Ananya

I was inside our room nervously waiting for my husband. I clearly remembered what the doctor had informed me about my sudden illness.

The sound of the door being locked brought me to reality. I looked towards the door and saw him coming towards me with a worried face.

Ram : Anu, tum theek tho ho na? ( he asked making me smile.) ( Anu you are alright na?)

Anu : hum bilkul theek hain Aarya. ( I replied still nervous about how would he react.) ( I am perfectly fine Aarya.)

Ram: so, what did the doctor say? (His question just made my nervousness worse.)

Anu : Vo, aapko bacche acha lagthe haina Aarya! (I asked cautiously while biting my lips.) ( That, you like kids, right Aarya?)

Ram: haa, kinthu tum ye prashan ab kyun puch rahe ho? Pehle batao tho vaidhya ne kya kaha tha tumhari tabiyat ke baare main. ( I smiled at his question and decided to say it without worrying much.) ( yes, but why are you asking this question now? First tell me, what the doctor had said about your health.)

Anu : Vo, unhone kaha hain ki aap pitha banne wale hain. ( I closed my eyes expecting the worst.) ( That, He informed me that, you are going to be a father.)

After what felt like a minute I opened my eyes only to see him shocked.

Anu: Aarya! (I wiggled his shoulder wanting to know if he was happy or not.)

Ram : kya kaha tha tumne? (He asked with a huge smile plastered on his face.) ( what did you just say?)

Anu: Aap pitha banne wale hain Aarya. (I said smiling as well looking at his excited self.) ( you are going to be a father, Aarya!)

He stood up and shouted a hurray making me giggle loudly. He came towards me again and said while keeping his hand on my stomach.

Ram: That means a small life is growing inside you who will call me dad, right? (He said again while slightly jumping.)

Anu: yes! (I said utterly overwhelmed with happiness.)

He suddenly kissed my forehead and then my whole face making me giggle loudly.

Ram: Then she will only play with me, right? She will say she loves me the most in the world. I will not let her play with anyone except me. (He said already deciding as if it's going to be a girl.)

Before I could tell him there was a possibility of it being a boy, he ran outside the room squealing.

I heard him shouting Pithashree Karn's name. He probably would have crushed him in a hug. I giggled.

I thought meeting the others as well. When I came outside all were looking happy and probably due to my squealing husband.

Anu : Matha draupadi, where is shashi? (I asked her worried.)

Draupadi: she went to her room to write a letter and send it to Dwarka about the good news. (She said smiling happily.)

All I have ever wanted was this. My family and him to be happy.

After a week -

Ram

A week passed and I didn't even know. I was busy taking care of her and my baby. I can't express how happy I am right now. I have always dreamt of a family with Aru but God had other plans for me.

But still, he gave me my happiness back, so I don't hate him now.

We were here in a temple near Dwarka as she so much wanted to visit this temple.

I denied it many times as we had to travel for two days straight and it could be quite uncomfortable for her. But she was so adamant that I had to agree at last.

The kids Were busy with work in the palace, so didn't come. We thought of visiting Anu's parents on the way back.

So here we are.

We went inside the temple to take blessings of the god.

Priest : pranipath Rajkumaari! (Greeted the temple priest.)

He slowly greeted me too but with a hint of fear in it. I shrugged as I thought it was due to me being a prince of a powerful kingdom.

Priest : Rajkumar aaj aapko aarthi karna hogi. Aur hamari rajkumari jaake paani leke aayegi shivji ki abhishek keliye. (He said looking at me shifting uncomfortably on his feet.) ( Prince, today you must do the Aarthi to the idol. And our princess will bring water for the Abhishek of Shiva.)

Ram: No, she will not. Sainik can bring the water. (I said irritated at his frightened self.)

Anu : Aarya, aap rukiye. Ham hi laathe hain. Sainik aayenge hamari suraksha keliye. (She said and before I could hold her went away followed by 20 soldiers.) ( Aarya, please stop. I will bring myself. The soldiers will be there for my safety.)

I sighed at her stubbornness and started doing the Aarthi.

I smiled as my heart felt at peace being so close to bhagwaan.

My peace was disturbed by a female scream.

Anu: AARYA! (I opened my eyes sensing it was of Anu.)

I quickly put the thaali down and ran towards the river direction, only to see the bank of it was filled with the dead bodies of the soldiers.

I screamed in anger. I can feel the storm of emotions that hit me making me want to shatter someone to dust.

She is kidnapped. My wife is kidnapped.

A huge chunk of soldiers came towards me probably after hearing my shout.

Ram: What were you all doing when you heard Rajkumari's scream? (I shouted on their faces to which they lowered their heads not replying anything.)

I fell on my knees not knowing what to do. My eyes started tearing up and my mind was calculating the possible situations she was going to be in. Just when I was about to lose hope, I saw an anklet lying in between the bodies.

Ram: Do the possible last rites for these soldiers. (I said and started searching for a possible trace with some soldiers.)

After observing keenly, I observed her ornaments lying in the forest at some distance sequentially.

I smiled with tears as she didn't forget to leave her traces so that I could find her quickly.

. . . . . . Where do you think Anu is?
