of all this things," He said looking here and there,

"Why are you telling me this," I asked, confused.

"Because I know you were not at fault, still you are here suffering from something you never did," He said, and then took a deep breath, "I will prepare fake documents for your marriage so you. I know you don't want to marry her—you love someone else," he completed and I was not able to trust this man,

"Why Would you do this for me?," I asked,

"I don't know, I just know that I did not help you now then I won't be able to do forgive myself," He said and left leaving me dumbfounded,

After that I came out of the cell and as that man told me, she took my signature by threatening me about my hoor's life and I was left helpless. No one was with me when I needed the shoulder lean on. This girl became the bone in my throat which I can't swallow and neither can spit it out.
