It has now been six years since YN was found by Chilli and became her only son and child, and ever since then, YN continued to live a happy life with his family, which were, of course, his auntie Calypso, his favorite person in the world, his grandmother Rosie, and, surprisingly, Trixie. Over the years, Trixie became close to the human child. After Trixie went back home, she didn't stay there long since she actually decided to divorce her husband because they couldn't work it out. Being free now, she decided to stay close to her best friend, and knowing that Chilli and Calypso didn't mind her staying near Rosie, she bought a house just a five-minute walk from Rosie's home.

Over the last few years, YN has been homeschooled since Chilli has been overprotective of her son and didn't allow him to go to public school for fear that her son wouldn't be treated right. So she and the rest of her family took it upon themselves to teach and homeschool him, but to their surprise, YN was really smart and had little to no trouble learning and doing things. Sadly, Brandy was still in the military and would be for another few years since she wanted to make sure that her family would be taken care of when she left the military. As much as it broke Rosie and Chilli's hearts, they both understood that Brandy would be home sooner or later. But frankly, the Cattle family had been doing great over the years.

As a new day dawned over the Cattle home, a young child in his room started to wake up, opened his eyes, and slowly got up from his comfortable bed. He looked at his clock to see it was six-thirty in the morning. The young child walked out of his room into the empty hallway, which was filled with a warm orange color as the sunrise shined into the Cattle home. As YN walked down the hallway, he passed by a few pictures on the wall taken over the last six years, some being photos of YN and his family, some being the women by themselves. In every photo, the Cattle family were smiling and looked very happy.

As YN passed the photos, he looked at one of them and smiled because he loved his family despite knowing he wasn't blood-related to them. He loved them no matter what, and he knew they loved him the same as if he was blood-related. Letting out a sigh, YN walked past the photo, went downstairs, and walked into the kitchen. He started making coffee for his family, and as the coffee got hot, YN started making breakfast for them too. Now, you might be thinking, How the hell is an eight-year-old cooking and making coffee? Well, to put it simply, YN is mature even at his age. Even though he still acts like a child should, he's mature enough to act like an adult. But that's just one reason; the other is that he likes to cook after Rosie taught him how. It quickly became one of his favorite things to do. The first time they caught him trying to cook, they were surprised, but after seeing that he was careful and actually trying, they let him cook whenever he wanted. But only after they made sure he knew how to put out a fire and not hurt himself.

This morning, he decided to make a simple and yet classic breakfast: eggs and sausages with a side of grits. It was simple enough to not take too long to cook, which would only take around twenty minutes or so. After twenty minutes passed and he was setting the kitchen table, YN heard someone come downstairs and walk into the kitchen. He looked up to see his grandmother Rosie walking to the coffee pot and pouring herself some coffee into her personal mug.

YN: Mornin', Grandma.

YN said with a smile as he walked over to her and gave her a hug. She returned the hug and gave him a kiss on his head.

Rosie: Morning, sweetpea. How you feeling this morning?

Rosie said as she walked to the kitchen table, sat down in her robe, and began to eat her breakfast that her grandson made for her. Despite her age, she still looked young even with her fur getting darker. Since anthro bodies age slower, she still looked to be in her mid-thirties while now in her fifties.

YN: I'm feeling good. How about you?

YN said as he took a seat next to her and drank some coffee that he made earlier for himself while cooking breakfast.

Rosie: I'm doing alright, sweetie. I'm just happy that my grandson makes us breakfast early in the morning.

Rosie said as she ruffled his hair a bit, which made YN chuckle.

YN: It's no problem, Grandma. You know I like to cook for y'all.

Rosie chuckled a bit.

Rosie: Yeah, I know. I'm glad to know my grandson knows how to take care of the women in his life. Makes me jealous of your future wife-to have such an amazing man.

Rosie said, making YN blush.

Chilli: Ma, stop teasing the boy.

Chilli said, causing both of them to look up to see Chilli walking into the kitchen with Calypso following behind her, both of them only wearing their robes.

YN: Oh, morning, Ma.

YN said as he got up from the table and went to give her a hug. She returned the hug to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Chilli: Morning, baby. Thanks for making coffee in the morning for us.

YN: You know I wake up early anyways, so I don't mind making y'all some coffee.

Calypso: And thank God for that. I would hate waking up early in the morning without any coffee.

YN: Oh, morning, Auntie.

