Sky stood at the entrance of the airport, his mind buzzing with excitement and relief. It had been weeks of stressful studying, long hours, and anxiety about his final results, but everything had finished earlier than expected.
The exams were over, and now all he had to do was wait for the results to be posted online. The graduation ceremony would be soon, but the school had yet to announce an official date, and with everyone being allowed a break, Sky couldn't wait to go back to Nani.
He couldn't help the smile on his face as he hopped into a taxi, already envisioning how he'd surprise Nani. It had been too long since they last saw each other, and the thought of finally being back in Nani's arms made Sky's heart race. He had his key card to Nani's apartment, it felt like home to him.
The taxi ride felt short, even though it was a little over an hour. Once he arrived, he paid the driver and rushed up. With a mix of nervous energy and excitement, Sky unlocked the door, entering quietly, wanting to surprise Nani.
But as soon as he stepped inside, he froze.
someone standing by the living room window, their back to him. The figure had their hair wrapped in a towel, and their body was only covered by a towel around their waist. A loud of music played in the background.
For a moment, Sky's heart skipped a beat. What... what is going on here?
His eyes locked on the figure's back, tall, lean, and unfamiliar. Who is this?
Sky's breath caught in his throat as his mind scrambled for answers. Why is someone here, and why are they... like that? His mind raced with a dozen thoughts at once, each one more confusing than the last.
Sky's heart sank, and an uncomfortable heat spread across his chest. His mind was in a mess of emotions, confusion, jealousy, and disbelief.
Without a word, Sky slowly backed away, his hand trembling slightly as he reached for the door. He couldn't shake the image of someone standing there in nothing but a towel, his back turned to Sky, unaware of his presence.
Sky walked out of Nani's condo in, his heart still racing from the scene he had just witnessed. He had no idea what to think, his emotions in complete chaos.
It was all too much for Sky to process in that moment. So, without another thought, he hailed a taxi, telling the driver to take him to his father's restaurant.
As the taxi pulled up to the restaurant, Sky barely registered the familiar surroundings. He stepped out, his eyes still unfocused, and made his way to the door.
The moment he stepped inside, the staff who were prepping for the evening crowd paused, their faces lighting up in surprise at the sight of him. It had been a while since Sky had come by, so his sudden appearance caught everyone off guard.
"Sky!" His mom, who was standing near the kitchen, looked up in shock.
Sky didn't answer. His chest tightened, the weight of everything pressing down on him. He couldn't shake the image of that stranger, couldn't shake the overwhelming feeling that maybe he wasn't the one Nani wanted.
Without thinking, Sky rushed to his mother, tears welling up in his eyes. He threw his arms around her, burying his face in her shoulder. "Mom..." His voice cracked as the tears began to spill, his emotions spilling over like a dam.
But Sky wasn't crying because he missed home, or because he was overwhelmed with emotions from school or graduation. it was because he felt betrayed. He felt like everything he had with Nani was slipping through his fingers.
"Aww, Sky, you're back, and you're crying! Missing home already?" his brother teased.
His brother laughed at him playfully, but Sky couldn't bring himself to laugh back. He just buried his face deeper into his mom's shoulder, desperately trying to make sense of the turmoil inside.
"Poor baby, missed home so much," Sky's sister-in-law said, patting his head gently as she passed by with a warm smile, unaware of what was really happening.
Sky's mom held him tightly, rocking him gently side to side as if he were a little boy again. Her voice was soft and comforting, but Sky couldn't bring himself to calm down. The thought of Nani with someone else was too much to bear.
After a long moment, his mother gently pulled away, looking at him. Sky walked over to his father. Without a word, Sky wrapped his arms around his father and held on tight, his tears soaking into his shirt.
Everyone in the restaurant looked at the family with warm smiles, thinking Sky was simply missing home and being overwhelmed by his graduation. They chuckled and exchanged amused glances, but none of them knew the real reason for his tears.
Sky's father patted his back and smiled softly. "There, there, Sky. You're home now."
And in that moment, Sky wished he could go back in time and erase the image of Nani with someone else. But as much as he wanted to believe it wasn't true, a part of him feared the worst.
The restaurant staff continued to chuckle, unaware of the storm brewing inside Sky.
