Suddenly, he smiled in the familiar creepy way of his.

"Cortello! What a surprise!" His voice was clear.

Athena instinctively stumbled back as he took a step in her direction.

No way!!

How could it be?!

Just how could it be possible?!

She chanted in her mind. She refused to believe this.

There was no way Angelo Riccordo was standing in front of her and very well alive.

*******************

Athena began to breathe heavily and without thinking, she turned back to run. But before she could even take a step, Angelo had grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

Athena trembled badly as he wrapped his other arm around her waist.

"What's the hurry?" He chuckled lowly in her ear. His lips touched the tip of her ear slightly making Athena shudder.

"LET GO!" She screamed out and elbowed him back in the face.

He avoided the hit but he had to release her eventually. It seemed like he did not expect her to actually hit him.

Athena took the chance to run.

Angelo did not chase her, Athena could feel his eyes on her back as he remained standing there, watching her run. She did not turn back even once until she was out of his sight.

She managed to get back to her room and slammed the door shut. She leaned against it and covered her mouth with her hand tightly to hold back a cry.

Her other hand held the door handle and she unconsciously scratched her nails on it.

It took her several minutes to calm down.

In this whole ordeal, her head started to buzz in pain again. This time, the pain was multiple times terrible.

Her eyes fell on the window of the room and she rushed towards it. Her hands were still quivering slightly as she undid the blinds.

She looked down, not knowing what was she expecting.

Her room was several floors up, so she could not really see clearly but under the lighting, she managed to find Angelo again. He was leaning against a car and seemed to be on his phone, talking to someone.

Suddenly, he looked up. Athena stepped back silently. She did not know if he had seen her or not.

Athena bit her lip. After a moment, she again looked down and found him getting into his car. She kept staring at the car confused until he drove out of the hospital gates.

If her memory was correct, Angelo should never be here, alive and kicking. She had seen his dead body, it all happened in front of her eyes.

"What the hell is even going on? How can a dead person, become very much alive?"

'She has to get back home.' After a moment she thought, now much determined.

She checked the time to see that it was almost 3 in the morning. She held her head as she felt a new wave of pain in her head.

"This pain is going to kill me." She gritted her teeth.

She chugged down some pain killers the nurse had left in her room earlier and restlessly, walked back and forth in the room.

Hours later, the nurse entered her room as usual but she paused at the door. Her eyes widened in surprise to see that Athena was not in the room. She checked the bathroom too before with a look of clear panic on her face, she ran out.

She inquired about Athena from other staff who had a night shift. But no one had seen her. Just like her, they become pale too and they frantically began to search the whole hospital while Athena's nurse ran to the security room to check the footage of surveillance camera.

She frowned as she looked at the screen, Athena had sneaked out of the hospital around 4 in the morning. She avoided the staff cleverly without even disguising herself.

'Since when did Ms. Athena became so smart?' The nurse's trail of thought was strange.

The nurse ran to the doctor office to inform him. The man almost collapsed as he heard her.

If there was another patient, he probably would not have cared but this Ms. Athena was different. Sweat trailed down his back as with trembling fingers, he picked up his phone and dialed a familiar number.

The phone was answered at the last ring, however the other party did not speak.

"Mr. C-cortello...Miss A-athena ran away from the hospital."

The doctor was not expecting any answer to begin with. He slumped on his chair as the line went dead.

"Is t-this Miss Athena even want to live? She keeps provoking them." The nurse could not help but comment fearfully. She hoped that she and the hospital would not have to face consequences because of Athena's stunt.

The doctor did not answer. He was too busy to calm his nerves.

'On second thought, she did indeed attempted to suicide.' The nurse did not dare to say it out loud.
