T.W- panic, mental distress

Third person pov

Akira tossed and turned the whole night after Diana left. She got up as the first rays of morning light seeped into her room and decided to make herself useful. She took a shower, dried her hair, got ready for the day, sharpened her knives. Anything and Everything to distract her from her thoughts.

At 7 am, she decided it was time for her to go downstairs for breakfast.

Diana and Eiran were shuffling around the kitchen in a practiced rhythm as they prepared breakfast. Akira entered silently and Diana, accustomed to this, snapped her head up at her and smiled.

"Good morning Akira" Eiran says with his back at both Akira and Diana.

"Morning" she responds flatly and pours herself some water from the fridge.

She takes a seat on the one of the barstools and, without missing a beat, Eiran passes scrambled eggs and toast to her. She quickly digs in after muttering a quick thanks to him. Eiran pours her a glass of orange juice and places it by her side.

Kai and Leo make their way downstairs not much later and sit down for breakfast as well.

"Ready for school today?" Eiran asks cheerfully as he passes both of them scrambled eggs and toast as well.

"Don't remind me" Leo groans as he shoves a forkfull of eggs into his mouth.

Kai chuckles at him and takes a swig of his orange juice. But his laugh is cut short by the heaviness that settles around the room as Sebastian enters the kitchen.

Akira quitely stands up as respect and courtesy for her boss. The room tenses up a notch more by that action and Diana speaks up.

"Akira, sweety, sit down" she says softly and firmly but the tension in her voice is palpable.

Akira sits down hesitantly and gets back to her food. Sebastian pours himself some orange juice and drinks deeply.

"Good morning Seb!" Eiran tries to lighten the mood with his forced cheerfulness.

"Morning" he answers mildly as he puts some scrambled eggs into his plate.

He sits on the rightmost bar stool, one seat away from Akira, away from evryone and eats quitely.

Time skip

Akira was ready to head to the base as she came downstairs. Leo and Kai were not present. Again. She had to wait on them every single day. It was simply infuriating how someone can be so lazy about being on time.

Diana emerged from the living room and called Akira "come with me" She led Akira to her study and they both sat down opposite each other.

"Akira do you mind missing training for today?" She asks sweetly, her eyes holding Akira's firmly in their grip.

"No" Akira says with neutrality and asks "why?"

"I am sure you know that Sebastian is going to a party for an important meeting" she starts

Akira nods.

"Well, I don't have a good feeling about it" she says shifting uncomfortably in her chair "The security is prepared for anything and everything and yet something feels...off"

Akira nods once again, waiting for her to suggest something.

"So, I want you to secretly gaurd Sebastian" She says promptly and then adds "if you're okay with it?"

Akira considers for a few moments before answering with another question "will I be lying to boss?"

"Not exactly" Diana begins professionally "it's for your Boss's own safety Akira."

When Akira does not look she convinced, she adds "It's better if he doesn't know about it now" and continues after a pause "you can disclose it to him after the meeting"

She won't exactly be lying to her boss if he didn't ask anything and neither is it disloyal when it's for his own protection, Akira thinks.

Diana tried to convince Akira, as much as she hated Akira and Sebastian's relationship being completely that of a boss and a member.

Akira speaks up "alright what's the plan?"

"You'll dress up as a server and keep an eye on Sebastian" she explains "he will be meeting the oldest son and soon-to-be-don of the Italians"

The Italians. That explains the tension. She muses.

"They are going to be discussing an arms import deal" Diana continues "And we haven't really had much relations with this mafia, this could be start to something really good-or really bad"

Akira nods in understanding. She found it understandable to be worried about safety when it came to meeting with such mafias. Even her last boss took more guards with him during such meetings.

"How do I look the part?" Akira realised that she didn't have clothes to look like a server.

Diana smiled a Knowingly as she said "I got you cover up"

She got up from her seat and picked up a bag on the couch placed on the side of the room. Akira had noticed how the bag looked out of place in her neatly organized and polished office when she first entered but not given it much thought.

Akira takes the bag as Diana holds it forward.

"Be ready at five" Diana explains "you'll follow Sebastian in his another car with other the guards okay?"

