The Bauhinia Kindergarten
It was dismissal time.
Rows of private cars lined up at the kindergarten gates, subtly elevating the status of Bauhinia Kindergarten.
Although it wasn't quite on the level of elite schools with luxury cars scattered everywhere, entry-level Mercedes-Benz, BMWs, Audis, and Lexus vehicles were still common sights.
Unlike other kids, who eagerly dashed toward the waiting private cars, Ye Youyou stood alone under the Bauhinia tree near the school gate.
She was used to it.
Her mom was almost always the last to pick her up.
Watching her classmates gleefully climb into car after car, Ye Youyou's eyes betrayed no envy or longing.
"Ye Youyou, the wild child without a father!"
"Ye Youyou, the wild child without a father!"
"Ye Youyou, the wild child without a father!"
Suddenly, a childish taunting voice rang out from behind her.
Ye Youyou immediately stood up from under the tree, furious, and spun around.
She saw a chubby boy leading a group of kids, laughing loudly and shouting at her.
"Zhu Tongtong, are you asking for a beating again?" Ye Youyou clenched her small fists and yelled angrily.
Hearing the phrase "asking for a beating," the chubby Zhu Tongtong gritted his teeth.
Just two hours ago, Ye Youyou had knocked him to the ground.
It all started because Zhu Tongtong wanted her eraser, and Ye Youyou refused. Zhu Tongtong tried to snatch it, but before the teacher could intervene, he was nearly crying from the beating.
"I'm warning you! I have a dad! My dad's name is Ye Chen! If you dare say I don't have a dad again, I'll beat you up!" Ye Youyou shouted furiously.
Zhu Tongtong glanced at his little group of followers and suddenly gained some confidence.
"I'll say it! I'll say it as much as I want! What can you do about it?"
"Ye Youyou, the wild child without a father!"
"Ye Youyou, the wild child without a father!"
The chubby boy mocked her gleefully, clearly still holding a grudge.
"You're asking for it!"
Ye Youyou dropped her little backpack and, like an enraged lion cub, charged at him.
She shoved the chubby boy hard, catching him off guard and knocking him to the ground.
But Ye Youyou wasn't done.
She kicked him furiously with her little feet.
"This is for saying I don't have a dad! I do have a dad! My dad is Ye Chen!"
Ignoring the other kids who had followed Zhu Tongtong, Ye Youyou cried out her grievances while continuing to kick him.
"Hit her! Help me beat her!" Zhu Tongtong shouted at his group of followers: Zhou Xiaole, Wang Ziming, and Qin Shuai. "Didn't you promise to help me fight her?"
Despite his ample body fat, Zhu Tongtong had zero combat skills.
But seeing Ye Youyou's ferocity, the other kids hesitated, suddenly too afraid to act.
"If anyone dares to help him, don't let me catch you alone later. If I do, I'll beat you every time I see you!" Ye Youyou, as fierce as ever, shouted while continuing to kick Zhu Tongtong.
At that moment, she was a far cry from the obedient and sweet girl she appeared to be in front of her parents, Ye Chen and Chen Yinuo.
Sure enough, her threats made Zhu Tongtong's little posse retreat.
They quickly abandoned their promise to help him.
"Waaaah! Waaaah!"
Seeing no one come to his aid, Zhu Tongtong burst into tears.
"Ye Youyou, just you wait! Wait until I tell my parents you hit me!" he sobbed. "My mom and dad won't let you off! You poor kid! You and your cheap electric scooter!"
Ye Youyou had been about to stop, but Zhu Tongtong's words only made her kick harder.
By now, her actions had drawn the attention of many kids and parents.
Just as several parents were about to step in and separate the two, Vice Principal Zhou Xiaolan rushed over and quickly pulled Ye Youyou aside.
"Youyou! What's gotten into you? Why are you fighting again? How many times have I told you not to hit people?" Zhou Xiaolan scolded, before helping the sobbing Zhu Tongtong to his feet.
Everyone at Bauhinia Kindergarten was well-acquainted with Zhu Tongtong. He was a notorious troublemaker.
His father was reportedly the CEO of some company, and they'd just bought a brand-new Mercedes-Benz. The boy flaunted it at school every day.
What saddened the staff the most was that, at just five years old, Zhu Tongtong already exemplified materialism and arrogance.
The faculty had tried to correct his behavior, but his overindulgent mother made any efforts futile.
Zhu Tongtong also had a habit of bullying girls, which had previously earned him a beating from Ye Youyou. Clearly, he hadn't learned his lesson.
"Teacher Zhou, I won't let her get away with this! I'll tell my mom to teach this wild, poor girl a lesson!" Zhu Tongtong wailed.
Hearing herself called a "wild child" again, Ye Youyou furiously tried to lunge at him once more, only to be stopped by Zhou Xiaolan.
"Youyou! Are you still trying to hit him? Why are you so disobedient?" Zhou Xiaolan reprimanded.
"He called me a wild child without a dad! But I have a dad! My dad is Ye Chen!" Ye Youyou cried, her lips trembling as she wiped her tears.
Zhou Xiaolan froze, her heart heavy with pity.
"You are a wild child! You don't have a dad! If you do, then why hasn't he ever picked you up? I asked my mom why I've never seen your dad, and she said you're a wild child without a dad! She told me not to play with you!" Zhu Tongtong shouted back.
"How could your mom say something so cruel?" Zhou Xiaolan snapped, her anger rising.
She recalled Ye Chen coming just days ago to pay Ye Youyou's tuition. His attitude had been kind and respectful.
But for Zhu Tongtong's mother to teach her son to call someone a "wild child"?
Yes, there had been a conflict last year between Ye Chen and Zhu Tongtong's parents during the Children's Day performance, but was that a reason to poison a child's mind with such malice?
Just then, a brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLC300 pulled up to the gate.
A woman wearing heavy makeup, glittering jewelry, and oversized sunglasses stepped out of the passenger seat. Her appearance screamed wealth and vanity.
"Tongtong, Mommy's here to take you home!"
"Mommy, I got beaten up by Ye Youyou! She pushed me down and kicked me a thousand times! It hurts so much!" Zhu Tongtong wailed as he ran toward her, crying even louder.
Zhou Xiaolan's heart sank.
This was bad.
They all knew what kind of person Zhu Tongtong's mother was.
