She doesn't realise when her hand wraps around his throat as she hisses in a low, venomous voice "you killed him"
Third person pov
Sebastian meets her glaring eyes with his blank ones. He doesn't make a move to fight back which only infuriates her. She wanted him to fight back. To be angry. To lose control. To become him.
The door clicks open revealing a team of doctors standing there. She backs off, picks up her helmet and pushes past them. In the hallway, she notices Leo, Kai , Eiran and Diana walking over to the room she had exited.
They say something to her, but all other sounds were muffled against the frantic beating of her heart. Her fury only swelled at seeing them. This family betrayed him. She strides past them and out of the building.
---
The team of doctors patched up his back and arms. Now they were gone and outside stood his family. Only a door protected his horrors from coming true. He needs a shirt. Dr. Nakamura understood, he knew some of this. He got him a long sleeved shirt.
Doctor sat in front of him in grave silence as he put on the shirt and struggled to button it up. He wanted to help, but he never let him. The scars on his arms were as prominent as ever. The cuts had to be bandaged too.
"Why do you this to yourself?" He asked the question that he had asked him for all these years but now he had something to add "you have Iris now, with you, safe and sound."
Sebastian ignored him, as he ignored the pain, as he ignored his family's calls. He buttoned the cuffs using all his strength to not groan from the pain. At last, he looked up.
His eyes contained nothing as he spoke up "send them"
The doctor got up through a sigh and opened the door. Worried faces entered and formed a circle around Sebastian.
"Why wasn't I informed? What if you had gotten hurt worse?" Diana spoke up her concerns sharply.
"I'm okay mom" He tries to keep the weariness from his voice.
"What kind of bomb was that?" He turns to question Kai.
"I-I don't know" He says shaking head and then through a change in tone "you need to take care of yourself before that"
"What was up with Akira?" Eiran asks him.
"Want me to get her? She's probably not gone far-" Leo offers.
"No" Sebastian says firmly.
Diana starts telling him off and is finally cut off by Kai "the bomb looks like an upgraded version of a very old local Russian explosive"
"send me all the info-" He is cut off by the ringing of his phone.
"yes?" He answers the call.
"Boss we've found something you might like" The voice from the other end speaks up.
"I'm coming" He says, standing up.
"go home" He tells everyone and then turns to Eiran "I want intel on all of Carlos' allies in Russia and all of their transactions."
Eiran nods seriously, opening his phone "got it"
Outside the building, Sebastian starts his car as Eiran pulls his out. Diana walks over and taps on his window. He lowers the window and she leans in. She holds up a pen drive. The same pen drive. It has all of Akira's past data in in it.
A look of horror passes on his face for a brief second before he covers it up again.
"Ты правильно поступил, сын." She says, warmth lacing her voice. (You did the right thing, son)
He nods, looking down.
"Она злая?" She asks. (She's angry?)
"Да" He says quietly, looking up at her. (Yes)
"Она скорбит, оставьте её в покое." She directs him softly. (She's grieving, give her some space.)
He nods, unable to meet her loving gaze.
She turns and walks back to her car. He pulls out of the parking, his mind wondering. Why did she love him? He never did anything for her to love him. In fact, she should hate him. Like he does. He ruined their happiness. Akira and dad, all because of him.
Time skip
Diana checks the time once again. 10 : 18 pm. The numbers stare back at her as her anxiety increases with each passing minute. Akira has still not come home.
She places a call.
"Yes ma'am?" The person on the other end asks.
"Trace a number" Her voice sounds as formal and commanding as ever.
Her location was found to be at a local underground fighting ring. She gets up, grabs her car keys and pulls out her car from the driveway. The drive there is fairly long.
She parks her car and enters the arena. It's an abandoned building, she notices. She walks inside, weaving through the crowd gathered around a ring. The crowd is hyped, shouting profanities and cheers.
She inches closer to the ring. In there she sees Akira fighting a man twice her size. The man gets angrier when he can't place a successful blow on her. She uses the recklessness that accompanies his anger to her advantage.
