(POV Gi-hun)

The buzzing of Mi-na's phone broke the silence between us. We had taken the ferry back to a near island where the organs might have been traded to but the involved people had just told us that all organs were already sold. Now we were standing on the shore, both feeling devastated after our unsuccessful mission.

"Jun-ho?", Mi-na answered her phone and I could hear him talking to her when she suddenly gasped in terror: "What? I thought we had days left? ... No, we didn't get a liver ...Tell them to do their best, however much it may cost. We'll come immediately." She turned to me and I had a presentiment what was about to come. "Gi-hun... In-ho's heart rate dropped. The doctors think they're losing him. They're telling us to come back as fast as we can so we can say our goodbyes." The blood in my veins froze and I was unable to talk. After all we had been through I would be losing him again? We had already boarded the ship approaching the mainland when I realized that I was crying. Mi-na placed her tiny hand on my shoulder, in tears as well.

"I can't lose him", I sobbed, "he's everything to me." Mi-na nodded: "I know he's just my late sister's husband but I love him like he's really my brother. He's all family I have left."

"What about Jun-ho?", I asked.

"We're not really related, I think Jun-ho always saw an annoying teen in me, being almost five years younger than him. Min-jung and I had a huge age gap, we were 10 years apart. It's horrible that I'm losing them both for the same reason, because there are no organs."

"Don't say that.", I shushed her, "In-ho is not dead yet. He's the Frontman, he can't die just like that. He is strong. And I promised him I'll kill him if he dares to give up." I explained, halfway smiling and Mi-na let out a weak laugh: "In-ho always had his own mind, but he isn't near as stubborn as Min-jung was, so maybe we stand a chance. In fact I think I'll help you kill him if he dares to give up."

We arrived at the hospital more than half an hour later thanks to too fcking much traffic on the roads and as time was passing we started panicking more and more.

"HWANG! Hwang In-ho!", Mi-na almost yelled at the receptionist, "We're family, I'm his sister and that's his...boyfriend." His boyfriend? Even through my panic I weirdly liked the sound of that. The receptionist looked at her computer and gave us information:

"Hwang...yes, they were prepared for the transplant, the doctors are operating them now."

"They...they are what?", I gasped as the receptionist continued: "2nd floor, you should ask the nurses, I can't give you any further information."

Mi-na and I exchanged a look of shocked confusion and then rushed to the elevator. I was impatiently pressing all the buttons as Mi-na pulled me towards the stairs: "We'll take this way, this sh!tty elevator is taking too long." We ran up, taking always two steps at a time and arrived in the 2nd floor completely out of breath: "Hwang In-ho... and Hwang Jun-ho, where are they?"

A nurse came up to us, seeming a little confused by our panic. "Lee Mi-na and Seong Gi-hun? Mr Hwang Jun-ho made the doctors examine him and he was declared a suitable partial-liver-donor for Mr Hwang In-ho." The nurse's words sounded like an alarm in my head and I felt partly shocked, partly relieved as I asked: "So they are transplanting Jun-ho's liver to In-ho... but if they do that, Jun-ho is going to die!"

"No, he isn't", Mi-na said slowly, "If the donor is suitable then by doing a partial-liver-donation both can live." I looked at her in confusion and she pulled me into a waiting room, sitting down next to me.

"If a new liver is needed and you don't get a transplant fast enough there is the chance of a partial-liver-donation. It means one gives the other a part of his liver and both can survive. But the donor has to be a blood relative, then he mustn't consume much alcohol or medics, and last he must not have any previous illnesses. Jun-ho is In-ho's last blood relative since they don't share the same mother and their father is already dead – but since Jun-ho had a severe kidney-illness it wasn't certain if he was a suitable liver-donor. You know years ago In-ho saved his life by donating a kidney." Mi-na sighed, there seemed a heavy weight being on her shoulders."The partial-liver-donation is exactly what I couldn't do for my sister when she died, because we were both adopted with no blood relatives, so neither me nor our parents could help her."

I slowly nodded, I had had no idea about Mi-na's sad story. "But In-ho can be saved, okay? They both can survive and they will, I'm sure of it.", I said and hugged her. "I believe that love has the power to conquer it all. And this has to be it, In-ho will be saved by his brother's love. Sounds like a fairytale, right?" Mi-na sniffled and nodded: "Thank you, Gi-hun. You are really the best thing that could've happened to my brother."

I had no idea how long we were sitting there, comforting each other, as suddenly the nurse came back: "Mr Seong, Miss Lee, I have good news for you: Mr Hwang Jun-ho just woke up, you can see him now. For Mr Hwang In-ho... he's stable, but now it's all depending on him: if he wakes up, then he will live."
