Third person pov
Akira turns and throws her leg over his torso and snuggles closer to him. His arm is extended under her head while a leg is draped over the edge of the bed. Sebastian had fallen asleep on the chair earlier.
However, after finding himself on the floor, he sleepily climbed on the bed not realising where he was. And that's how Akira ends up snuggling with him.
She turns once again, throwing her hand over his face. And then with groan, she drags her eyes open, unsuccessfully. With half closed eyes, she swings her legs down the bed and walks over to the bathroom.
The light in the bathroom clicks on. The water splashing as she washes her hands is the only sound in the silence of the night. She looks up from her hands at her reflection. From the mirror stares back a sleepy Akira wearing a suit.
Wait, wearing a suit?
The sleep lessens from her eyes as she looks down at her clothes. Shirt and pants, from the ball. She didn't change after coming? When did she come? All she remembers is boss driving them back.
A yawn escapes her lips as she opens the bathroom door, ready to walk into the wardrobe and change. The light from the bathroom spills into room revealing a sleeping form on her bed.
Her eyes widen with shock and her hand instinctively go towards the waistband on her back, to grab her knife. The knife isn't there. Her eyes stay fixed on the slow breathing form of a man on her bed as she searches herself for her other knives.
No knife. Where the fuck did her knives go? She remembers hiding all of them along with her gun, which is missing as well. The man turns over and with an echoing thump lands on the floor. She ceases all movement and stares at him, slowly moving into the shadows.
The man immediately sits up straight, clearly shaken from the fall. His head turns towards the the empty bed and darts between the open bathroom door and the bed, back and forth.
Akira notices something on her bedside table reflect some light. Her gun, she realizes, and starts inching towards it. The man gets up and stares at the open bathroom door. In one sweeping motion, she grabs her gun and points it at him.
"Move and you die" Her cold voice startles him and he stares at the shadows where it came from, unable to find her.
"It's me" his voice sounds husky as he slowly turns to the side and switches the lights on.
His blank eyes soften as she finally becomes visible to him, holding up a gun and a dangerous expression. She slowly lowers her gun as she tries to reason for his presence.
"What are you doing here?" She asks ,confused, as she places the gun back at the bedside table.
On the table, she notices all her other knives lying there too.
"I..uhh.. accidentally fell asleep here" He speaks slowly, looking at the chair by the bed "sorry"
She stares at him, figuring out what the fuck is she supposed to reply to someone so higher up in position than her saying sorry to her.
"It's-it's alright" she says looking away from him.
To escape the awkwardness, she averts her eyes and walks into the closet. He was wearing the suit too. But the biggest question that plagued her mind as she changed was, why the actual fuck was he sleeping on her bed? alongside her?
Her sleepy mind didn't help as she tried to think back to what she was doing before she fell asleep. How did she not realise when he entered the room?
Finally, as she prepares herself to face him, and after changing into her pajamas, she opens the door. An empty room greets her searching eyes. He isn't here. She lets out a breath that she didn't know she had been holding.
Shutting the door behind her, she walks to her bed and lays under the blanket. She turns her phone on and the numbers 03 : 12 stare back at her. She puts the phone back on the bedside table and switches the light off.
She turns to stare at the place where he was sleeping as darkness and silence engulfs the room. It's colder now.
Time skip
"What's the status?" Sebastian asks as he leans against his car which stands blocking the way, as his men stand beside him and in the woods around them.
"They've left sir" The voice on the other end of the phone call responds "You have approximately 22 minutes"
He ends the call and addresses his men.
"Carlos is my kill" He warns everyone, his voice carrying the authority of a don and the coldness of a killer "not a single soul leaves here breathing"
"Yes sir!" All of them answer in unison.
They all take their positions while he stands there, waiting. A black car comes into view as it turns into this path with a another similar car trailing behind it.
Both the cars come to halt in front of Sebastian as he stands leaning on his car. His dead eyes make contact with Carlos' confused and soon afraid eyes through the wind shield.
Carlos' men exit from the car in the back, guns pointed at Sebastian. An armed soldier exits from the backseat of Carlos' car and walks to the other side and opens that door. Another equally armed soldier exits the backseat, followed by Carlos himself.
The two soldiers shadow him as he walks towards Sebastian with a wobbly smile on is face. Akira used to be one of those masked soldiers, the sudden thought makes his blood boil but he keeps a straight face.
"Hello Sebastian, good friend" Carlos says walking towards him.