Diana can see how her punches are fueled with anger too. But not a single remove she makes is sloppy or reckless. The man stumbles, she pushes him down. She climbs atop him and punches his face till he's bloody and unconscious.
When she still doesn't stop, the umpire comes and pushes her off him. He lifts her arm to signal the winner of the fight and cheers erupt from the crowd, louder than ever.
She has a bloody nose, a split lip and a few bruises. Diana walks to the other end, where Akira gets down from the ring and sits down.
"You did well" She says softly as she sits down on the bench beside her.
Akira looks side ways to see who spoke. A glare is etched onto her usually blank features as she makes eye contact with Diana. Diana can feel the anger coursing through her, but maintains a soft smile on her face.
"Go away" Akira's voice is low, possibly tired, and threatening as she looks down her bloody hands.
A peice of Diana's heart breaks at her coldness, but she doesn't let that smile waiver. A growl of Akira's stomach brings out the protective mother in her.
"You're hungry" She states calmly "let's go home"
Akira stands, following Diana. And without a word, she starts going the other way. Diana turns to follow her but loses her in the crowd. She catches a glimpse of what looks like her hair and scurries in that direction.
She notices an empty parking lot with only a single bike parked. She knows that bike. She strides towards her to stop her from leaving.
"No stop!" She shouts as Akira backs her bike up.
Akira looks around to find her running towards her. The bike is switched on. She can run. She wants to. But a part of her, the one she doesn't understand, stops her. Diana comes to a stop beside her, concern plastered on her face.
"Come home Akira" She says through pants.
She stares at her, anger dissipated from the fights.
"I know you're angry and probably sad, but don't harm yourself like this" She says, her eyes searching for a hint of emotion in hers.
Her caring gaze aroused the feelings in her that she didn't want to feel. People betray. That is their nature. Don't get attached.
"go away" She speaks in a low, cold voice.
"you can be angry all you want but I won't let you go hungry and tired like this" Diana voice laced with determination which then softens "come on, Звезда" (star)
She puts a hand on her fore arm. Akira looks down at her hand and then up at her.
"come on" She whispers, tugging at her arm.
"The bike-" Akira points out.
"somebody will get it, come on Звезда" She encourages her, voice warm. (star)
Hesitantly, she turns the bike off. She could've driven off. Why she didn't? even she doesn't know. She gets off the bike and Diana leads her to her car. Silently, she gets in the car while she enters the Driver's seat.
Akira takes off her helmet and places it in her lap. Diana turns to look at her.
"Baby, you're hurt" her face contorts into a pained expression "let me take a look"
Akira stares at her blankly, not understanding what's wrong with her. She tenses up as Diana carefully touches her face where she was bleeding or bruised.
"I don't have the first aid kit here" She checks around the car, apologetically.
Her stomach growls again, making Diana back the car up. The rest of the car ride is silent as they both keep to themselves.
After about a twenty minute drive, she brings her to a run down restaurant. Akira slowly follows behind her. While eating, she explains how this was the place where she used to crash after her fights. Fights at the same ring.
After the dinner, she drove them home. Akira's brain felt like a tangled mess of a thousand emotions, all which she had successfully expressed as anger during the day. Now it was all bearing down upon her.
Diana went to Akira's room after they arrived to patch up the injuries. Akira saw how concerned she looked while she applied medicine on them. However, once she went away leaving her alone in her room, the thoughts came back.
She thought she had gotten used to the death of people. And she had. But Carlos was someone she never expected to die. At least she never expected him to die before her.
She had been his guard. She had been trained to protect him with her life if she had to. And now he was dead. Just like that.
Akira's pov
My body's achy after all I did today. It won't let me sleep. Along with my thoughts. I would rather be at the ring right now than this silent dark room. I need answers.
I need a solid, logical reason for what happened to him. I've studied the history of this mafia. They've never betrayed their allies, ever. So why would they stoop so low now?
It wasn't even an assassination, boss himself went for him. Which indicates it was something personal. I need answers. I turn in my bed to stare out of the window. It was half past one in the morning, last time I checked.
