Chen Yihao didn't immediately push Wang Qian away.
Taking a deep breath, he spoke calmly, "Let your Wang family guests and relatives go home. Everything about this wedding, from start to finish, was financed by me borrowing money and making arrangements. It has nothing to do with your family. The wedding is off now-tell your guests to leave. Oh, and their gift money? Let them take it back themselves."
Despite his composed tone, his words reflected complete resignation.
"Yihao, don't do this, please! I know I was wrong. I won't act like this again, I promise! I've been selfish, and I've made you suffer. Please give me another chance to change, okay?" Wang Qian cried bitterly, shaking her head in despair.
Of course, those tears weren't from genuine remorse-they came only after realizing how influential Chen Yihao's brother-in-law, Ye Chen, truly was.
If it weren't for the sudden appearance of that imposing convoy, or witnessing Ye Chen's sheer power, Wang Qian wouldn't have cared. Marry or not, she wasn't worried about her prospects. After all, she only chose Chen Yihao because he was overly accommodating and obedient, unlike other suitors who, despite being wealthy, were insincere and only wanted to toy with her. For her, Chen Yihao was the safe, controllable choice.
But now, after seeing Ye Chen's influence, her only thought was: I absolutely cannot lose Chen Yihao. Never!
"Wang Qian, we're done. Completely done. There's no going back for us. As I said before, I'm not worthy of you-I really can't measure up!" Chen Yihao said, his tone calm but resolute, as he forcefully freed himself from her grasp.
His firm attitude and indifferent words shattered the last glimmer of hope in Wang Qian's heart.
"Chen Yihao, do you have to be this heartless?! We've been together for three years-three whole years! Is this how you treat me? Are you even human?" she screamed, collapsing into tears.
To an uninformed bystander, it might look like Chen Yihao was the villain in this story, a heartless playboy discarding his partner.
But Chen Yihao, who had initially turned to leave for the Panamera, paused.
Turning back with a look of disdain, he spoke, not angrily but mockingly, his tone as calm as still water.
"Wang Qian, do you even have the right to say that to me? Three years-three years! Do you have any idea what those three years have been like for me? Being with you, I spent three years living like a doormat, degrading myself every single day! You said your phone is personal and refused to let me touch it-I accepted that. You said dining and drinking with male friends was part of your social life, and I tolerated that too.
"You squandered my meager salary on luxury brands and appearances. I never complained. Whenever I hesitated, you'd threaten me with breaking up. I gave in every time! For three years, I served you like a beast of burden, enduring your temper, your insults, and your demands, always walking on eggshells around you. I abandoned my basic dignity as a man!
"When it came to marriage, you knew my family's financial situation, yet you and your mother demanded an 180,000-yuan dowry, a house, and a car. You might as well have asked for my life! I was already at my limit, but it was my parents who begged me to give in once again. To meet your demands, they emptied their savings and borrowed from their future. And I still swallowed my pride and agreed.
"But today, on this wedding day, you raised the bet again, demanding an exorbitant 'getting off the car' gift. What did you want-my family to sell their blood to meet your demands?"
He laughed bitterly and shook his head. "But no, this isn't just about the 'getting off the car' gift. That was just the final straw. The moment your family insisted on 66,000 yuan to let you step out of the car, my heart completely died. The old, servile Chen Yihao is gone forever!"
"And one last thing," he added with a smirk, "if Ye Chen hadn't made that call and brought all these influential young men and this grand convoy, would you still be here, crying and begging me for forgiveness? Do you think I'm a fool? I know exactly what's in your heart. I just chose not to expose it before. So let's part ways with some dignity."
His words carried a chilling indifference, as though he were discussing something utterly unrelated to himself. Without a hint of emotion, he smiled faintly and strode toward the Panamera.
"Ahhhh!!!" Wang Qian collapsed to the ground, sobbing hysterically.
Watching the scene unfold, Zhang Jingshan couldn't help but comment to Ye Chen, "Brother Ye, your brother-in-law sure has a peculiar taste in women, huh?"
Ye Chen shot him a glare. "Get lost."
"Uh, right away!" Zhang Jingshan laughed awkwardly.
Ye Chen turned to him and ordered, "Go. Have the hotel staff take down all the wedding decorations and banners. Tell the bride's guests to leave, and turn the wedding banquet into an engagement party."
"Got it!" Zhang Jingshan replied, forgetting his status as he eagerly ran off to execute the instructions.
Meanwhile, as Ye Chen's commanding presence turned even the grandson of a high-ranking official into an errand boy, Chen Jianguo and Liu Xueqin watched in stunned disbelief.
Recalling how they had treated Ye Chen, Chen Yinuo, and little Yoyo in the past, the two who had epitomized materialistic snobbery were now paralyzed with guilt and regret.
"Yoyo, come here. Let Grandma hold you," Liu Xueqin forced a smile and reached out to the child.
But Yoyo quickly ducked away. "No! Grandma is bad. I don't want to play with Grandma!"
"Come on, sweetie," Liu Xueqin said awkwardly, "you grew up at Grandma's house!"
"Hmph! Only because Mom made me go. I didn't want to! You and Grandpa always yelled at me and Mom, and you even tried to kick us out. I've seen Mom cry so many times because of you!" the little girl retorted, her innocent honesty cutting deep.
Liu Xueqin and Chen Jianguo stood there, red-faced and humiliated.
Ignoring them, Ye Chen smiled and took Yoyo's hand. "Let's go, sweetheart."
"Okay, Daddy!" she chirped.
Chen Yinuo smiled softly, and the family of three headed inside, leaving the embarrassed elders behind.