And then, in the blink of an eye, the sound of numerous bullets shooting from guns fills the woods. Carlos turns around as all his men fall to ground with a thud, their weapons lying uselessly beside them. His face contorts into equal parts anger and fear as he turns back to Sebastian.
He reaches for his gun but is punched by Sebastian before he could do so. He stumbles back he walks towards him, slow and calculated. There's a glint in his eyes as he takes the gun he had been trying to reach for and throws it to the side.
Carlos tries to fight back but lands on the ground with a bruised face instead. Sebastian continues driving blow after blow into him with blank face as he spits up blood and tries to breathe through the pain.
He spits blood to his side and asks through ragged breaths "What- Did-" Sebastian punches the air out of him "I- ever-do- to you?"
He stops and tilts his head as he speaks up in a steady, low voice "You torture my sister, now it's your turn"
He punches him on the nose, effectively breaking it, when a sound enters his ears. A ticking sound. Earlier, he had dismissed it as some animal, but now it felt odd. It isn't any bird or animal.
The sound seems to come from Carlos himself. Sebastian frowns. He reaches down and pulls at something beneath his shirt—a necklace. No, a bomb.
The timer flashes 4 seconds. Then 3.
His eyes widen. He throws Carlos's limp body away and sprints back.
He barely manages a few strides before the explosion tears through the air around him. Heat licks at his back as the shockwave that the deafening explosion made is sent racing. The force slams into him with an intensity that sends him flying into the air before hitting the gravel and dirt on the ground with full force.
He uses his arm to cushion his fall which grates against the gravel as he hits the ground. His men run towards his limp body, ignoring the burning cars.
"sir? can you hear us?" One of them asks as they turn him over.
He slowly opens his eyes and groans "hmm"
He tries to get up using the left arm to lean on. The arm buckles underneath him and his men support his back, helping him get up. One of the troop leader gets in the driver's seat of his car as they guide him towards the passenger seat.
He takes a hold of the door using his uninjured right hand to steady himself. The men make a circle around him, murmuring worriedly. Summoning all his strength, he finally addresses them.
"Back to the base, check your cameras for what kind of bomb that was" His voice is steady and clear as he speaks with a blank face before turning to the man in the driver seat "get out"
The man quickly scurries out of the seat as Sebastian walks over to the other side of the car. The men quickly get in their vehicles and he takes his seat and with an inaudible groan shuts the door.
He pulls out of the woods with his army behind him. His left bicep is throbbing and the blood has already soaked onto the seat. His vision is starts to get blurry as his destination becomes clearer in his mind.
He picks up his phone with his injured hand which almost makes him drop it and calls one of the troop leaders.
"yes sir" The voice from the other end fills the car.
"Head to the base" He says, putting all his strength in keeping his voice steady.
"yes sir" The voice affirms before ending the call.
All the cars take left turn on the next intersection, while Sebastian drives straight ahead. He pulls up into the parking lot of his hospital and sits there, trying to steady the swaying of he world around him.
He doesn't want to go in there. But passing out before reaching home is dangerous and even he reached home, mom would probably lose her mind. He wanted to avoid her wrath.
And with that thought to fuel him, he got out of his car and tried his best to walk in a somewhat straight line to the glass doors of the hospital. The automatic doors opened to allow him in and he noticed the look of horror on the receptionist's face as he looked up from his computer.
Before waiting for Sebastian to reach him or say something, he immediately called Dr. Nakamura to the front. Dr. Nakamura rushed outside and led Sebastian through a hallway and into room muttering incoherently under his breath.
"what did you do?" He asks him, as he gestures Sebastian to sit.
"It was just a bomb" Sebastian says quietly.
Atleast Mr. Nakamura would still patch him up while telling him off, it was better than to face mom.
"Just a bomb?!" Mr. Nakamura asks, exasperated, as he turns to him with medical supplies in his hands.
"Can you take off shirt or do I need to cut it?" He asks, picking up the scissors.
Akira's pov
I and Leo exit the class and walk towards our lockers, weaving through tangles of students.
"I don't even know how he got this job" Leo resumes their conversation from earlier, referring to their history teacher.
"He had no idea what he was saying." I add, shrugging in disbelief that my voice failed to convey.
"yeah right, he-" He starts before being cut off by kai who runs up to us, panting.
"Guys! shit happened!" He says trying to get his breath back, and turns his phone for us to see.
It's a video with a message underneath saying 'figure out what kind of bomb this is'. Leo takes the phone and clicks on the video. It shows my old boss, being beaten by boss. What?