YN said as he left his mother's side and went to give her a hug too, which she returned, but not before ruffling up his hair, which made him chuckle.

YN: Auntie, you're going to mess up my hair.

Calypso: Oh, I just can't help it. You look so cute.

She said as she finally stopped, and the Australian shepherd anthro walked over to the coffee pot and made herself a cup while YN went back to the kitchen table with the rest of his family.

YN: Oh, and Mom, I forgot to mention-we have to go to the grocery store soon. The fridge is low on food.

Chilli nodded and gave a sigh.

Chilli: Alright, I'll go after I get off work.

Rosie: Damn, we're already that low on food? I thought we just went shopping last week.

After she said that, YN smiled and brought a jar full of money from under the kitchen table.

YN: Swear jar!

Rosie: Dang it!

She said, forgetting that they started using a swear jar for YN a year ago to keep him from hearing such things. Over the last year, the jar was almost filled to the brim with money from the women in the house forgetting not to swear, which caused the jar to fill up quickly. However, all the women thought it would be a good idea to make the swear jar YN's monthly allowance for helping out around the house. Rosie took five bucks out of her wallet and put it in the jar, and YN put it back under the table.

Chilli: We really gotta stop doing that.

This caused Calypso and Rosie to laugh.

Rosie: Don't you mean just you and me? Because Calypso doesn't cuss at all-except that one time she couldn't button up one of YN's shirts that he grew out of too fast.

Calypso, mid-sip of her coffee, nearly choked and shot a playful glare across the table.

Calypso: Oh, come on! That shirt was ridiculous! The buttons were fighting for their lives, and don't get me started on how tight it was across the shoulders.

The table erupted in laughter, even YN chuckling at the thought of his aunt struggling with his shirt.

YN: You should've just asked Grandma for help.

Calypso: Oh, hush, you little rascal. You're the one outgrowing your clothes faster than we can buy them.

Still laughing, Rosie patted Calypso's hand.

Rosie: It's alright, sweetheart. That shirt had its day-just like YN's little baby overalls. Remember those?

Calypso groaned dramatically.

Calypso: Oh, please, not the overalls! You've got pictures of him in those, don't you?

Rosie: Of course I do. Want me to grab the photo album?

YN: No! Grandma, don't!

The laughter rolled on, light and easy, as they finished their breakfast.

After a glance at the clock, Chilli sighed and stood from the table.

Chilli: Alright, I'd better get ready. Long shift at the airport today.

She leaned down to kiss YN's head, gave Rosie a quick hug, and grabbed her coffee.

Rosie: Don't work too hard, sweetheart.

Chilli: No promises.

With a chuckle, Chilli disappeared upstairs, leaving Calypso to polish off the last of her coffee.

Calypso: And I've got to head out too. Those kids at the pre-k are going to turn the place into a zoo if I'm not there.

She ruffled YN's hair as she passed him, grinning as he tried to smooth it back.

YN: Auntie, my hair!

Calypso: Oh, you'll survive, kiddo.

She winked and followed Chilli upstairs to get ready. Not long after, the two women were heading out the door.

Chilli: You two behave while we're gone.

Rosie: Always.

Rosie: Well, sweetpea, it's just you and me for the day. Got anything you want to do?

YN shrugged as he cleared the table.

YN: Not really, Grandma. I'll probably read for a bit or play in the backyard.

Rosie watched him thoughtfully as he cleaned up. By noon, they had both settled into their routines, Rosie knitting on the couch and YN quietly flipping through a book. But by early afternoon, the stillness of the house started to feel too quiet.

Rosie: You know what, sweetpea? Let's get out of here for a bit. I'm tired of being cooped up inside.

YN perked up at the suggestion, nodding eagerly.

YN: Sure, Grandma! Where are we going?

Rosie: Nowhere special, just a nice walk. It's a pretty day outside, and we shouldn't waste it.

The two of them got ready and headed out, walking down the quiet streets of their neighborhood. The sun was warm, the breeze gentle, and YN held Rosie's hand as they strolled along. They talked about little things-YN's latest book, Rosie's memories from her younger days-and enjoyed the peaceful afternoon.

Eventually, their walk took them past a school. The sound of children laughing and shouting carried over the fence, drawing YN's attention. He stopped for a moment, watching as anthro kids ran around the playground, kicking balls, climbing on jungle gyms, and playing tag.

Rosie noticed his gaze and squeezed his hand gently.

Rosie: What's on your mind, sweetpea?

