I didn't want to go back into the carrier now that I had clothes, I didn't like the tight space. But Blue offered me more Blueberries, and I was still sleepy.
I climbed into it with Blue's help. The blanket was so soft, almost fuzzy as I rubbed my face on it, and pulled it completely over my head. I fell asleep fast with the blanket, and the gentle rocking of the carrier on Blues hip.
~
My sleep was interrupted by a sudden bang, "Wha?" I yanked the cover down, but when it was an apologetic face looking into my carrier and not one of anger, I didn't get scared. I glared at him, before pulling the blanket back up, and trying to sleep. I was used to noise, so Blue clattering around didn't stop me from passing back out.
Silence woke me. There was no yanking of the bars, or yelling. I woke up peacefully for the first time in a while, without having the pee literally scared from me.
But, that need to go left me scrambling to get out of the soft carrier. It was hard to walk on, like a bed, but more lumpy with the blanket under foot, but the light of the door left open had me running toward it. And running around the room to try to find what I needed right now.
It seemed like a large living space, with a sofa and a few chairs, stairs at the very end that probably led to the room I needed. Or, maybe not. I never actually saw the room from my cage at the other's house. Maybe they didn't use one? It didn't matter, the first step was almost as tall as me. I couldn't climb it, and hold it at the same time.
I wandered away from the stairs, ending up in a kitchen, though it didn't look like one. The guess was made because Blue was busy with plates, piling them high with greens. Not knowing what to do, but afraid blue might react like the other if I went on the floor, I walked to him.
My stomach clenched at how tall he was, over double my height, but shorter than the one before. That helped a little. I touched the back of his calf, the skin was rough and hide like but not slimy like I'd always imagined.
A small whimper left me as he reached down and picked me up. I leaned back into him as he turned me to look outward. I didn't even try to listen to what he said as he started to move, trying to not have a full panic attack. I was so far off the ground, what if he dropped me!
My fear was gone in an instant as he slid me into a baby chair, and fastened straps around me chest and arms, keeping me in place. I felt more secure, but I also felt like a kid! Pulling at the straps, "Blue," I whined, "I'm not going to jump down from here." I'd definitely hurt myself if I tried. I crossed my arms, sighing as he chatted on.
My mood increased when he set down a plate of greens topped with meat. "Salad." My mouth watered, not remembering the last time I'd had a salad. I snatched up the fork, snorting a laugh as Blue tried to show me how to use one with his own larger fork. I knew how to use a fork, even if i hadn't had the chance as long as I'd been with that first creature. And even if it was slightly misshapen, a bit curved, and only having two prongs.
He gave me what I guessed was a surprised look.
Tucking into a plate that was much smaller than Blue's, but still too big for me to finish, I was happy. The salad was fresh, the meat was lightly seasoned, and everything hing was topped with a slightly tangy vinaigrette or some kind. It was almost perfect.
Too focused on proving I was capable, and not even looking at what was on the fork, I ended up with a mouth full of delicious salad; and something vile! The bean was slippery, but I pulled it out, and finished the bite.
I held it, unsure how to say I hated beans. But when I hated certain clothes, throwing them, and sticking out my tongue worked. I did the same now.
I didn't expect Blue to react so poorly, he yelled, and stood up too quickly. I flinched back in the seat, but I couldn't get free, instead I froze, fork held in shaking fingers.
Blue's yellow eyes got wide, the slitted pupils looking between me and the bean. He said something, words that I was beginning to understand to mean he was happy with me. His fingers scratched behind my ears, sharp nails gentle. It shocked me, the sudden shift in mood, but maybe he didn't mean to react badly? Was throwing food frowned on here?
His hand closed around mine, dwarfing it and I froze again, but there was more of that word, as he moved our hands. It wasn't hard to figure out that he wanted me to pick up a bean, and put it into his other hand. It was surprising, however, when he threw back his head, and tossed it into his mouth.
I couldn't help but laugh at the way he moved. He didn't eat like that before, so clearly he was trying to act silly. And it worked.
We made a game of it. Every few bites, I'd find a bean, call him, and he'd repeat the action. When all the beans were gone, I groaned, for once wishing I had more.
The game was over, and my belly full, I pushed away to food. It had been a distraction from a bigger problem. "Blue," I looked down, and then back at him, "I need to go."
He ignored me, finishing his food, and taking the dishes to be cleaned as I suffered. "Blue, please." I pressed my legs tight together. I was clean, and didn't want to do this, not again. I didn't want to be dirty like before. Imagines of that cage and being smeared in my own mess came back to me. "Blue, I can't hold it!" I felt tears on my cheeks.
