"Why aren't you picking up Ayesha's call, Jasmine?" Aleena's angry voice came from the other end, and I immediately moved the phone away from my ear.
Taking a deep breath, I put the phone on speaker and walked towards my room's window.
"I'm afraid of her, Aleena. I except that I didn't pick up, but now I'm even more scared to call her back," I admitted my fear as I opened the window.
"That's why I'm telling you, call her. She's worried about you, Jasmine. Why don't you understand? We care for you, you idiot woman. Listen to us," Aleena tried to explain patiently.
"But she's dangerous, Aleena," I replied.
"If you know how dangerous Ayesha is, then why didn't you answer her call?" Aleena asked in frustration.
"Well, I... I..." I tried to explain.
"Hurry up," Aleena urged.
"I was busy with some work," I said casually.
"Busy with work or busy with still hacking his account?" Aleena taunted.
"It's not like that," I defended myself.
"Jasmine, listen to me. Leave all this and call Ayesha. Have you booked the tickets? If not, do it now because tomorrow morning, you both are returning to India from the USA," Aleena said all this in one breath and hung up. I looked at my phone and then at the evening sky, where dark clouds were slowly moving. Maybe it will rain today.
"Life is beautiful, isn't it, Jasmine?" I asked with a smile.
"Absolutely not!" I shouted the next moment.
Why can't I just focus on my work? But no, this crazy heart doesn't listen to me. Just his eyes-I mean, how can someone's eyes distract me from doing anything? I abandoned all my work and started trying to hack his freaking account, which has an insanely strong password.
What a man he is! His black eyes won't let me live in peace. As I gazed at the clouds, I began to speak, then, without wasting any time, I went to my kitchen, made a hot cup of coffee, came back to my room, and opened my laptop.
"One last try, Jasmine. If you manage to hack it, fine. If not, then forget about him," I told myself as I searched for his account.
But this shameless heart was once again captivated by his eyes. I don't even do drugs, but his eyes are literally like a drug. My day doesn't start until I see them.
Who are you? What's in you, Mr.? Why are you making me fall for you? The woman who never looked at anyone is now in love with your eyes.
"Control yourself, Jasmine!" I shouted.
I took a sip of coffee and started coding again-30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, and finally, exactly 3 hours later, I hacked it.
"What! I hacked it?" I literally shouted out of excitement.
I had been trying for three days, and finally, I managed to hack my Mr.'s account. In just two seconds, all his information appeared before me-his name, address, number, everything except his face. Maybe he doesn't have any pictures on social media.
Taking a deep breath, I read his name out loud.
"Rehan Qureshi. He has a good name," I smiled at my own thought.
"Criminal lawyer! So my Mr. is a lawyer. Even more impressive," I blushed at the thought.
Lastly, his number. I traced his location only to receive another shock.
"He's in the USA? Seriously? What on earth is this? The man I'm looking for lives in the same country as I do? You are incredibly lucky, Jasmine," I praised myself, even though it felt pointless.
Finishing the last sip of coffee, I put on my bike suit, gloves, helmet, grabbed my keys, and stepped out of my house. I looked up at the sky; the clouds were growing darker, as if warning me to stop whatever I was doing. But here I was, about to take the biggest risk of my life just to see my lawyer's eyes.
It took me exactly one hour to reach his location, even after riding at full speed.
I got off my bike and looked at the building in front of me.
"Luxurious," was the only word that came out of my mouth.
It was a law firm building, but it looked more like a luxurious hotel than an office. The time was around 9 PM, and lucky me, at this hour, no employees would be working-just security guards and CCTV cameras would be active.
But no problem, I am the solution to this problem. My skills will help me see his eyes.
I sat on my bike in front of his office building and hacked into the CCTV footage. What kind of lawyer is he? He has a strong password for his account, but a very weak one for his office. I think he needs more intelligent people on his team.
"And I'm always free to accept his offer, if he makes one," I said, giving myself a tap on the shoulder.
Good job, Jasmine, I praised myself once I hacked the footage, but the worst thing is, I don't even know why I'm doing this or what am I even doing here. The only thing I know is that I'm obsessed with his black eyes and just want to see who's behind those eyes so I can assure myself that I'm only obsessed with the eyes, not with the owner of those drug-like eyes.
"Okay, Jasmine, CCTV is done, and now it's time to dodge the security guards."
Why did I sound like a thief right now? Ahhh, it's okay, I screamed internally, then assured myself again.
"It's just a game of two minutes, Jasmine-see him and get out of this place."
But before I could do anything about the security guards, another idea popped into my mind.
I can even hack his office system and find out where the back door is, right? Oh, Jasmine, how? Just how can you be such a genius? I blushed again, then hacked into his system. As expected, there was a back door.