YN: Nothing... I was just watching them.

His voice was quiet, but Rosie could tell there was more to it. She didn't push, though, knowing YN would talk when he was ready.

Rosie: They sure look like they're having fun, don't they?

YN nodded, his blue eyes thoughtful as he continued to watch the kids. Some were sitting on a nearby bench with books or notebooks, while others played in groups. It was a mix of activity, learning, and laughter that seemed to hold YN's attention.

YN: Grandma, do you think... do you think I'd be good at school?

Rosie blinked, surprised by the question. She knelt down to his level, brushing a stray hair from his face.

Rosie: Sweetpea, I think you'd be amazing at school. You're smart, kind, and curious. But why do you ask?

YN hesitated, then shook his head.

YN: I don't know. I'm just thinking, I guess.

Rosie gave him a warm smile, sensing this was a thought that needed time to grow.

Rosie: Well, whatever you decide to do, we'll always support you.

YN smiled back, feeling comforted by her words. They continued their walk, but YN couldn't help glancing back at the schoolyard one last time before they turned the corner.

The rest of the walk passed uneventfully, but YN's mind kept circling back to the scene at the school. Later, he'd bring it up again, but for now, he let the thought settle quietly, tucked away for another time.

Rosie and YN continued their walk, leaving the school behind as they strolled through the neighborhood. The sun was higher in the sky now, and the streets were busy with the sounds of everyday life-cars passing by, birds chirping, and neighbors chatting on their porches.

As they walked, Rosie pulled her phone from her pocket, quickly tapping out a message to Chilli.

Rosie (texting): Don't worry about the groceries-we'll grab them while we're out.

She slipped the phone back into her pocket and turned to YN with a smile.

Rosie: You know what, sweetpea? Why don't we stop by the store while we're out? The fridge could use a few more things.

YN: Sure, Grandma. Do we need a lot?

Rosie: Just a few essentials. I'll let you pick out something for yourself, too.

YN grinned, his face lighting up at the prospect of choosing a treat. He loved these little outings with his grandmother, especially when she made room for small joys.

As they walked, Rosie pointed out various things around the neighborhood, sharing little stories or bits of wisdom.

Rosie: See that big oak tree over there? Your mother and Calypso used to climb trees just like that when they were little. They'd get themselves so high up that I'd have to call them down before they gave me a heart attack.

YN looked at her with wide eyes, imagining his auntie and mother as kids.

YN: Did they ever fall?

Rosie: Oh, more times than I can count. Chilli especially-always the daredevil. But Calypso? She was the careful one. She'd climb just high enough to feel proud but not so high that she couldn't get back down.

Rosie laughed softly, the memory bright in her mind.

Rosie: You know, those two were inseparable growing up. I raised them together, and there wasn't a day they didn't have each other's back. Even when they got into mischief, they'd stick together like glue.

YN: Sounds like they had fun.

Rosie: Oh, they did, sweetpea. But they also learned a lot. Falling and getting back up-it's how you grow stronger.

YN nodded, absorbing her words as they approached the corner store. The bell above the door jingled as they stepped inside, the cool air offering a welcome break from the warmth outside.

Rosie: Alright, let's grab what we need. You've got the list, right?

YN pulled a small piece of paper from his pocket and read it aloud.

YN: Eggs, milk, bread, sugar, and coffee.

Rosie: That's my boy. Let's start with the eggs.

They made their way through the aisles, YN carefully grabbing items from the shelves while Rosie guided the cart. She praised him for his efforts, making him feel useful and proud.

Rosie: Good eye, sweetpea. Those eggs look perfect.

After gathering the essentials, Rosie led YN to the snacks aisle.

Rosie: Alright, go ahead and pick out something for yourself.

YN scanned the shelves, finally settling on a small bag of his favorite candy.

YN: This one!

Rosie: Good choice. Now, let's check out before I start buying things we don't need.

At the counter, the cashier, an older anthro fox, smiled warmly at them.

Cashier: Afternoon, Rosie. Got your little helper with you today?

Rosie: The best helper there is. Keeps me on track and everything.

YN blushed slightly but smiled, proud of the compliment.

With their bags packed, they headed back outside into the sunshine. The walk home was slower, the weight of the groceries giving them a reason to take their time. Rosie carried one bag while YN insisted on holding the other.

Rosie: You doing alright there, sweetpea? That bag's not too heavy, is it?

YN: Nope! I've got it.

