Chapter 42

Two months had passed, and Nani's mental health had improved significantly since his father's passing. Life was slowly settling back into place, and with their wedding approaching, things had become busier than ever.

Sky had officially started working at Nani's uncle's company, and today, he had the afternoon off for an important appointment, picking out wedding attire. Prim had arranged everything with a high-end clothing brand, ensuring they had the best selection for their big day.

However, there was one ongoing issue that drove Prim absolutely insane: Nani refused to make any decisions.

Whether it was the color scheme, the flowers, or even the ceremony plan, Nani left everything in Sky's hands. If Sky didn't want something, Nani wouldn't even consider it. While this might have seemed romantic but to Prim, it was pure chaos.

Prim sighed dramatically as she watched Nani once again push the decision onto Sky. "Seriously, P'Nani? You're not going to choose anything?"

Nani leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. "Why should I? As long as Sky's happy, I'm happy."

Sky, who was currently flipping through fabric samples, glanced up and pouted. "But it's our wedding. Shouldn't you at least care about something?"

"I do care." Nani said smoothly. "I care about you. And since you're the one marrying me, you should get whatever you want."

"You're impossible! You're supposed to be the groom, not just Sky's personal fanboy."

Sky giggled but turned to Nani with a playful glare. "Fine. If I have all the power, then I'm choosing pink suits for you."

Nani's smile disappeared. "...Wait."

Before Nani could protest further, his mother arrived, her arms full of brand-new clothes. She looked positively delighted, moving with the energy of someone preparing for the biggest event.

Prim immediately walked over, peeking into the bags before dramatically pressing a hand to her forehead. "Mom, you bought too much! What about the clothes we already picked from the shop?"

Nani's mother waved a dismissive hand. "Oh, those are just options. These are backup outfits."

Prim looked like she might collapse on the spot.

Meanwhile, Nani's mother strolled over to Sky, gently cupping his cheeks with both hands, her eyes twinkling with warmth. "How are you feeling, my dear? Your wedding day is almost here."

Sky, cheeks slightly squished between her palms, beamed. "Excited but a little nervous."

Prim sighed, placing her hands on her hips. "Mom, you should be asking me how I feel. I'm the one suffering here! These two are too busy flirting to make any real decisions!"

Nani glanced at Sky and smirked. "Well, that's because we already made the most important decision, Prim."

Sky turned to Nani, their eyes meeting for a long moment before he nodded.

Prim groaned. "Oh my god, I can't deal with you two."

Nani's mother simply laughed, patting Sky's cheek one more time before turning to sort through her ever-growing collection of wedding outfits.

Sky arrived home a little later than usual, rubbing the back of his neck as he stepped inside. The house was eerily dark, and for a moment, he wondered if everyone had already gone to bed.

Frowning, he reached for the light switch and

"SURPRISE!"

Sky nearly jumped out of his skin as the entire room erupted with cheers. His family stood in the living room, beaming at him with wide smiles. The space was decorated with soft, twinkling lights .

His mother was the first to pull him into a tight hug, laughing warmly. "My baby is getting married!" she said, squeezing him like she never wanted to let go.

Sky let out a small laugh, his heart swelling. "Mom! You scared me!"

His older brother clapped him on the back. "You better be prepared. Marriage is a battlefield."

His sister in law rolled her eyes and smacked his arm. "Ignore him, Sky. Marriage is beautiful if you learn how to listen to your spouse."

His father stepped forward with a proud nod. "Marriage isn't just about love. It's about patience, compromise, and respect. But knowing you and Nani, I believe you'll take good care of each other."

His mother wiped away a happy tear before grinning mischievously. "Just don't forget who loved you first, hmm?"

Sky laughed, shaking his head. "I could never forget, Mom."

The teasing continued as everyone showered him with advice some heartfelt, some utterly ridiculous. His grandmother even pulled him aside and whispered "Just remember, if you ever fight, let Nani win. It'll save you a headache."

Sky chuckled, feeling an overwhelming warmth in his chest. He had always known he was loved, but in this moment, surrounded by his family's joy and support, he felt it more than ever.

And he knew, without a doubt, he was ready for this next chapter with Nani.

After the party was over and everyone had gone to bed, Sky finally let his body drop onto the mattress, exhaustion settling into his bones. But as he stared at the ceiling, a thought tugged at his mind, refusing to let him sleep.

Turning to his bedside table, he pulled open the drawer and retrieved a slightly worn journal, the one he had kept since high school. His fingers traced the edges of the cover before flipping it open, and there, tucked between the pages, was an old class photo.

His eyes softened as he gazed at it. In the picture, he stood just behind Nani, slightly out of focus. Nani, on the other hand, looked effortlessly cool, his posture relaxed, his uniform crisp, a natural presence that had unknowingly drawn Sky's attention even back then.

Sky let out a quiet chuckle, shaking his head. You had no idea, did you?

Back in high school, Nani had been like an idol in Sky's eyes, someone who carried himself with such confidence that it was almost intimidating. Sky had admired him from a distance, too shy to ever strike up a conversation.

And then, the day he found out that Nani was transferring to another school... Sky had come home and cried his heart out. His parents had asked him what was wrong, but he had just shaken his head, unable to put his feelings into words.

It had felt like losing something he never even had a chance to hold.

So when fate had brought them back together years later, it had felt like winning the lottery. like getting a second chance at something he once thought was gone forever.

Sky let out a quiet breath, his heart swelling with warmth as he traced a finger over the old class photo one last time.

Then, he flipped to the very last page of his journal.

With a small smile tugging at his lips, he picked up a pen and, in neat, slightly shaky handwriting, wrote:

"Dear Diary, I am getting married to him."

Sky stared at the words for a moment, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. If only the boy who had cried over Nani's transfer back then could see this now.

He closed the journal, pressing it gently against his chest before setting it aside. Then, with a heart full of quiet joy, he turned off the light and let himself fall into a peaceful sleep.
