Athena sighed and sank deeper into the water with her eyes closed.
All of this was confusing and she had to figure everything out urgently.
The last question which she tried to avoid but it kept bugging somewhere in her mind was-
How could Angelo Riccardo be alive? ****
After the bath, Athena stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her. She saw the clothes Rachel had prepared for her. Her brows furrowed with displeasure.
She put them back in the closet and after a little struggle, she managed to find a black top which looked a little decent. She matched it up with a pair of navy blue jeans.
After dressing up, she brushed her hair and looked at herself in the mirror. The bruises on her face were somewhat healed but they still looked bad, which explained the reason why she got so many strange looks on the way here.
Just how badly had someone beaten her?
The question troubled her.
Just as Athena was about to get out of the room, she heard a sound of gunshot.
BANG!
She flinched.
The bang was followed by other. She hurriedly turned towards the window and looked down.
Her heart dropped at the sight.
Him being dressed in a black trench coat, she was not wrong in recognizing him.
Romeo!
What surprised her the most were the several bleeding and beaten men who kneeled in front of him.
Athena blinked in shock. Suddenly, he paused. He turned his head back slightly.
He was not looking directly at her but Athena somehow knew that he was aware that she was standing there.
He said something to the men who were kneeling down. They looked at him with shock and then hesitated, before they began to run away from him.
Athena gripped the windowsill as she watched him raising his gun back at their running figures.
Not having enough will-power to keep watching, she stepped back and shut the window with a slam.
Athena knew about her cousins' business but this was never Romeo's style. He would avoid violence if given a chance.
Athena exited her room and made her way downstairs, she stepped into the dining room where Rachel and one of the other maid were setting up her breakfast. After doing so, they left her alone to have breakfast.
Athena looked down at the food in front of her but her mind was no longer on it.
The sound of footsteps woke her up from her daydream. She looked up and saw as Romeo entered her line of vision through the grand doors of dining room. He turned his head to look at her. He did not say anything to her but passed by the room to head upstairs.
"Romeo!" She called his name almost immediately and stood up from her seat to run after him.
He did not stop even after then.
"Romeo!" She called again.
This time he stopped. He turned his head around to look at her.
Athena felt her heart drop. He was looking at her with such a gaze as if she was just a stranger.
"What's wrong?" She asked cautiously.
"Why won't you talk to me? I-I called you but you did not even come to pick me up from the hospital? A-are you mad at me?" Her vision felt blurry and a lump formed in her throat suddenly.
All of this that happened was finally catching up to her. She did not remember how did she get so much hurt except for getting shot, but it still pained her.
"I warned you Athena, what would happen if you get in my way." He spoke for the first time in front of her since she woke up.
His voice was same but it was filled with something strange, almost sinister. It was filled with ruthlessness and all of it was aimed at her. He did not even bother to hide it.
"W-what?" She was puzzled at this sudden switch in his personality.
"Continue asking questions and I will make you have another trip to the hospital." He chuckled lowly and then turned back to head upstairs.
Athena watched as he moved out of her sight.
His words deliberately pointed at something.
Does that mean-the injuries on her-- it hurt her that she almost understood the meaning behind his words but she acted oblivious.
'No! This cannot be....! He must be talking about something else!'
She tricked her brain into thinking this but it did not stop the few tears from leaking down her eyes.
It can never be true. Romeo could never hurt her.
