I went to my room, trying my best to not cry. Mustang was going to his, he saw Maverick. Mav came over to him, "Where's my girlfriend?" He asked quietly. "Her room. I'm sorry, man." Mustang told him. Mav nodded and came to my room. He knocked, I answered. He looked up at me with tears in his eyes. I grabbed him and pulled him in. I shut the door. I wrapped my arms around his neck tightly. "I'm so sorry, baby." I whispered. He wrapped his arms around my waist and squeezed me tightly. "I don't know how I'm supposed to face Carole after this. I can't do this alone. Please come with me, baby." He said quietly and pulled back slightly. "I'll be right there with you, baby. I promise you." I held his face in my hands. "You're never alone, Mav, you hear me?" I said quietly, not trusting my voice above a whisper, I was trying to be strong for him. He nodded. "Come on." I held his hand. We headed to gather Goose's things and to see Carole and Bradley. I stopped in front of the building. "I think maybe it was my fault." He said. I touched his arm and squeezed it. "Nah. I don't know what went wrong." He continued. "Mav, you know I'll help in any way that I can. I can only imagine what you're going through, but like I said, I'm right here for you. I promise." I told him. "I want him back." He said, his voice on the verge of breaking. "I know you do." I whispered. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it, "Let's go." He nodded towards the building. We were walking towards it, he stopped. "I need your help." "I'm right here." I kissed his cheek. We went into Goose's room.

Mav started gathering stuff up and putting it into a box. He then reached for a picture of him and Goose that was on the mirror. "Aw, I remember that picture." I said. "You took it." He said. "I know." I said quietly. He then reached for his dog tags and squeezed his fingers around them. We went to the door to walk out, he opened it, but then shut it back and leaned his back against it. I laid my forehead on his and wrapped my hand around his cheek. "It's gonna be okay, baby. I promise. We'll get through this together." I leaned up and kissed his head. He exhaled deeply and nodded. He opened the door back up and we went to see Carole to give her, her husband's belongings. Carole looked at us. "He loved flying with you, Maverick. He would have flown anyway, without you. He'd hated it, but he would've done it." Her voice broke, she got up and hugged him, I could see the tears in his eyes. "He was so happy he had you both." She hugged me. I hugged her back, I had tears in my eyes as I pulled back. "I love you both." She told us. "We love you, too. Both of you." I told her, she gave us a small smile and walked out of the room. I looked at Mav. I cupped his face and rubbed my thumbs underneath his eyes. "It's okay to cry, Mav. You don't have to be strong for me." I whispered to him. He closed his eyes for a moment before opening them back up and wrapping his arms around my waist. I wrapped my hand around the back of his head. I heard him cry. I was the one trying to be strong for him, but I couldn't hold back anymore. "I can't do this without him." He said. I held him tighter. "Yes, you can. I believe in you. Like Carole said, he would've done it. But I can also understand where you're coming from, Mav. I know it's not easy." I said as I left a soft kiss on his neck.

He pulled away slightly and looked at me. I wiped his tears. "I don't know what I'd do without you. I love you." He whispered to me. Tears fell down my face, he was quick to wipe them. "I don't know what I'd do without you, either. I love you, too." I said. He leaned in and kissed me softly. I kissed him back. He rested his forehead against mine. "Thank you for coming with me, baby." He said. "Anything for you, baby." I hugged him, he hugged me back. "Come on, let's get out of here." He said, grabbing my hand. I nodded. We went to his room. We laid down. "I'm not ready for tomorrow. I know everyone's telling me it wasn't my fault, but I can't help at times feel like it was. So, I'm not looking forward to what they have to say tomorrow." He told me. I turned to him, "It's not, Mav. But I think anyone in your position would feel the same way you do. I know I would." I laid my head on his chest, he ran his fingers through my hair and massaged my scalp. "You know when you do that, you make me fall asleep." I giggled. "Maybe that's what I'm trying to do. We both need sleep." He chuckled softly. I leaned up and kissed his lips softly, he kissed back. I hid my face in the crook of his neck and cuddled closer to him. He smiled slightly and wrapped his arm around me.

It was the next morning, Mav would find out if it was his fault or not. He was about to walk in, I grabbed his arm. He turned. "I'm here, okay? I'll be waiting right outside." I said. He kissed my cheek and nodded. I waited outside for him. "The spin was induced by the disruption of airflow into the starboard engine. This disruption stalled the engine, which produced enough yaw rate to induce a spin, which was unrecoverable. There was no way Lieutenant Mitchell could see or avoid the jet wash. The Board of Inquiry finds that he was not at fault in the accident of 29th July. His record will be cleared. He's restored to flight status without further delay. These proceedings are closed." They told him. "Get him up flying, soon." Viper told Jester. Mav came back out. "Well, they found it in my favor and I'm restored to flight status." He told me. I held his hand. "I had a feeling you would be." I said. He intertwined his fingers through mine. He then grabbed my face and kissed me. He looked at me. "Not that I don't love that, but what was that for?" I asked him, smiling. "For never doubting me, baby, even when I doubt myself." He gave me a small smile and reached up to tuck a piece of my hair behind my ear, he kept his hand there. "There's no reason I have to ever doubt you, baby." I wrapped my hand around the back of his neck and kissed him. He put his hands on my hips and pulled me closer to him. "I love you, sweetheart." He held me tighter. "I love you, too, baby." I slid my fingers through his hair and played with it.
