The room smelled of disinfectant, and there were several of the large beings like my rescuer, and several different smaller beings either on the floor or in laps. Most had leashes of some kind attached to them.
I turned my attention to the being that rescued me, he only had on a pair of shorts, so I knew that was were that delicious jerky was. I rummaged through pockets that my whole arm disappeared into, but never found any.
There was a hissing sound, their language , and I jerked away. The tone didn't sound mean, but after dealing with that female, it still scares me.
What scared me more was the yellow one that started yelling.
She seemed to be yelling at him, and she was carrying a human in her arms. This human looked happy, and clean. Poking my head out, I waved at him. Curious of another human, he waved back.
He looked between me, curled under the chair, and back at the yellow one. A frown formed over his face, "Don't yell." He whined.
My mouth fell open as she stopped, cooing at him, and even rubbing his stomach. He gave a contented sigh, while I tried to understand why he wasn't beaten for talking.
I didn't pay attention to what happened next, in too much shock.
- The exam table was huge, and metal, reminding me that even the pets in this world were big. I shivered slightly, still in my wet clothes, but hugging my knees helped a little.
He reached for my neck, and I tried to pull away, but he grabbed the tight material there and twisted it. It wasn't hard to forget the tight band the woman put on my neck.
He dropped the collar, his large head falling onto my shoulder. I stiffened, looking at him from the corner of my eye as I tried not to panic. He hadn't hurt me yet.
He said more words, one he repeated at least twice, and I tried to say it back. Maybe he would understand that I could talk like the Yellow one has understood the human she held? "Pi. Pipe. Piper."
He seemed happy, touching me gently behind the ear, and saying that word again. But when a new one came into the room, he frowned. I pressed my face into my knees, how could I convince them I could speak?
They talked a lot, but I was too upset to try and listen to the tones. That word was used again, and I jumped slightly, a clawed finger pressed my head up. Kind orange eyes looked at me, and softer words were spoken as he stroked behind my ear again, "Please, Blue, don't let them hurt me," I whispered. I didn't want to be touched, but he was being gentle after nearly a year of living with someone so mean.
"Ouch!" I turned around, eyes filling with tears as the green one who I thought was the vet pulled a needle from my rear. "No!" I panicked as I started to get sleepy, but Blue wrapped his arms around me to keep me still. "You're just as mean as that last one. Let me go!" I tried to fight it, but I fell asleep quickly.
