After coming from operation, when I ordered coffee at the cafe and checked my phone, I saw numerous missed calls from this crazy woman. Without wasting a single minute, I immediately called her back.
"This is how you treat me now, Ayesha?" came her frustrated voice from the other end.
"I was in the ICU, Aleena," I replied with utter calmness.
"So, Doctor Sahiba, what new life has entered the world today?" Aleena asked excitedly, her frustration vanished in seconds.
"You won't believe what happened today," I began with excitement.
"What happened?" Aleena asked, her curiosity peaking now.
"For the first time in my career as a gynecologist, I delivered twins, Aleena! And they were so cute, both baby boys weighing 3 kg each. They are so small yet so chubby." I exclaimed with happiness.
"Oh my god, congratulations Ayesha! I hope the mom and babies are healthy," Aleena said with pure concern and happiness.
"Of course, all are fine," I said with a smile, remembering those chubby babies.
"So why did you give me so many missed calls? And don't tell me you've gotten yourself into another trouble?" I asked sternly as my coffee arrived.
"Do you think I'm like Jasmine, Ayesha?" she said with pure disappointment.
"Don't talk to me about her, Aleena" I said as I took a sip of my coffee.
"Why? What happened? Did you both have a fight again?" she asked, confused.
"No, we didn't, and that's what's bothering me. That dangerous woman isn't picking up my calls. I've been trying since morning," I said with frustration.
"I think she's still not over that failure," Aleena said, taking her support.
"Come on, Aleena, she's just misusing her talent," I said with annoyance.
"I still don't get it. If she wanted to be a hacker, she should join some cybercrime unit instead of committing the crime of hacking other's systems." I completed my complain.
"That's why you shouldn't leave her. Keep trying to call her," came Aleena's concerned voice.
"And what about you? Spill it now. Why did you call me?" I asked, being done with her.
"I can only tell, when you let me speak, Ayesha," Aleena said sternly.
"You're telling?" I asked, ignoring her taunt.
"Do you remember the deal I cancelled with a company three years ago? And Jasmine had saved all my data with a very strong password," she started explaining. I was listening carefully until my eyes met the person walking towards my table.
For a second, everything around me blacked out when I saw him.
My eyes instantly went up to glance at his face, then to his veiny hands. Why can't he wear full-sleeve clothes? I thought, seeing those veins that could give anyone a mini heart attack.
And his height, how can he be so tall? And just why on earth does he have so much effect on my heart?
He is your enemy, Ayesha, I reminded myself. But this man has no shame; he simply sat in front of me and got engrossed in his phone. Wow, not even a hi? But why am I expecting it from him?
"Ayesha, are you there?" My thoughts broke when Aleena's voice returned to my ears.
"Ye-yes, I am listening, Aleena," I stuttered, and I badly regretted it.
"What were you saying?" I tried my best to listen to her, but each time I looked at him, it was getting even more difficult to focus on the call. Dr. Zaid, aka Mr. Rude, was sitting right in front of me. I don't want to look at him, but my eyes! They betray me each time he is around me.
"I met that CEO on the plane, and he has so much grudge against me, Ayesha," Aleena said with utter shock.
"Are you serious? He still remembers you?" I asked her instantly.
"And I hope you didn't tell him anything about you," I was actually reassuring myself here.
"Actually," she started, and my heart started pumping with fear.
"I told him who I am," came her innocent voice.
"Why, Aleena? Why don't you use your mind? What if he does something to you?" I shouted at her. Hearing my fiery voice, he instantly looked up at me, and I quickly lowered my gaze.
"You're crazier than Jasmine, Aleena. At least she doesn't reveal her identity. And you? You just brought trouble upon yourself with your own hands?" I whispered yet yelled at her.
"Don't worry, Ayesha. If he does something, I'll half-murder him, and then you can save him with a warning. That's it," came her illogical explanation.
"Wow, great," I exclaimed, being absolutely done with her.
"Leave that mafia and tell me when you are coming to India," she asked with excitement.
"I'll be in India by tomorrow morning, but tell me, who is this mafia now?" I asked, confused by her new drama.
"That CEO! He said he is a mafia," Aleena said casually.
"You surely don't want me to live in peace, right? You talked to a mafia, Aleena?" I asked, utterly frustrated and feeling the urge to break something right now.
"Calm down, Miss Angry Woman. He's a fake mafia, but a handsome one," she said. And I am so sure that she is literally blushing there.
"Are you for real, Aleena? You're there for your engagement, and you're liking a fake mafia?" I taunted her about her forced engagement.
"Don't ruin my mood, Ayesha. Each turn the car takes towards the mansion, my heart is beating with uneasiness here," she said, her tone serious yet tinged with fear.
"Don't worry, Jasmine and I will come by morning. However the engagement is tomorrow evening. Let's hope for the best," I assured her.