Before my brain could fully process that, boss starts running away from him. An explosion occurs where the old boss' unconscious body lay, yanking boss off his feet and sending him flying. The video cut as everybody frantically ran where boss lay in the gravel.
"is he hurt?" Leo asks quickly, worry creeping into his voice.
"they told me he's hurt but he won't answer his phone" Kai says, taking his phone and typing something quickly.
What just happened? Old boss..is..dead? No. No. That can't happen. Rage takes over me as I throw my books in my locker and take out my helmet and bike keys. He can't kill him. No.
Everything around me felt hazy and the voices muffled as I pushed people out of my way and walked to my bike. The trance was broken as a hand on my shoulder stopped me. I turned around to find that it was Kai's hand, beside whom stood Leo.
"where are you going?" He asks, concern lacing his voice.
I push his hand off my shoulder and ask with my old coldness "Where is he?"
"We don't know, he could be at home, the hospital or the base" Kai shrugs, his eyes scanning my face for something.
I turn around and put on my helmet, containing the surge of anger flowing through me. I don't look back to see if they still follow me as I get on my bike and fly down the highway.
He should be at the hospital. The explosion was enough to land him some injuries. I miss the turn to the base and instead head straight for the hospital.
How could he do that? They were allies. He betrayed?
I park my bike and stride towards the building. The receptionist looks at me gravely as I approach him.
"Good morning Ms.Volkov" He says formally.
Who? oh that's me-
"where's boss?" I ask, my voice steady.
"Room 139, he's still being treated-" He provides me the needed information and proceeds yap, so I turn and leave to find the said room.
Room 139- That's 132. I walk down few more rooms before finally coming to a stop before the room 139. I try to open to the door but it's locked. I take a step back and kick open the door.
The door bangs with the wall and in my view come the same doctor- Dr. Nakamura I think- and boss. Boss looks turns towards a door with a shocked expression which soon fades into his usual blank one.
Dr. Nakamura is saying something. But his voice a million miles away as I take in the battered form of boss. A hole in his arm is consistently leaking blood, his back is bloody too and the scars along with fresh wounds on his arms and back shine as the blood flows around them.
The words that I had prepared to hurl at him die in my throat at that moment. All my anger fades away into a deep pit in my stomach. My helmet hitting floor makes him and me break our eye contact. Dr. Nakamura's voice is suddenly very clear and authoritative.
"Ms.Volkov, kindly get out the room" His voice is carefully controlled.
I stare at him for a few moments before silently picking up my helmet and settling on a couch which Sebastian has his back to. He was about to speak up when Sebastian silences him and asks him to continue his work.
He resumes his work on his arm and removes two bloody stones from his arm. He's clearly uncomfortable with my presence, but still maintains his silence. A few times I hear him reprimand him under his breath.
The older scars on his back are similar to mine, I note. The doctor the dresses wound after thoroughly cleaning it and moves to his back. He stops him and says something that I can't hear. The doctor replies sternly but leaves, closing the door.
Sebastian turns to face me, clearing his throat.
"Hello" He says, trying not to wince as his back pulls on the wounds.
"Hello" I reply, my voice detached as ever.
He stares at me, trying not to let his weariness show. I finally ask what had been running in my head since I saw the video.
"Why?" My question echoes in the silent room.
He stares at me, tilting his head a little, before looking down at his hands and shaking his head. I hate this. I hate not having answers. I hate having the person who had been my boss for most of my life be betrayed and killed by someone who claims to be my brother.
"Why?!" I ask, my voice getting louder as the rage starts to slip from my holds.
He looks up, finally meeting me eyes. His eyes carry an emotion I can't name as he looks at me.
And then a in a low, almost pained- probably fom the injuries- voice, he speaks up "Why do you care?"
Am I not supposed to care about my old boss being betrayed and killed by him just because my loyalty is now pledged to him?
"He was my boss!" I shout, all control snapping.
He just stares at me, with those weird eyes. My anger soars even higher.
"He trained me! He made me! He gave me a life!" I say, my voice getting higher and louder.
"He tortured you and used you like a weapon" He states calmly.
"YOU BETRAYED HIM AND KILLED HIM" I accuse him.
"I did what had to be done" He replies, his voice steady and level.
I don't realise when my hand wraps around his throat as I hiss in a low, venomous voice
"you killed him"

Hey guys:)
Just completed writing this, I hope you like it.
I'll try to bring the next chapter as soon as possible.
Honestly, I could've made the chapter longer but then it would have probably been uploaded tomorrow instead of today.
What do you prefer - longer chapters with the frequency of uploads lessening or somewhat shorter chapters with better upload frequency?