Determined, I get off the bed. He would answer me, if not as as a mafia member then as a family member. I would use my position to its full advantage.
I exit my room and walk towards his office. I'm met with silence when I knock on his office door. Opening the door, an empty office stares back at me. His room then. My nerves start to rise as the closer I get to his room.
These are the kind of places usual members aren't allowed at. I knock on his door, the sound reverberating around the empty hallway. I hear some shuffling inside before the door finally opens, spilling light into the dark hall.
"I'm alright mo-" He says wearily, pulling on a zip up hoodie "uh- hello"
"Hello" I answer, my voice carefully blank like my facial expression.
He scans my face and an expression, similar to Diana's when she saw me, flashes across his face and he asks "What happened? Are you alright?"
His concern catches me off guard. I had expected him to be furious or or show indifference after what I had done earlier during the day.
"I'm alright" I answer, trying to keep the indifference in my voice.
He steps back, inviting me in his room. I hesitantly enter. His room looks neat in a messy way. He has a laptop open on a desk which is full of scattered pages, a bed with slightly ruffled blanket and a pile of paintings in a corner.
I turn back to find him looking at me, his face holding an expression I can't decipher. He gestures to the bed.
"Sit" He says as he walks over to his chair.
I silently sit down on the corner of his bed. It's soft. It looks cozier than mine.
"Who did this?" His voice was level, but there was something more to it.
I sub consciously bring my hand up to my face to touch the bandages Diana had placed "This?"
He nods "yes"
"Doesn't matter" I shrug and then ask coldly ''Why did you kill him?"
He looks at me for a long while, I notice the medical dressing on his shoulder which probably covered his whole arm.
"He broke the law" He states, zipping up his hoodie even more after noticing me looking at it.
"What law?" I ask, thinking I'm finally getting answers.
"Our law" He answers, looking down at his hands.
"What did he do?" My irritation creeps into my voice.
He takes a deep breath and then looks up at me "He did bad things to good people"
This was personal. I saw the hatred in his eyes when he said that. But that isn't a good enough answer.
"What did he do?" I ask again, my patience wearing thin, too thin.
"Why do you care about him?" He tilts his head as he asks.
Breathe. Do not strike. He is your boss.
"Because he gave me this life" I try to keep the rage in control and my voice level.
"He made you a killer" He states bluntly and then adds rather softly "I know you still have nightmares"
I look at him, horrified. How does he know? And How much more does he know then?
"He gave me purpose" I glare, keeping my voice almost level "He gave me this way of life."
The words sounded hollow, even to me. But I had to defend him. I wouldn't have been who I am if not for him.
"He starved you, made you into a weapon, tortured you and used you for his own means" He states, hatred palpable in his voice and eyes.
I glare at him and shout "I am who I am because of him!"
He just looks at me, his eyes cast down and knuckles turning white with how tight his fists were. Before he even made a move to answer or reply, his phone rang.
"yes?" He answers the call and walks into the attached balcony.
I take a look around the room to calm myself down. A laptop. A painting of a person dying. I start naming things around me. A pen. A pen drive with my name. A What?
I get up pick up the red pen drive. It has 'Akira' written on it. I look around to see him busy on the phone still. I quickly plug it in the laptop and a folder opens. It has the my name.
I click it open. There are different folders. Videos, Pictures, and documents. I click on the first one, Videos. A list of videos pops up and I click on the first one.
"Fight! Fight!" Men who are making the video shout as two kids fight, blood pouring from the nose of one.
Me. It hits me like a truck driving into a wall at full speed. That's me.
I click on another video.
"Please, please save him" A young me begged passer bys to save my dog, rocky.
My throat felt like it was closing in on me. Another video.
"This is what happens when you forget your place" Carlos' voice reignited the memory burned into my mind.
The man's screams fill my mind. No. They are everywhere. No. I couldn't save him. NO.
The man was screaming. The blood poured out of the wound.
I can't breathe.
