Ye Chen's classmate, the CEO of Yi Ren Ru Xue's classmate – a woman!
The female secretary, who had just stopped in her tracks, turned around and said, "Ye's classmate? And a woman? Why is she looking for me? What does she want?"
Ding Chengjun was stunned, completely clueless.
"I don't know. I asked her, but she wouldn't say. Her intention is clear—she wants to speak with you personally. She also said you'll be very grateful for her visit," the secretary added.
Hearing this, Ding Chengjun dismissed further questions. "Bring her in. I'd like to see what she has to say."
"Alright, I'll bring her right away."
Within minutes, the secretary returned, leading Lin Mengxi, who exuded an air of arrogance.
The former high school goddess still wore flawless makeup, and her curvaceous figure could easily captivate any man. Despite the elegant makeup, there was an undeniable worldly charm about her, a touch of allure that made her more approachable than those cold, untouchable goddesses.
As soon as Lin Mengxi entered, Ding Chengjun was momentarily entranced.
Even though he was married, Ding rarely missed an opportunity to flirt. Compared to the women he had pursued before, Lin Mengxi was clearly in a league of her own.
"Mr. Ding," the secretary called softly, noticing the look in his eyes.
Lin Mengxi wasn't surprised but wore a faintly prideful expression. She relished this kind of attention.
Snapping out of it, Ding Chengjun cleared his throat awkwardly. "You're Ye's classmate? Here to talk to me?"
"Yes, Mr. Ding."
Lin Mengxi smiled seductively. "Won't you invite me to sit down?"
Enchantress... Ding Chengjun thought, hurriedly pointing to the sofa. "Oh, forgive me. Please, have a seat!"
After they settled in, Ding dismissed the secretary.
"What should I call you?" Ding asked politely.
"My name isn't important. I'm here to provide you with information," Lin Mengxi replied with a mysterious smile.
"Information?" Ding raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"Mr. Ding, I assume your company, CloudDai, and other skincare brands are struggling due to the overwhelming success of Wu Xia Cream. Sales are plummeting, and at this rate, your products might be forced out of the market entirely," Lin said with a smirk.
"And?" Ding's tone grew serious.
"I want to offer you some insight," Lin added.
"What kind of insight?"
Lin Mengxi leaned in slightly. "What if I told you the CEO of Yi Ren Ru Xue has some scandalous secrets? The kind that could shake the company?"
Ding froze.
"Ye Chen's scandals?"
"You're his classmate, and you want to share his secrets with me?" Ding frowned.
As tempting as Lin Mengxi was, Ding wasn't the type to let lust cloud his judgment.
"So, you're planning to sell me his dirt? Miss, I think you misunderstand. This isn't the entertainment industry, and he's no celebrity. Scandals won't destroy him or Yi Ren Ru Xue," Ding said calmly.
"Oh no, Mr. Ding. I'm not selling. I'm offering it for free," Lin replied.
"For free? Go on, then."
"A few months ago, Ye Chen was a gambling, alcoholic, abusive mess. He was arrested multiple times, had terrible credit, and owed money to everyone he knew. He even begged loan sharks on his knees, and once drank a full bottle of liquor for a bet," Lin recounted.
Ding listened, bewildered.
Is this fiction? he wondered.
"How could someone like that afford to acquire Le Zi or recruit Pang Jun? This doesn't add up."
"Believe it or not, it's true. You can check for yourself," Lin said confidently.
Ding fell silent.
"But even if this is true, so what? Business isn't like showbiz. Unless it's illegal, no amount of dirt will bring him down. Consumers might resist for a while, but Wu Xia Cream isn't something people will boycott. Look at major brands over the years—scandals haven't stopped them.
"You think exposing his past will bring Yi Ren Ru Xue down? You're too naive. The real problem isn't Ye Chen; it's Wu Xia Cream. That's the real threat to us all."
Ding felt like he was wasting his time.
Lin Mengxi was beautiful, but was she just a pretty face with no brains?
Could she really be that naive? Or was there more to her than met the eye?
