Alexia POV
It had been a long day of just sitting in the station, waiting for a man that is supposed to be her father. A man that according to her mother had wanted nothing to do with her or Leo. And now they were just suppose to uproot their whole life and move to who knew where with a bunch of unknown guys. That thought sent a shiver of fear through her body. What if they were like Thomas and his friends? What if they... No.. She shook that thought away. She was tired and the pain killers she took this morning had worn off so her ribs, back and shoulder were killing her. "Lexi, Jeg... Jeg er sulten igen.." Leo whispered to her. (Translation from Danish - "Lexi, I... I am hungry again.") Alexia sighed, she knew the social worker heard him again but still ignored what he said. She had eaten the other granola bar she had in her hoodie. "Okay, lad us finde noget du kan spise." She told him and stood up and swung her backpack over her shoulder. (Translation from Danish - "Okay, lets go find something you can eat.") Leo quickly caught up to her and slid his hand into hers. Something he always did. Alexia opened the door and walked out of the room only to stop mid step as she came face to face with the detective and two intimidating men. One looked older than the other but you could clearly see they were related. She felt Leo cower behind her. The aura surrounding the two men screamed danger. Their eyes, similar to Leo's - to her own, looked cold and emotionless. Alexia's instincts were screaming at her to run away from these two men. They were dark and dangerous and there were no doubt in her mind of that. It was a given fact to her. Question was... were they dark and dangerous like Thomas, or something else? Worse? Better? She didn't know but she knew she would find out because even without the introductions she knew this was her supposed father and one of her older brothers. "Ah. Alexia. Lige den pige jeg ledte efter." The detective said. (Translation from Danish - "Ah, Alexia, just the girl I was looking for.") Alexia ignore his words and continued to study the two men in front of her. "Det her er din far." He said pointing at the older man. "Og det er din bror." He pointed to the younger man. (Translation from Danish - "This right here is your father. And that is your brother.") Alexia almost rolled her eyes at the man. "Mister Romano. This is Alexia. Your girl." The detective said now looking at the two men. Alexia frowned at hearing his words. She had been wondering before how this man had managed to rise in the ranks of a police department but now she questioned it even more. Even the bullies at her school spoke better english than this man did. "Your boy is..." He trailed off as he looked around Alexia and into the room she'd just left before frowning not being able to see the boy anywhere. "Brittaney. Hvor er drengen?" "(Brittaney. Where is the boy?") The detective asked the social worker that had only now registered that he was there and suddenly jumped out of her chair and looked attentively around the room as if the boy would magically appear in front of her. "Øh.. Jeg..." She stammered. ("Uhm... I...") This time Alexia couldn't stop her eye roll. This woman was all kinds of stupid. Then suddenly Alexia heard her suck in a harsh breath of air and seconds later Alexia was roughly pushed to the side resulting in her slamming her shoulder into a door frame. Pain radiated throughout Alexia's body but she kept her wince in. "Hey. I my name is Brittaney." They woman said batting her eyelashes at the younger of the males who was currently looking at Alexia with fire blazing in his eyes. "I've took care of the kids while we wait for you." She continued, her english were as awful as her voice. Alexia looked at the woman and saw she was unbuttoning her too tight shirt so half her boobs were now showing. However Alexia also noticed that everyones attention was on her and not the social clown. "Lexi." Leo's worried whisper made her look at him and a soft smile spread over her lips. "Jeg er okay." She said softly. ("I am okay.") Leo studied her for a second before nodding. He knew not to mention the abuse to anyone. "Ah. That is little Leo." The detective said breaking the tense silence. "Oh yes." The social worker cut in, still batting her fake eye lids. "I has papers for you to sign. Um. And I give my telefone number so you call whenever you need me." She purred as she pretended to straighten out the tie on the younger man. "Is this how you do your job miss?" The older man asked in a deadly tone. "You push kids around to try and get ahead thinking you're some priced possession?" The social worker practically cowered away from him. "Chi crede di essere questa stupida donna?" He cursed in Italian. ("Who does this stupid woman think she is?") "Calmati. Non siamo a casa quindi non puoi fare nulla." The younger man replied calmly but Alexia could hear his aggravation in his voice. ("Calm down. We are not at home so you can't do anything.") "Fanculo!!" Cursed the older man before they both fell silent. ("Fuck!!") Alexia looked at the two in front of them. "Can we just get the paperwork so I can take the kids home?" He said after a beat of silence. The kids... Not his kids, Alexia thought to herself. Maybe what her mother had told her was accurate in regards to her father with the obvious exception that he isn't dead. "Yes. Yes. I go get them." The detective stammered shooting the social worker a glare.
Five minutes later everything was signed and custody had now been given to this cold man in front of them. "Um.." The older man said and for the first time he seemed unsure. "Can you tell the kids to go get their things?" He asked looking at the detective. However before the detective could react Alexia grabbed the duffel bag before looking at the two men. "We're ready." She told him. The two men looked surprised she spoke english before the younger one looked at the bags. "Is that all you're bringing?" He asked. Alexia just nodded. "What about him?" He asked now looking at Leo. Alexia lifted the duffle bag. "This is his." "Where is yours then? The older one - her father she supposed - asked. "I got mine too." She replied. "We're ready to leave." A small tug in her sleeve pulled Alexia's attention from the two men to Leo - she supposed she should start referring to them as father and brother instead of just men. "Sulten." He whispered. ("Hungry.") Alexia frowned. She'd forgotten that was why they left that office to begin with. She looked around and found a vending machine. She walked over to it with Leo following right behind her. She could feel everyones eyes on them. She looked in. It was slim pickings but there were stuff Leo would like so she pulled some money from her pocket, she'd hidden some there while in the bathroom in case they needed it. She ended up getting a few packs of crackers, some chips and took a chance on an egg sandwich and a chicken sandwich as well as two fresh fruit cups. They looked okay but she would double check before giving them to him to eat. She also got him a bottle of tea as well as two bottles of apple juice. Quickly putting all but one of the fruit cups into the backpack she turned around. "Sorry. Now we're ready." She said as she walked toward the waiting men while opening the cup. She smelled it before giving it to Leo who was glued to her. The old... Her father... God that was going to be so weird. Tried to take the duffle bag from her. "Let me carry that." He said trying to sound friendly. Alexia didn't let him take it. "It's okay. I got it." She sent him a small smile not to be impolite. The men lead them out to the waiting SUV and Alexia noticed two more of the same SUV parked close by. The drive to the airport was silent. Only disturbed by the noises Leo made while eating. Alexia was wondering how she'd get the money through security when she realized they were going to what seemed to be a private landing field where a very luxurious jet was waiting with several people standing at attention outside. Alexia knew from their suits they were wearing that they had money but having a big private jet like this at their disposal? Wow was all she could think. For some reason, knowing they have this amount of money makes her more uneasy.
