Was it luck for Ding Chengjun, or something else?

Only half an hour had passed.

Pang Jun's figure emerged from the company.

"Mr. Ding, he's coming out!"

Upon seeing Pang Jun, the female secretary exclaimed in surprise.

"Don't rush. Do you believe that with his personality, the moment he sees us, he'll turn around and walk back inside? He'd totally do that!" Ding Chengjun replied.

The secretary hesitated, "Then...?"

"He looks like he's heading to get his car. Let's wait until he gets closer to approach him."

Sure enough, as Ding Chengjun expected, Pang Jun walked briskly towards his car.

As he stopped and opened the door, Ding Chengjun quickly got out of his own vehicle and jogged over.

"Old Pang!"

Just as Pang Jun pulled open his car door, a familiar voice rang out.

Pang Jun instinctively turned his head.

"Oh, damn!"

The moment he saw Ding Chengjun, Pang Jun couldn't help but curse.

"Old Pang, can we talk?" Ding Chengjun asked sincerely, his eyes filled with urgency.

Pang Jun glanced around and, realizing Ding Chengjun had blocked his way, decided not to avoid him.

While reaching into his car to grab some documents, Pang Jun replied indifferently, "What's there to talk about? And how shameless can you be? I blocked your number, and now you're waiting at my company's front door?"

"Old Pang, I know I wronged you last time, but can't you give me a chance to talk things over?" Ding Chengjun pleaded.

At that moment, Pang Jun pulled out his documents and slammed the car door shut.

With a calm expression, he said, "Let's not beat around the bush. You're here for the Wuxia Cream, aren't you?"

"Old Pang, come back to Yundai! Yundai isn't just our youth, it's our hard work. We built Yundai from nothing, from obscurity to becoming a leader in the mid-to-low-end market. Don't you feel even a little attached to it? Didn't you say Yundai was your home? Come back!"

Playing the emotional card right from the start, Ding Chengjun extended his hand towards Pang Jun, eyes full of hope.

"I did say Yundai was my home, but you were the one who kicked me out and left me with nothing, remember? As for Yundai being something we built together, let's be real—this 'kingdom' you're talking about, I never held a single share of it. And you still kicked me out. Is that really our kingdom? No, it's just yours," Pang Jun replied, his voice steady.

"Old Pang, let's not dwell on the past! If you come back, you'll immediately become the company's second-largest shareholder. If you want, you can even be Yundai's CEO. Deal?" Ding Chengjun pressed on, unsurprised.

"As long as I bring back the Wuxia Cream, right?" Pang Jun sneered.

"Do you really think the company you built with your own hands is worth less than a new startup and a new product? Becoming the second-largest shareholder—or even CEO—isn't better than what you have at Yiren Ruxue? Old Pang, I know you resent me, but I had no choice at the time!"

Before Ding Chengjun could finish, Pang Jun interrupted.

"Stop. First of all, I don't resent you. Really, not at all. If I hadn't left Yundai, I wouldn't have met President Ye. Second, your offer is pretty good. At Yiren Ruxue, I don't hold any shares. The VP title I have is just a nominal one. But do you think I'm the kind of person who's after money or titles?"

Pang Jun continued, "If I cared about money, I would've left Yundai long ago. You wouldn't have had the chance to kick me out. What I wanted was trust, and you never gave me that. Instead, you constantly guarded against me, afraid I'd outshine you. But President Ye gave me a level of trust I never imagined possible."

Once Pang Jun started, he couldn't stop.

"When everyone else thought I was a crazy lunatic, President Ye, someone I had never met before, sought me out at my lowest point. He believed in Wuxia Cream—oh no, it was called Wuheng Cream back then—and believed I could make it happen. Without hesitation, he transferred 30 million to fund the research. And all I asked for was 10 million, which you repeatedly rejected!"

Shaking his head bitterly, Pang Jun added, "They say a wise bird chooses the right tree to nest in. A capable minister serves the right leader. Ding Chengjun, are you the leader worth serving? Even if you made me the largest shareholder, I wouldn't betray President Ye or Yiren Ruxue. I wasn't that kind of person before, and I won't be in the future. Money? As long as I have enough to live, that's all I care about. I trust President Ye will make sure I'm well taken care of, and that's enough for me."

Pang Jun's non-materialistic attitude was nothing new.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have ended up with zero shares in Yundai.

If he had fought for it, Ding Chengjun would have had to give him something, no matter how unwilling he was.

But Pang Jun's laid-back attitude made Ding Chengjun take him for a fool, ultimately kicking him out once Yundai grew successful.

Yet fate had other plans. The emergence of Wuxia Cream caught everyone by surprise.

"Old Pang, do you really want to watch Yundai fall? You built it. Can you just let it disappear?" Ding Chengjun's breathing quickened.

"From the moment I left Yundai, nothing about it concerned me. Whether it survives or not isn't my problem. I now serve Yiren Ruxue. I care about their success, not Yundai's fate."

Pang Jun's unwavering stance left Ding Chengjun exasperated.

What kind of stubborn fool is this?!

In this day and age, who still sticks to outdated ideals like "serving the right leader"?

Ding Chengjun sighed.

"Old Pang, I'm begging you—give Yundai a chance. If you won't return, sell me the formula. Two hundred million. I'll find a way. Please!"

Just then, a Mercedes-Benz G-Class roared to a stop beside them.

The door opened, and Ye Chen stepped out.

"Old Pang, who's this?" Ye Chen asked with a smile.

"Yundai's CEO Ding Chengjun... the guy who kicked me out," Pang Jun said bluntly.

"Oh? What's this about?" Ye Chen chuckled.

"Nothing much. After blocking his number, he waited at my company to ask me to bring Wuxia Cream back to Yundai. I refused, so now he's offering two hundred million for the formula. You arrived just as he finished talking."

"Ah, very honest. Extremely frank," Ye Chen replied.
