Chapter 31

The next morning, Nani was still stuck in the hospital, much to his frustration. The doctors insisted he stay at least another night for observation, but he was already itching to get out.

Lying in bed with an IV attached to his arm, Nani sighed as he looked at Win, who was lounging on the couch in his hospital room. Win had been there since morning, lazily scrolling through his phone like he had all the time in the world.

"Win." Nani called, his voice low but firm.

Win looked up. "Hmm?"

"I need you to send two of our men to Italy."

Win blinked. "Italy?" He sat up straighter, frowning. "Why? Don't tell me you're still thinking about work when you can barely move without wincing?"

"This isn't about work." Nani said, his expression serious. "It's about Sky."

At the mention of Sky's name, Win's playful demeanor vanished. "What about him?"

Nani's fingers tapped lightly against the blanket. "Whoever came after me might not stop here. And Sky... he's too exposed. If they find out he's important to me, they might try to use him against me."

Win leaned back, running a hand through his hair. "Damn. You really think they'd go that far?"

"I can't take the risk." Nani said firmly. "That's why I want two of our men stationed in Italy, keeping an eye on him. But they need to stay in the shadows. I don't want Sky knowing anything."

Win let out a low whistle. "Hiding bodyguards from Sky? That's not gonna be easy. your kid has instincts like a damn cat, he'll notice something off."

"Then pick the best." Nani said simply. "Make sure they know how to blend in. I just need them there as an extra layer of security, nothing more."

Win studied him for a long moment before nodding. "Alright, I'll take care of it.

Nani looked away, staring at the IV drip beside him. Win pulled out his phone and started making arrangements.

As Win made the call, Nani leaned back against the pillows, his mind already racing with his next move. He could handle being attacked, but he wouldn't let Sky get dragged into this mess.

No matter what, Sky had to stay safe.

--

Perth sat in his grand study, the dim glow of the chandelier casting long shadows across the room. A glass of whiskey rested on the polished oak desk in front of him, untouched. He wasn't in the mood for drinking, not when his mind was occupied with something far more pressing.

A sharp knock echoed through the room before the heavy doors creaked open. One of his men stepped inside, bowing his head slightly before speaking.

"We did as you ordered, sir," the man reported, his voice steady but cautious. "Nani fought back harder than we expected, but we managed to rough him up. He lost consciousness before security arrived."

Perth exhaled through his nose, fingers tapping against the glass. "And?"

"The company's staff got to him in time. He was taken to the hospital."

Perth's jaw tightened. "So, you're telling me he's still breathing?"

The man flinched slightly. "Yes, sir. But he won't be walking away from this without consequences."

Perth leaned back in his chair, tilting his head. His expression was unreadable, but the tension in the room thickened. After a long silence, he smirked, though there was no warmth behind it.

"Nani's tougher than most, I'll give him that," he murmured, swirling the whiskey in his glass. "But even he has limits."

His gaze darkened as he leaned forward, his voice lowering to something almost dangerous.

"And what about him?" Perth asked, his tone sharper now. "Did he hear about what happened?"

The man hesitated before shaking his head. "There's no sign that he knows yet. Nani's people are keeping it quiet."

Perth let out a quiet chuckle, but there was no amusement in it. "Of course, he would. Nani always did have a habit of protecting what's his."

His grip tightened around the glass as an unsettling realization settled in his chest. But for how long?

He dismissed his man with a wave of his hand, leaning back against the leather chair as the door clicked shut behind him. The silence of the mansion felt heavier than usual.

Perth wasn't the type to lose. He always got what he wanted.

And this time would be no different.
