Chapter 47
A few weeks had passed, and Nani could already feel the subtle changes in his body. His clothes felt tighter, a small reminder of the little one growing inside him.
He had started opting for looser, more comfortable suits to avoid drawing too much attention. He didn't mind the change, it was a beautiful reminder of the life he and Sky were bringing into the world but the need for discretion was something he couldn't escape, especially tonight.
Tonight was one of those business parties. The kind that everyone knew wasn't just about mingling over drinks and making polite conversation. It was a well-guarded tradition, a business deal wrapped in the form of a social gathering.
Sky, as always, was reluctant. He sat on the couch, eyes heavy with concern, watching Nani as he adjusted his suit. "I don't want you to go" Sky murmured, his voice thick with unease.
Nani paused in front of the mirror, giving Sky a soft smile. "I have to go, Sky. It's part of the deal. You know that." He walked over to Sky and stand in front of him "But I'll be back before you know it. We'll be fine."
Sky frowned but didn't say anything more, his grip tightening briefly around Nani's wrist before releasing him. "Just... please be careful. I don't like it when you go to those things, especially now. I don't want anything happening to you or..." Sky's voice trailed off, and Nani could feel the weight of his unspoken worry.
Nani leaned down, pressing a kiss to Sky's forehead. "I'll be back in one piece. I promise."
The sound of footsteps reached them from downstairs, and Nani turned to see Dew and Win waiting for him at the door.
Win flashed them a mischievous grin as he looked at Sky's sad face, clearly aware of the tension in the room. "Don't worry, Sky." he teased "We'll take care of Nani and our little nephew. He's in good hands."
Dew smiled softly and added "It's just a business party, Sky. We've got this. You know we won't let anything happen to him."
Sky gave a small sigh but knew he had no choice. He couldn't keep Nani from going. "Alright, alright. keep an eye on him, okay?" Sky's voice was a bit more resigned, though his concern never wavered.
--
At the party, the atmosphere was thick with tension, a mix of business and competition hanging in the air. Nani's mind was set on one thing: the deal.
He had been eyeing the company selling its shares for months, knowing that securing them would give his company a major boost. Every instinct told him tonight was his night, and he was ready to make his move.
But as he scanned the room, his focus shifted. Another man was eyeing the same deal, and it was clear the competition was fierce. Their eyes met across the crowded room, and Nani felt a ripple of unease. This wasn't just another business deal—this was personal.
The debate began with sharp words and tense exchanges. Both men tried to outmaneuver each other, throwing around their tactics, trying to persuade the decision-makers to back their offer.
Nani didn't earn his place in the business industry by chance; he had fought his way to the top, respected and feared by many in the field for his ruthless strategy and unwavering drive. tonight was no different.
While the other man tried to dazzle with empty promises and flashy numbers, Nani took a different approach. He stayed calm, focused, and unwavering. With a steady voice, he simply pointed out the one thing that mattered most—the results.
"Our company has seen a 30% increase in growth over the past two years," Nani said, his eyes meeting the decision-makers' with quiet confidence. "No one else can say the same. Actions speak louder than words. Numbers don't lie."
He didn't need to say more. The data was right there, the evidence of his hard work and strategic decisions clear as day.
The other man tried to recover, throwing out counterarguments, but it was too late. Nani's track record spoke for itself.
The decision-makers were already nodding, impressed by Nani's calm demeanor and the undeniable truth in his words. The deal was practically in the bag.
As the tension lifted from the room, Nani couldn't help but feel a small rush of pride. This was his world, and he knew exactly how to play the game.
When the meeting ended and Nani walked out of the room, his eyes darkened briefly, a wave of exhaustion and relief washing over him.
Dew, noticing the shift, stepped forward, concern immediately etched on his face. "Nani, are you alright?"
Nani didn't answer right away. Instead, he exhaled slowly, trying to steady himself. "Yeah" he muttered, but the exhaustion in his voice was undeniable. "Just... a bit tried."
Win, catching the exchange, didn't waste any time. He stepped forward, his usual teasing demeanor gone. "We're getting you out of here, Nani. Let's get you checked out. You've been working yourself too hard."
Nani shook his head, trying to brush it off. "I'm fine."
But Dew and Win weren't buying it. They exchanged a quick glance before making the decision for him. Nani's health was more important than any deal. "Hospital" Dew said firmly, without question.
At the hospital, Nani still resisted. "I don't want Sky to worry" he said quietly as they entered the building. "don't tell him."
Win raised an eyebrow, but he didn't argue. "Fine." he said, though there was a trace of worry in his voice. "But you're getting checked out, Nani."
Inside the doctor's office, after a series of tests, the doctor's words hit Nani like a ton of bricks. "You're carrying twins" the doctor said gently, but there was no mistaking the gravity in his tone.
"It's why you've been feeling weaker than usual. Both you and the babies are fragile right now. You need to avoid stress and take plenty of rest for the sake of your health and the babies' health."
Nani's eyes widened in disbelief. twins? His heart thudded with a mixture of shock and excitement.
Dew smiled with genuine happiness, clearly relieved by the news, but Win's reaction was... a bit over the top, as usual.
He practically jumped out of his seat, his eyes wide with astonishment. "Twins?! Nani, you're going to be a dad of TWO?!"
Nani couldn't help but chuckle at Win's dramatic response.
"My god, my nephew and niece are on their way." Win said, shaking his head in disbelief, though the joy was evident in his smile.
Dew couldn't help but also laugh at Win's reaction. "Take it easy, Win. Nani's still processing the news" he teased.
The doctor, having observed the excitement in the room, smiled warmly. "Congratulations, It's wonderful news. Twins are a blessing." He handed Nani a prescription for some medication to help with the strain on his body, making sure he had everything he needed.
"Take these as directed. They'll help ease some of the discomfort you may feel. And I strongly advise you to take it easy, rest as much as you can." Nani nodded.
"And remember" the doctor continued "you should come in for another check-up next week. We'll make sure everything is progressing well. Don't hesitate to reach out if anything feels off."
Win, who had been bouncing around with excitemen said. "Alright, Nani. Time to listen to the doctor. You need to rest. I'll make sure Dew and I take care of everything. You don't have to lift a finger."
Nani gave him a skeptical look. And Win grinned back, practically bouncing on his feet. "I will. But once the babies are born and you're back to your normal routine, don't expect me to be this helpful. I'll go back to being lazy, just like always."
Dew couldn't help but snicker at Win's antics. "Sure, Win, like you ever do any real work." he teased, shaking his head with a smile.
With a soft chuckle, Win clapped Nani on the shoulder, grinning ear to ear. "I know you don't believe me, but wait and see. And stay healthy, my soon-to-be overworked dad of my nephew and niece."
Nani leaned back, his hand resting lightly on his stomach as he tried to keep a straight face. "I'm starting to think the babies might get annoyed by you more than I am, already."
Win's eyes widened in mock horror. "Me? Annoying? Never!" He clutched his chest dramatically, feigning offense. "How could you say such a thing, Nani? I'm the angel of support and laughter around here!"
Dew snorted, clearly enjoying the exchange. "Yeah, and the angel of chaos too."
