Athaliah's Kensington's Pov.
I tried to wake up. My eyes felt heavy. Both my eyelids are attached to each other like they are pasted by glue. After putting some more force to open my eyes, I saw the ceiling of my room. I shifted on my side just to get shocked. Aldric is sleeping in the sitting position beside my head. His left arm is resting loosely in his lap. His right hand is placed on my head. His legs are bent at the knees, with feet planted flat on the ground. I roamed my eyes toward the whole room.
Zephyrus is sleeping near my foot. His hands are on both mu feet as if he was massaging them before falling into deep slumber.
Ezekiel is lying on the floor beside the bed, his head resting on a pillow that's clearly not his own, the edges of the pillowcase crumpled from being shifted during the night. His legs are stretched out, one arm tossed casually above his head, the other still gripping a corner of the blanket as if not wanting to let go of the warmth of the room.
Royce has somehow managed to squeeze himself into a chair near the window, slouched forward in an awkward but deep sleep, his chin resting against his chest. His body is bent at an odd angle, but he remains undisturbed, his breathing slow and steady.
Kaelen is lying flat on the floor, an old hoodie serving as a makeshift blanket. He's curled up in a fetal position, arms wrapped around his knees, his face soft and relaxed in sleep. His legs are tangled in the fabric, but he doesn't seem to mind—he's simply found comfort wherever he could.
Royce is sleeping beside the door of my room, also in sitting position, as if he is guarding my door.
What is happening here?
For a moment I am blank.
Then it all came crashing down on me. The club. The fight. The panic attack.
I can say for sure that last night's panic attack was a major one where I start hallucinating. I have been skipping therapy for a long time.
I need to go for one soon. But before that there is one pending task that I have to complete.
I tried to get up from my bed and saw my hand was bandaged.
I again tried to get up when Aldric stirred and woke up.
"You are awake. Do you need something?"
He whispered considering his brothers are still sleeping.
"No. I just want to freshen up."
He nodded and gave me much needed space to get up and walk towards my washroom.
Once inside, I started replaying last night in my mind.
I don't regret telling them a little about my past. They should know what torture their father put me through.
After freshening up, I went to my room and found it empty. I went downstairs as its time for breakfast.
We all sat at the dining table and were eating silently. Nobody spoke or asked anything.
Suddenly, there was a deafening sound that shook the air. A blinding flash of light erupted from the backyard, followed by a massive roar, like a thunderclap on steroids.
All the Kensington brothers, suddenly alarmed, drew their guns and told me to hide under the table. Faces turn toward the backyard, their eyes wide with disbelief at the chaotic sight unfolding just beyond the door
"Athaliah, hide and don't come out till we say." Aldric said.
"Don't you think you guys are over-reacting without knowing what is happening." I said nonchalantly.
"What do you mean?" Ezekiel asked.
"Do you know something?" Asked Zephyrus.
"First, let's go to the backyard to see. I am sure your doubts will be cleared." I said and stood up to leave.
"Darling, stay back. It can be dangerous." Kaelen spoke.
Without paying him any heed, I went to the backyard to see the mess. Behind me were all the Kensington brothers.
Dust and debris flew into the air as the car, to be more specific, McLaren 720S or Reuben's favourite car, is sent tumbling through the yard, twisting and rolling in the chaos.
Its once pristine body crumples under the force, the windows shattering in sharp, glinting shards. The tires screech in their final, desperate spin, and the sound of metal scraping against the ground is followed by a gut-wrenching crunch.
"That's my favourite car."
"Well, it was. It's just a metal wreck now." Royce replied.
I stood there, watching with a cold, triumphant expression, as Reuben's favorite car was engulfed in flames.
I sighed and said, "As much as I would to see this show go on, I am still hungry."
Saying this, I went inside.
Reuben's expression after seeing his car was to die for. He was utterly shocked, stood frozen for a moment. A look of horror twisted across his face.
I was in the living room when Reuben yelled,
"It was you right. Who blew up my car."
"Maybe," I paused and said, "maybe not."
"Don't fool me. That was my favorite car. Do you know much I begged Aldric to get me that car. I had to do the laundry of the whole house for two months to get that car."
"That's good for you. You need to learn household chores rather than being an idiot."
"You are as good as dead now. You shouldn't have messed with my car." Reuben spoke with enrage in his voice.
"Don't try to do anything that get can backfire you, Reuben." I said. My voice as cold as ice.
I stepped forward towards him and spoke staring right into his eyes, "Treat me like shit again and next time, it won't be just your car that will be blown up."
Something like hurt or guilt passed through his eyes before he blinked.
"Wow. You are such a badass." Kaelen said.
"It is so satisfying seeing someone finally put my twin in his place."
"You two," Reuben said pointing his index finger towards Kaelen and Royce, and continued, "Shut up."
"Aldric, she can't get away with what she had done."
"You shouldn't have treated her like that, you little shit." Zephyrus said supressing a smile.
"Well, I was about to discipline you for your act. But looks like our sister already did it." Aldric said, directing the last part towards me.
"Are you seriously letting her go. She took our parents away from us and now she is succeeding in taking my brothers away from me." Reuben spoke with venom in his voice.
"Reuben." Ezekiel warned him.
"Listen very carefully, Reuben. I did not take your parents away from you. And about your brothers, I don't want them. So, stop blaming." I said, tired of his accusations.
"Well, Reuben needed to be disciplined. However, what you did was very intense Athaliah. There will be consequences for your actions." Aldric said, taking matters into his hand.
"Since your school is starting, so your punishment is that you will come to The Kensington Office for a whole week after school and help us in the office."
"Are you serious?"
"That's all?"
Me and Reuben spoke at the exact same time.
"Don't you think her punishment is very light. When I crashed my car and got a minor dent on it, I got a punishment of cleaning the garage for two months." Said Royce.
"Exactly. And she just blew my car into ashes."
"You were at fault Reuben. And that is the end of the discussion. If anyone has any problem, you have to face me" Aldric declared.
No one said anything. Tomorrow my school is starting. And now, for one week I have to go to their office.
It's okay. Let's see what they do in their office.