"Okay" Akira assures her.

Akira takes the bag and heads to her room. Finally she gets to go on an actual job. She enters her room and realises how it's 4 pm already. She only had an hour to get ready.

Getting ready quickly was something Akira was extremely good at. One of the skills she learned at her old mafia. She discreetly hid her gun and knives in her suit and brushed her hair back. Her hair, it was one of the most important things which helped her pass as a boy easily due to being so short. She found this hair length extremely practical and easy to manage.

It was 4:50 and Akira was going through her phone as she sat on her bed. An alarm went off on her phone and she put on her black combat boots and headed downstairs.

She found Diana pacing in the living room and decided to announce herself by clearing her throat. Diana's neck snapped towards her and she hurried towards her.

"You can't go with rest of the guards" she says, her voice urgent "I don't want anyone to find out about you"

Akira stares at her, unmoved, waiting for her to propose something.

"Can you ride on one of the bikes?" She asks.

"Yes" Akira responds with a neutral expression, trying to keep the excitement out of her face and voice.

"Alright then" Diana takes a sigh of relief and takes out her phone before continuing "check your phone Akira, I've sent you the location."

Akira opened her phone to find the location sent to her phone.

"I should leave" Akira speaks up, noticing that she had leave quickly or she would be late.

"Yes" diana agrees and then adds as an after thought "Akira, do keep in mind that Sebastian doesn't drink alright?"

"Ok" she says before taking her leave.

That's weird. Even kids in the Mafia drink, so why doesn't the Don of one the most powerful mafia?

Her thoughts came to a halt as she put on the helmet that Leo had given her and grabbed the keys of the BMW. She turned the engine on and exited the house.

She notices how the map showed that it would take her thirty minutes to get to the place but, as a server, she has to present at 5:15 which was ten minutes from now. So that was her excuse for the speeds which she drove at.

She parked in spot where no one could spot and recognize the bike and headed inside through the back door. It was a large hall and the tables were being set by the workers. She quickly blended in with the people, trying to get as much information as she could about the event.

It wasn't long before the entire hall and the first floor of the building were brimmed with guests and she was running around with orders. She was handing an order to the guests when she notices her boss enter. Oh so That's the reason she had noticed the guards trying to blend in with the people and scatter around a few minutes earlier.

She noticed the table which her boss sat at and took in the representative of the Italian mafia. Diana had asked his name yesterday.. Armando Rossi.

She discreetly kept her watchful eyes at them as she took orders from nearby tables, not wandering away even for a second. The meeting seemed to be going well, Armando Rossi had smiled a few times. She noticed how her boss just remained calm and confident, like always. How was he always like that? She wondered.

She hadn't taken orders from their table, afraid that her boss might notice her. She saw Armando Rossi drinking alcohol while her boss just stuck with water- just as Diana had told her.

It was 12:30 am and yet there negotiations showed no clue of ending anytime soon. Akira could not be tired while she was working, that had been drilled into her. She lingered a little farther than them to avoid suspicion and kept her eyes on them.

She had been called to deliver an order to another table and while she was doing that, she noticed her boss walking away. He was headed to the washrooms and Akira noticed his hand shaking which he promptly hid in his pocket.

She discreetly followed him, weaving through the crowd of people. Was something wrong? Akira got suspicious when Sebastian missed turn to the bathrooms and headed straight for the backdoor. She noticed, through what little glimpses she could catch of him, that his body seemed to fold more and more in on itself.

She tried push last people to reach him but his walk was hasty and unsteady, keeping her at a distance. He opened the back door with a shaky hands and ran outside. Akira followed him as closely as she could before bursting out of the door herself. She looked around from side to side to figure out where he went when she noticed a person huddled in a dark corner of the ally.

Her stomach flipped. He was shaking uncontrollably and muttering incoherently. His muttering got louder as she approached him. He had head tucked between his arms and knees driven upto his face, trying to make himself as small as possible.

"Sir?" She asked hesitantly, not knowing how to act.

His breathing was uneven and eyes bloodshot looked up at her, unfocused, as he mumbled "s-sorry s-sir"