Rosie chuckled, watching his determined expression as he puffed out his chest.

As they neared their street, Rosie noticed YN's quiet demeanor.

Rosie: You're awfully quiet, sweetpea. Got something on your mind?

YN hesitated before finally speaking.

YN: Not really. Just thinking about what you said earlier... about falling and getting back up.

Rosie stopped walking for a moment and knelt down to his level.

Rosie: It's a good lesson to remember, sweetpea. And you know what? You've already shown me you're pretty good at it.

YN: How?

Rosie: Just by being you. You've been through a lot, but you keep going, keep learning, and keep growing. That's something to be proud of.

YN smiled at her words, feeling a warmth settle in his chest.

By the time they reached the house, the sun was starting to dip lower in the sky. Inside, they unpacked the groceries together, YN eagerly putting his candy in the pantry while Rosie organized the fridge items.

Rosie: How about you help me make dinner later? I was thinking my famous stew.

YN: Can I chop the vegetables?

Rosie: Of course, sweetpea.

The rest of the afternoon passed in comfortable quiet, but YN's thoughts kept circling back to the school they'd passed earlier. He didn't bring it up yet, deciding to wait until he was ready to share.

For now, though, he was content to be home with his grandmother, surrounded by the love and warmth, that made everything feel a little easier.

The kitchen filled with the rich, savory aroma of Rosie's stew as she and YN worked side by side. Rosie stirred the pot with practiced ease, her movements steady and rhythmic, while YN focused intently on chopping the last of the carrots into even pieces. His small hands carefully gripped the knife, guided by the lessons his grandmother had taught him over the years.

Rosie: "That's my boy. You're getting better every day with that knife. Pretty soon, you'll be showing me up in the kitchen."

YN glanced up at her, his brown eyes bright with pride.

YN: "You think so, Grandma?"

Rosie: "I don't think so, sweetpea. I know so. Maybe one day, we'll open a restaurant together. You can be the head chef, and I'll sit back and take the credit."

YN giggled at the idea, the sound light and carefree.

YN: "Only if you promise to help me taste everything first."

Rosie: "That's a deal."

The two of them shared a laugh as YN finished the carrots, handing the cutting board to Rosie, who slid the vibrant orange pieces into the pot.

Rosie: "Alright, that's the last of it. Now we just let it simmer."

Just as Rosie wiped her hands on her apron, the sound of the front door opening echoed through the house. Chilli's voice followed soon after, warm and familiar.

Chilli: "We're home!"

Rosie: "In the kitchen, love!"

Moments later, Chilli and Calypso appeared in the doorway. Chilli had already changed out of her work clothes, her hair damp and curling around her face. Calypso, as always, looked effortlessly put together, her fur freshly brushed and tail swaying lazily behind her.

Chilli: "Mmm, it smells amazing in here."

Calypso: "You've outdone yourself again, Ma. Seriously, this could be on the cover of a food magazine."

Rosie waved her wooden spoon at her daughter, mockingly stern.

Rosie: "Flattery won't get you out of setting the table, Calypso. Now go on, both of you, before this stew starts feeling unloved."

Chilli laughed, leaning down to kiss YN on the top of his head.

Chilli: "You help Grandma with dinner, baby?"

YN nodded eagerly.

YN: "I chopped the vegetables and everything!"

Chilli: "That's my boy. Always so helpful."

Calypso, not to be outdone, ruffled YN's hair as she passed by.

Calypso: "You're putting us all to shame, kiddo. Keep this up, and I'll have to start calling you Chef YN."

YN grinned at the nickname, his chest puffing out a little with pride. Meanwhile, Chilli and Calypso set the table, pulling out plates, silverware, and glasses with practiced ease. Rosie finished stirring the stew and carried the steaming pot to the table, setting it down with a flourish.

Rosie: "Dinner is served. Everyone dig in before it gets cold."

The family sat down together, the atmosphere warm and lively. They passed around bowls and spoons, helping themselves to generous portions of the stew. The first bite was met with a chorus of satisfied hums and murmurs of approval.

Chilli: "Ma, you've really outdone yourself this time. This is amazing."

Calypso: "Seconded. I might need a second bowl before I even finish my first."

Rosie chuckled, clearly pleased with the compliments.

Rosie: "Oh, hush. It's nothing special. YN deserves some of the credit too."

Chilli reached over to squeeze YN's hand, her smile full of pride.

Chilli: "You hear that, baby? You're a star in the kitchen now."

