I took my soaked pet into the bathroom, slightly worried that being around others was too much for her at the moment. I would have to call into work and tell them I wouldn't be in today.
Closing the door with my tail, and sitting her down, I removed the rest of her clothes. She whimpered, but let out a happy squeak as I reached into the pile of towels in the warmer. I wrapped the cloth around her, smiling as it draped the floor. She was so tiny!
I grabbed the second, frowning slightly that I no longer have two, but I'd have to plan better knowing my pet liked water, and warm three before my soaks now.
I pattes myself dry, hanging the towel around my neck as I watched to make sure my pet dried herself properly. She did not.
Not moving at first, and then only pulling the towel over her head, leaving her face visible.
I clicked my teeth in slight annoyance, holding out another dress that she seemed to love. She chirped, and reached for it. I snatched it back, tugging the towel.
She frowned, not wanting to give up the warmth, but relented. I pulled it from her, running the cloth over her smooth skin. I stopped when I got to her sensitive spots, not wanting to cause her harm knowing it still hurts from something the vet had called a UTI. She seemed to understand, and finished drying.
I handed her the dress, laughing as she pulled it over her head, only to get stuck, one arm pinned inside, and her head not coming through. "How did you ever survive in the wild?"
Once Piper was dressed, I carried her to the kitchen, and put her into the chair again. She didn't seem too fond of it until I put a plate in front of her, and she knew she was getting fed.
The books had said she needed to eat a minimum of twice a day; although three times and at least one snack was recommended. And at least one meal should contain protein of some sort.
How could something so little eat so much?!
I reached into the cabinet, pulling out my favorite protein, and turning back to the table. She looked at the container eagerly, making grabby hands toward it with a few grunts. "You're acting like a hatchling, silly pet. Hold on Piper." I said, pulling out one, and setting it on the plate.
It took only a moment, the worm stretched itself out, longer than her arm, but as skinny as one of her digits. Even with her small mouth, she should have no problem eating it. "Eat," I ordered, giving the plate a little shake, knocking the worm off balance.
Her face went pale, eyes wide. Maybe it was too big for her? Should I cut it up?
The worm righted itself, crawling in a wide arch to turn around, and head for Piper. Her mouth dropped wide, and I wondered if she wanted to be fed?
As the worm crawled closer, front falling from the plate and onto the table portion she repeated the call from last night when she had really disliked the cloths. "No. No. No!"
But clothes and food were not the same. She needed to eat. I placed the worm back into the plate, but pushed the plate closer. "You need to eat, pet."
I had to grab my ear flaps and press them down firmly as the human made the sound I had only ever heard at her last owners. A sound of pure terror. She screamed, proving she did not want to be fed and wanted to part of eating this worm.
Sighing, I lifted the worm between two fingers, and took it away. "Ok, ok," I put it away, slamming the cabinet as I did. "It's gone."
She visibly relaxed, slumping down into the seat, hands on her face. She started to leak- cry was what the book had called it. She started to cry, and I released her, pulling her into my arms. She fidgeted, trying to get away, but I held her close. "I'm sorry." I said, even if she couldn't understand.
*Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed. Please, vote and comment. Any ideas about the plot would be appreciated.
It's been rough going for Piper and Blue. Maybe one day it will get better. Blue needs to read those human pet books, but do you think he ever will? I hope so, he really wants to be a good pet owner after all.*