I rode my bike towards the back door and stood near it.
But again, here comes another issue-the door was locked.
"Think, Jasmine, think!" I murmured, massaging my messy bun when suddenly my hand touched a hair clip.
"A clip? Oh yes, I can open it with this."
In seconds, I took my clip and started trying to open the door. Well, the door didn't open, but my clip surely broke. I took another clip but failed again. I tried with all the clips from my hair until I was left with only one-my hope was broken, and so were all the clips on the floor, but this freaking door was still locked.
"This is your last chance, Jasmine. Do it, do it for yourself-do it to see his eyes, Jasmine!" I encouraged myself.
This time, I tried calmly, and yes, I succeeded. I opened the door slowly and stepped in, taking slow and careful steps.
I was wearing heels, so I had to walk very slowly. I tracked his location, and my Mr. lawyer was still in the office. I followed his location, took a right turn, and entered a luxurious open glass door. It looked like a suite rather than a cabin. The door was open, and I stepped in. I checked his location-it was showing as here, but where is he? I wondered, looking around.
I walked slowly towards the light switch and turned it off. I am not going to take any risks from here.
I admired the luxurious cabin with its dim lights, until I felt someone's presence coming towards me. Before I could sense them getting closer, a fragrance hit my nose, making me lose control. And just in seconds, someone grabbed my hand, pulling me closer to them, causing my head to hit their chest. It was a man's chest, broad and firm.
"Stop it, Jasmine," I cursed myself.
"Who are you?" he asked, and my breath stopped.
His voice? It's like heaven-I could die right now. My gaze was still down when he brought his hand to my chin and lifted it up, only for me to meet those eyes for whom I had come here.
It's him, yes, it's him. No, no, no, this can't be true! He can't be this handsome and hot at the same time. I don't want to fall in love with him. No, Jasmine, absolutely not! I screamed internally.
"Who. Are. You. Miss?" he asked with his deep, husky voice, sending a 400-volt shock through my body.
Suddenly, panic set in as he was so close to me. I don't know what came over me at that moment, but I punched him on his jaw.
"Ahhh!" he shouted in pain and let go of my hand.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Lawyer," I said hurriedly, seizing the opportunity to escape from this place.
"You dangerous woman, stop!" he shouted from behind and started following me.
I ran for my life in these freaking heels, heading towards my bike. After settling down, I looked back to take one last look at him. Oh my God, he's in pain, and I'm the reason. I saw him holding his jaw tightly, who is unable to even shout at me.
"You're crazy, Jasmine," I cursed myself and started driving at full speed. Once I felt like I was safe, I stopped the bike and got off.
Leaning against the bike, I looked up at the sky and took a deep breath to calm my wild heartbeat, which had gone crazy just a minute ago seeing him.
I opened my eyes only to see a few drops of water falling on my face, and in just a few seconds, it started pouring heavily. I stood in the rain, replaying our encounter in my mind.
Mr. Rehan! I finally saw him, saw those eyes.
Were they just eyes or some kind of drugs?
When I looked into them, I forgot everything. There was no light in the room, yet his eyes sparkled like stars, and his face was like the moon. And those eyes-they were empty, as if there were no questions or words behind them. His complexion was clear, and when he held my hand, something happened in my heart. Whether it was fear or something else, I don't know what it was, but the only thing I know is I felt a strange kind of peace near him?
I don't know what he's like, but I do know that my eyes won't want to see anyone else beside him now.
As his face appeared before me, a slight smile crossed my lips, and with that smile, I stood there in the rain.
I regret punching him, but what else could I have done? It all happened so suddenly, and if in case I meet him again, I'll definitely apologize to my Mr. Lawyer. While being a blushing mess, I started enjoyed the rain.
Unbelievable, did I just get punched by a thief for no reason!
I groaned in pain, clutching my jaw-the pain was so intense that I was finding it difficult even to call someone.
I took my phone out of my pocket and messaged my assistant.
Within five minutes, Max started heading toward me.
I wanted to shout and ask why the back door was open and how our security could be so weak that anyone could just walk in, but at this moment, I was in so much pain that I couldn't say a word.
"Take me to the dentist, Max," I messaged him.
Max looked at me with a confused expression, so to clear up his confusion, I removed my hand from my jaw, giving him a clear view of my bruised jaw and nearly broken teeth. He understood the situation immediately and went to bring my car.
I stood there, waiting for him to come and processing everything that had happened within a matter of seconds.
A few minutes later, Max returned and opened the door for me.
We reached the clinic. I went in and sat impatiently, waiting for the doctor to arrive. I'm already running late for the airport, and now, on top of that, I have to deal with this unbearable pain.
