The next morning, Jun stormed into the repair shop, fists clenched. He didn't bother knocking—he was too angry for that. He found Ed at the counter, drinking his usual black coffee with one sugar cube.
"Ed!" Jun snapped, making the older man glance up.
Ed raised an eyebrow. "What's with you so early in the morning?"
Jun slammed his hands onto the counter. "What the hell is wrong with you?! Why would you say something like that to Blue Cop?!"
Ed sighed, setting his cup down. "Jun, listen—"
"No! You listen!" Jun interrupted. "I get that you don't trust him, but calling him a killer and a mistake? Do you even realize how messed up that is?!"
Ed's expression darkened slightly, but Jun didn't care. "Blue Cop has been through enough, and you just threw salt in his wounds! Do you even know what he's carrying?! He had to destroy his own home planet because Deus Machina ordered him to! He didn't have a choice! And now, everyone blames him for not saving Deus Machina when he was the one who made sure Blue Cop could escape!"
Ed's expression faltered, but Jun kept going. "You think he doesn't feel anything? That he's just some emotionless hunk of scrap metal? You're wrong, Ed. He's hurting, but he doesn't show it because people like you won't even try to understand him!"
Ed looked away, gripping his coffee cup tightly. "I just... I don't know, Jun," he muttered. "I've seen too many things go wrong when you trust something you don't understand."
Jun scoffed. "Then maybe it's time you start trying to understand instead of judging."
Meanwhile, in the back of the repair shop, Mega Trucker was standing outside Blue Cop's newly built room. He hesitated for a moment before slowly walking in.
Blue Cop was sitting on the edge of his bed, staring at the floor. He hadn't moved much since the argument. His usually sharp, focused eyes were dull, his shoulders slumped.
Mega Trucker clenched his fists. He had spent so long hating Blue Cop, blaming him, calling him a killer, that he never thought about what it was like for him. What it must've felt like to be forced to destroy everything.
"...Hey," Mega Trucker finally spoke.
Blue Cop didn't react.
Mega Trucker sighed and scratched the back of his head. "Look, uh... about yesterday. I..." He hesitated, then forced the words out. "I'm sorry."
That got Blue Cop's attention. His gaze lifted slightly, but he still didn't respond.
"I was so caught up in blaming you that I never thought about what you went through," Mega Trucker admitted. "Hearing what Ed said just made me realize how much of an ass I was to you. I... I get it now. No one ever asked you how you felt, huh?"
Blue Cop's hands clenched on his lap. His body trembled slightly, and Mega Trucker saw something he never expected—tears. They silently rolled down Blue Cop's cheeks, glistening under the dim light of the room.
For the first time since everything happened, Blue Cop let himself cry.
Mega Trucker hesitated again before stepping forward and wrapping his arms around Blue Cop in a firm but careful hug. "You're not alone, alright? I got your back now."
Blue Cop stiffened at first, but then, slowly, his hands gripped the fabric of Mega Trucker's vest.
Outside the room, Jun had arrived just in time to see it. He felt his anger at Ed simmer down slightly as he watched the scene unfold. It wasn't much, but it was a start.
A start to something new.
*THE NEXT DAY*
The night air was cool as Anna hurried down the street, her breath coming in quick gasps. Her heart pounded in her chest as she replayed the terrifying scene over and over in her head—Theo, struggling, yelling for help as Mega Ambler dragged him away. The way the towering figure loomed over him, his green eyes glinting behind that eerie mask of his. It wasn't violent, but the way he kept talking about Theo needing "treatment" made her stomach churn.
She sprinted toward the repair shop, knowing she had to find Jun.
Meanwhile, inside the shop, Ed sat at the table, gripping his coffee mug tightly. Blue Cop stood across from him, his expression unreadable as always. The weight of Ed's earlier words still hung heavy between them, but tonight, the mechanic finally swallowed his pride.
"...I was wrong," Ed admitted, his voice gruff. "I judged you without knowing the full story, and I said things I shouldn't have. You didn't deserve that."
Blue Cop didn't react at first. Then, after a moment, he slowly turned his head toward Ed. "You judged me the same way everyone else did," he said simply, but there was no anger in his voice. Just exhaustion. "But... I accept your apology."
Before Ed could respond, the front door burst open.
"JUN!" Anna practically screamed, her pink hair disheveled, magenta eyes wide with panic. "Theo—Theo's been kidnapped!"
Jun shot to his feet, his heart sinking. "What? By who?!"
"Some guy! He kept saying weird stuff, talking like Theo was his patient or something!" Anna stammered.
Blue Cop and Mega Trucker exchanged a quick look before immediately shifting into their vehicle forms to avoid scaring Anna. The last thing they needed was more panic.
Jun turned to Ed. "We need to go. Now."
Ed nodded firmly. "Go get your friend back. I'll be here when you return."
With that, Jun, Blue Cop, and Mega Trucker sped off into the night, hoping they weren't too late.
*IN THE WEAR HOUSE*
Theo sat stiffly in the old medical bed, Mega Ambler had placed him in. His glasses had slid down his nose slightly, but he made no move to fix them. His heart pounded, his mind racing with possibilities of what was about to happen.
Mega Ambler stood before him, his red hair with green and white highlights barely visible under the dim warehouse lights. His green eyes stared at Theo, unreadable, yet not entirely hostile.
"I'm not here to hurt you," Mega Ambler finally said, his voice calm but firm. "You were just the easiest way to get their attention."
Theo gulped. "Their attention?"
Mega Ambler crossed his arms. "I'm here for Blue Cop."
Before Theo could respond, the warehouse doors suddenly burst open with a loud crash!
KICK!
The force of the impact sent the rusty doors flying off their hinges. Dust and debris swirled through the air as three figures stood in the entrance, silhouetted against the dim light from outside.
Jun stood in the center, his breath heavy with adrenaline. To his right, Blue Cop's blue-and-white frame glowed faintly under the dull warehouse lights, his visor reflecting the surroundings like glass. On the left, Mega Trucker, in his orange, gray, and white form, cracked his knuckles, his towering presence intimidating as ever.
"Alright, where's Theo?!" Jun shouted, stepping forward, fists clenched.
Mega Ambler remained unfazed, barely even glancing at them. Instead, he sighed, shaking his head as if this was all too predictable.
"You didn't have to be so dramatic," he muttered. "I wasn't going to hurt him."
Mega Trucker growled, his voice low and dangerous. "You kidnapped him, you scrap pile! That's enough reason to put you down."
Blue Cop took a slow step forward, eyes locked on Mega Ambler. "If you wanted me, you could've just come to me directly. Let Theo go."
Mega Ambler finally turned to fully face them, his expression still calm. "I wanted to see if you would actually come." His gaze flickered to Blue Cop. "And you did."
Theo, still sitting in the chair, swallowed hard as the tension in the room thickened. The air crackled with unspoken words and clashing motives.
Jun narrowed his eyes. "If you weren't planning to hurt him, then what do you want from Blue Cop?"
Mega Ambler smirked. "To see if he's really worthy of sealing us."
A heavy silence fell over the warehouse.
Then, all at once, the room exploded into motion.