--
The past two days had been tough for Nani. Sky hadn't answered his calls, no matter how many times he tried. It made him feel anxious, like something was wrong. Sky was always good about staying in touch, so this sudden silence felt strange. Nani could feel it in his gut, something was wrong, and it was eating him up inside.
Then, out of nowhere, Win burst into Nani's office, his expression urgent. "Nani, I just saw Sky. He's at his father's restaurant." Win said, out of breath from his rush.
Nani's heart skipped a beat. "Sky? What do you mean? Why is he there?"
Win shrugged. "I don't know, but he's back, and he hasn't told anyone. He seemed... off. I tried talking to him, but he just kept quiet."
Without a second thought, Nani stood up, his worry turning into action.
Nani gave orders for his men to return since last week, as Perth stay quiet and Nani doesn't want Sky might be catching onto the fact that he had people watching over him.
When Nani arrived at the restaurant, everything seemed normal. Sky's family welcomed him warmly, as they always did when he visited. Nani had spent countless evenings here, especially when Sky had been in Italy. But now, everything felt different. His gut churned, and his heart was heavy with a sense of foreboding.
"Sky's in the kitchen," his brother said casually, not sensing the tension in Nani's eyes since they all assumed that Nani already knew that Sky was back.
Nani nodded and walked toward the kitchen. When he pushed the door open, he was greeted by Sky's father, who was busy cooking.
" Nani! Good to see you! Sky just ran off to the back."
Nani's chest tightened. "The back?" he asked, his voice tight.
Sky's father pointed to a door leading to the back of the restaurant. "He went that way."
Without a second thought, Nani rushed down the corridor, each step heavier than the last. His heart hammered in his chest, a mixture of confusion and fear flooding his mind. What was going on in his head? Nani couldn't understand why Sky was pushing him away.
When Nani reached the back of the restaurant, he found Sky standing there, his back stiff and his eyes cold. There was no way out, except the way Nani had just come in.
"Sky..." Nani's voice was soft, but his eyes were desperate. "What's going on? Why didn't you come to me when you got back?"
Sky's gaze hardened, and the frustration that had been building inside him finally spilled out. The way he looked at Nani made Nani's chest tighten. Nani stepped closer want pull SKy into his arms, to hold him.
Sky lifted his hand and waved it, stopping Nani from getting any closer. "Don't touch me." Nani froze. The words cut through him like a knife
"Sky" Nani whispered, his voice trembling with concern. "What's going on? "
Sky didn't answer right away. He just stood there, his eyes filled with unshed tears that were threatening to spill over. The silence stretched on, thick and suffocating. Then, Sky finally spoke, his voice cracked with emotion, "What did I do wrong? You're with someone else. Am I not enough?"
Nani's breath caught in his throat. "Sky, what are you talking about?" he asked, his mind racing to understand.
Sky's tear-filled eyes met Nani's as he whispered, "You brought someone to your place." The tears began to fall down his face, and Nani's heart shattered.
Nani's brow furrowed, confused, until the realization hit him like a wave. Chimon. He had let Chimon stay at his place.
"Sky... did you go to the condo when you got back?" Nani asked.
"Yeah," Sky replied bitterly. "And why? Do you think you can hide this from me forever?" The thought of Sky feeling like this, so betrayed and lost, made Nani's stomach twist.
Sky's hand suddenly clenched into a fist, and with a pained expression, he reached for the ring on his finger. In one swift motion, he ripped it off and threw it at Nani.
Nani's heart sank as the ring landed at his feet. He stared at it for a moment, speechless. but before he could say anything, Sky turned away.
"Sky, wait"
But Sky didn't listen. He didn't even look back as he ran past Nani, his steps quick and erratic. Nani rushed after him, calling his name, but Sky was already locking himself in his room. The sound of the door slamming shut echoed in Nani's ears.
Nani stood there for a moment, his heart aching. Sky's sobs from behind the door tore at Nani's heart, and he refused to leave. He pulled out his phone and immediately called Dew. "Get Chimon here now" he said urgently
Nani hung up the phone, not caring about anything else. His only focus now was making things right with Sky. He couldn't let him think that he didn't love him because he did, more than anything.