After a few minutes, the doctor came in, took his seat, and began asking me questions, but I just sat there silently, unable to speak.
"Sir's, jaw is broken Doctor! Ah-I mean, the teeth is broken," Max blurted out nervously, and I shot him a sharp look.
The doctor examined my tooth and then calmly asked, "Your name, sir?"
"Rehan Qureshi," Max responded to the doctor.
"Mr. Qureshi, your tooth is completely broken; we'll have to remove it," the doctor concluded, and here I was, the most feared lawyer, aka the mafia lawyer, suddenly afraid to remove my precious teeth.
As if things weren't bad enough, now I had to go through this as well.
"Sir? Should I remove it?" the doctor asked patiently.
I nodded in agreement, bracing myself for the pain.
"I'll make sure you pay for the pain I'm going through right now, you dangerous woman," I thought to myself.
An hour later, Max and I walked out, with me holding my jaw and Max carrying a bag of medicine.
"Just drop me home," I texted him. But the man didn't even bother to look at his phone.
I tapped his shoulder, trying not to lose my temper, but since I couldn't talk, I knew my eyes would be enough to scare him.
I pointed at his phone, and when he finally looked at it, he texted back, "Okay, sir."
At that moment, I seriously began to reconsider my decision for hiring him as my assistant. I'm the one who can't talk right now, not him. He could have just said "okay" out loud.
Calming my nerves and racing heartbeat, I settled into the back seat and closed my eyes.
But it seemed like the worst day of my life wasn't over yet, my phone starting ringing.
When I saw the caller ID, I could only curse my luck-it was Zaid calling.
I ignored his call and messaged him instead.
"What?" I texted.
"What? What do you mean by 'what,' Rehan? Pick up the call!" His reply felt more like a warning. But even if I answered, he would be the only one talking-I couldn't speak right now.
"I can't talk right now, Zaid. Tell me what happened," I messaged calmly.
"Why did you miss your flight?" came his text a few seconds later. Just seeing his message made me think of that woman because of whom I missed my flight.
"Got stuck with a case. I'll go in the morning," I texted back after a few minutes.
He didn't respond; that's typical of Zaid-he's not much of a texter, and neither am I. But here I am, doing it anyway.
After putting my phone away, I closed my eyes, only to see her beautiful face appear in my mind.
When I came into the cabin from the balcony, the lights were off, and the entire room was bathed in dim lighting. In that darkness, there was only one light I could see-the light coming from her face, illuminating the entire room. The room was dark, but not so dark that I couldn't see her face. She was standing to my left, her open hair, slightly disturbing me to see her eyes.
As I silently approached her and took her hand, something stirred in my heart. Her hands were cold, where as mine were warm.
When I pulled her close and saw her face so near, I forgot everything. It was as if my mind had gone completely blank. Her face shone so brightly that it could light up the entire world. Her eyes held such peace that the world itself would bow before them. Her eyes were fearless, as if the world should fear them, not those lips, which drove me even crazier. And on top of that, her chubby cheeks.
"Ahhh, Rehan!" I instantly opened my eyes when we hit a bump. What was I even thinking? She's a thief-a freaking thief who broke into my office without breaking anything.
And now another question crossed my mind: How did she know about the back door? The door wasn't broken; it was simply open. Only I have the keys, so how? My curious mind couldn't stop thinking about her.
I quickly grabbed my phone and messaged Max, "Take a U-turn to the office, right now!" After sending the message, I tapped his shoulder because I knew he doesn't usually check his phone. I thought he'd just take a quick glance, but no, our great Max pulled the car over to the side of the road, read my message, and then, after typing that infuriating "Okay, sir," he started the car again.
Calm down, Rehan, I told myself, trying to keep my composure.
We reached the office and walked toward the back door, where I began searching for any evidence to find her. As I examined the door, I noticed it was perfectly intact. While looking around, my gaze fell on some broken hair clips scattered on the ground. I carefully picked them up, counting almost ten broken pieces.
"So, she's not an expert thief," I muttered to myself.
I walked in from where she had entered, searching for more clues. As I continued, my eyes landed on the CCTV cameras.
Oh yes, the CCTV footage can help me find her. Without wasting a moment, I headed to the security room. Both of my men were diligently working.
I messaged Max to ask the security team for the footage from 9 to 10. But when I checked it, I didn't find her-just my security guards, seriously focused on their work.
Where did she go?
"Show me the inside footage!" I messaged Max.
They showed me the footage of my cabin door. No sign of her there either. But what shocked me more was that there was no footage of me too. I was literally holding my broken jaw and running after her, yet that footage was completely missing-not just missing, but erased as if nothing had ever happened.
Is she a hacker? This was the only question which came to my mind at this moment.