YN ducked his head, a little embarrassed but happy nonetheless. As the meal went on, the conversation shifted to the events of the day. Chilli shared stories from her shift at the airport, her animated retellings earning plenty of laughs.

Chilli: "I'm telling you, this guy had three carry-ons and tried to convince me they counted as one because they nested inside each other. Like I wouldn't notice!"

Calypso snorted, shaking her head.

Calypso: "You should've told him to nest himself inside a suitcase and see how that worked out."

The family burst into laughter, the sound filling the kitchen and making the room feel even warmer. YN smiled along with them, but as the conversation moved on, his thoughts began to drift.

He found himself thinking about the school they'd passed earlier, about the anthro kids playing together on the playground. The image had stayed with him all afternoon, stirring up questions and feelings he hadn't yet put into words.

Rosie noticed his growing silence and reached over to touch his hand gently.

Rosie: "You alright, sweetpea? You've gone awfully quiet."

Her question made the table fall silent. Chilli and Calypso both looked over, their expressions curious and concerned. YN hesitated, glancing down at his bowl as he gathered his thoughts. Finally, he spoke, his voice soft but steady.

YN: "Grandma... Mom... Auntie... can I go to school? Like a normal kid?"

The question hung in the air, heavy and unexpected. Chilli set her spoon down, her brow furrowing as she leaned forward slightly, her expression instantly guarded.

Chilli: "Sweetie, I don't know about that..."

YN looked up at her, his brown eyes full of a mix of hope and uncertainty.

YN: "I just... I saw those kids at the school today. They looked so happy, learning and playing together. I want to try it too."

Chilli's gaze softened, but there was still an edge of hesitation in her eyes.

Chilli: "I know you want to try, baby, but it's not that simple. I mean, you've been through so much, and I just want to protect you. What if something happens? What if those kids don't understand you? Or... or what if something happens to you that we can't fix?"

Her voice trembled slightly at the end, and she reached out to take YN's hand, her grip tight as though trying to keep him close.

YN blinked at her, his chest tightening with the weight of her worries.

YN: "I just... I don't want to be different, Mom. I want to be like them. I want to learn and make friends, just like any other kid."

The room grew still as Chilli sat back in her chair, her expression clouded with concern. She looked at Rosie and Calypso, as though searching for guidance, but they both sat quietly, letting Chilli process her feelings.

Calypso finally spoke, her tone thoughtful.

Calypso: "Chilli, I get it. I really do. You've always been so protective of him. But we have to think about what's best for him. He's asking because he wants to experience things. And maybe that's what we need to allow him to do."

Rosie nodded in agreement, her voice calm but firm.

Rosie: "He's asking for something that's so important to him, Chilli. We can't keep him in a bubble forever. He deserves to have a chance at this, to know what it's like to go to school and have those experiences."

Chilli sighed heavily, her shoulders slumping as she looked down at the table.

Chilli: "I just... I can't stand the thought of him getting hurt. He's been through enough already, and I don't know if I can bear to see him go through more."

The vulnerability in her voice made YN's heart ache, and he reached out to touch her arm.

YN: "Mom... please. I'll be okay. I just want to try."

Chilli looked at him, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. She bit her lip, struggling with the weight of the decision.

Chilli: "I don't know, baby. I really don't know if I'm ready for this."

YN's shoulders sagged, but he didn't give up. He had to keep trying.

YN: "Please, Mom... I want to try. Just once. If I don't like it, I'll come home. But I just want the chance to see what it's like."

The room was silent for a long moment, Chilli's protective instincts warring with the love she had for her son. Finally, she exhaled slowly, a tear slipping down her cheek as she looked at him.

Chilli: "I'll talk to the school... We'll figure it out."

YN smiled softly, relief flooding through him. Rosie gave Chilli a reassuring smile, while Calypso offered a quiet nod.

The conversation left a heavy feeling lingering in the air, but YN felt lighter, knowing his family was coming around. The chapter ended with the family finishing their meal in thoughtful silence, the quiet understanding that this was only the beginning of something bigger. __________________________________________ And there we have it yn has grown up a little which leaves me to make more room for better chapters and as some of you might notice the chapter Is kinda long but I wanted it to be longer kinda but this is fine with me but I hope yall enjoy this chapter and leave some comments on what yall want to see for future chapters for this story but I'm tired and sick so I'll see you fine women and gentlemen later __________________________________________