"Please, come soon. I can't handle myself," Aleena said, and I smiled at her request.
She feels more like my little sister than my best friend.
"Reach there and call me," I said and ended the call, and looke up only to see him staring deep into my eyes.
Blink, Ayesha, I reminded myself, but my betraying eyes never listen to me.
We were intensely staring at each other when I suddenly remembered our yesterday's incident. The soft spot I was starting to have for him vanished instantly, replaced by anger.
I got up, breaking his gaze, and was about to leave the cafe when his cold, deep, incredibly dangerous voice reached my ears.
"I want to talk to you," he said sternly.
"But I don't want to talk to you, Dr. Zaid," I said through gritted teeth.
"I'm sorry," Mr. Rude said, something I never expected him to say.
"Pardon me? What did you just say?" I asked in utter shock.
"I. AM. SORRY. DR. AYESHA." He pressed each word with his deep voice. My face was expressionless, but I was literally having mini heart attacks inside from his voice.
"Your sorry won't bring back that exact lipstick shade you broke," I said sternly.
"It wasn't intentional," Zaid started explaining.
"You know what, Zaid? Just leave me alone," I said and started walking towards the door.
"Just tell me the number. I'll bring that many shades for you," he said from behind, making me stop in my tracks.
"What do you even think of yourself, Mr. Zaid? Just because you're filthy rich, it doesn't mean you can spend money like water."
"100!" I scolded him and then said the number.
"Okay," he said with a smile. He smiles? No, Ayesha, just don't-don't ever melt by his smile. I reminded myself again and again as I walked towards the door.
He opened it before I could.
"Take care, Ms. Hayat," he just took my Surname. But, why does it sound so good whenever he says it?
This man drives me crazy, I thought, and walked towards the elevator to prepare for another operation.
I was engrossed in watching her disappearing figure when my phone rang. I checked the ID to see Asad calling. I answered it while still watching her walk away.
"When are you coming?" came his stern voice from the other end.
"By morning," I said while walking towards the table where Ayesha had sat.
"But you said you'd be here by tonight," Asad said instantly.
"I changed my mind," I said with the same seriousness, remembering Ayesha's talk of going to India tomorrow.
"So, are you coming alone or is Rehan joining you?" Asad asked curiously.
"Rehan isn't coming with me, but I'm not coming alone either," I said with a smirk.
"Fine!" he said casually.
"Just fine! Asad, won't you ask me who I'm coming with?" I asked, frustrated.
"There is absolutely no need to ask, Zaid, because I know the only person you'll come with is Bhabhi. And I even know that she doesn't know she is coming with you." Asad amazed me again, and a small smile appeared on my lips when he called her Bhabhi.
"Okay, then see you tomorrow," I said and hung up the call.
I looked at my screen where her picture was set as my wallpaper. I took this picture when she was enjoying the cupcakes I bought for her. She scolded me, saying, "I'm not a kid to eat strawberry cupcakes," but ended up eating the whole box at once.
Ms. Ayesha Hayat, you have no idea how obsessed this Zaid Siddiqui is with you. You literally rule my entire heart, angry woman, and yet you refuse to accept that you love me too.
After taking one last look at her picture, I called my men.
"Rayn, I have some work for you," I said as soon as he picked up the call.
"I'm sending you the information. Make sure this woman's flight gets cancelled," I said sternly while still looking at the seat where she had been sitting.
"Yes, sir. The work will be done," came Rayn's voice.
"And arrange the jet by 11. I'll be there by 12. And get some cupcakes too," I finished, and his next question instantly brought a slight smile to my lips again.
"Which flavor, sir?" he asked hesitantly.
"Strawberry," I said and ended the call.
The only thing I know is that I am yours, Ayesha. From the day I laid eyes on you, I submitted my whole existence to you. I was unaware of the term called love before you, but after you entered my life, I realized the word I was unaware of has a meaning too. You have taken a mafia's heart, Ayesha.
And the only thing I can promise is that I can even destroy myself to protect you. No matter how much you hate me, this Zaid Siddiqui will always be yours. Yours to love and yours to destroy.
I thought this as I walked toward my cabin to prepare for one last operation and then go to the mall to buy her shades.
Exactly at 9, I found myself in the women's makeup center, and the most insane part is I remember each and every favorite shade of hers. They are etched in my mind as permanently as medicine formulas.
I bought every shade she is fond of but stopped in my tracks when the dark red lipstick shade came into my view.
"I am not buying this," I said to myself and moved to the other shades. No way am I letting her wear this dark red shade, so that I lose my mind seeing her in red.
No matter how strong and rude I act, the truth is my heart is weak when it comes to her beauty, especially with this dark red lipstick on her glowing skin, which will definitely make me go insane for her-which I already am.
But even after refusing so much to not buy it, I ended up buying it, not to give it to her but to keep it for myself.
