Chapter 51

Niran and Suwan had reached that adorable stage where they could walk, wobbly little steps that always made everyone smile. Dew and Win had practically made their way to Nani and Sky's house every day, excited to spend time with the twins. In fact, Sky, had given them both keys to the house, knowing they'd be there so often.

One sunny afternoon, as Niran stood holding onto the couch, trying to balance on his tiny feet, he looked up at Sky, his mouth curving into a smile before he spoke his first word.

"Daddy" Niran said, his voice small but clear.

Sky's heart swelled in that moment, and of course, his eyes welled up with tears. "Did he just say...?" he whispered to Nani, unable to hold back his emotion.

Nani chuckled, wrapping an arm around him. "Yes, Sky. He did. You're a daddy now." he teased, watching Sky wipe away a happy tear.

But just when the moment of joy couldn't get any sweeter, Suwan, who was trying to mimic Niran, turned her gaze toward Dew and grinned.

"Dew....dew" she said, her voice a little sing-song, as she reached her arms out toward Dew.

Dew's face went pale for a second, then broke into the biggest smile. His heart nearly stopped, overwhelmed with the sweetness. "She said my name! She said my name!" Dew squealed, bouncing on his feet in pure excitement.

Win, who had been waiting expectantly for his turn to be called, pouted dramatically. "Unfair!" he complained, crossing his arms. "I've been here way more than Dew and Niran says 'Daddy,' and Suwan says 'Dewdew' first?!"

Sky and Nani burst into laughter at Win's childish antics, while Dew continued to bask in the glory of being the first person to be called by Suwan.

"You just have to wait for your turn, Win." Nani teased, giving him a playful nudge.

Win pouted dramatically. "Niran, buddy, say 'Uncle Win' for uncle."

But Niran only tilted his head before grinning mischievously. "Daddy!"

Win looked completely betrayed. "Niran, we need to talk about your priorities."

As Niran and Suwan grew quickly, the house was filled with the sounds of their giggles, their little feet running across the floor, and the occasional squabble over toys. Nani had taken time off to enjoy every precious moment with his family, but now, it was time to return to work.

The first week back was a challenge. Nani's employees were already bracing themselves for his return. It wasn't that they didn't respect him, on the contrary, he was brilliant and ruthless, an undeniable force to be reckoned with.

But the cold, heartless Nani that everyone feared had returned, and it was as if the warmth he carried at home had never existed.

He stormed through meetings, and his sharp words left everyone on edge. The marketing team, in particular, had made a mistake on a new campaign, and Nani tore into them with a severity that had some employees fearing for their jobs.

It was a scene all too familiar to anyone who had worked with him.

But then, something unexpected happened.

Sky arrived in the middle of Nani's lunch break, carrying Niran and Suwan in his arms. Nani's demeanor shifted instantly. The moment he laid eyes on his twins, his tough, intimidating exterior melted away like ice under the sun.

Nani's eyes softened, and a gentle smile stretched across his face as he reached out for Niran. "Look at you, little man." he murmured, his voice now full of warmth. Suwan's laughter filled the room as she squirmed in Sky's arms, reaching for Nani's hand. He tickled her gently, and her laughter only grew louder, her eyes sparkling.

The employees could hardly believe their eyes. Just a minute ago, Nani had been a storm of frustration, his sharp voice echoing through the meeting room. Now, he was laughing, his hand gently cradling Suwan's tiny head, his gaze softening as he exchanged glances with Sky.

It was like watching two completely different people. They could hardly reconcile the two versions of Nani, the stern, commanding boss, and the loving, playful father. The transformation was almost surreal.

A few of the employees exchanged glances, and one of them couldn't help but whisper "I think we've just seen the most terrifying boss become the most doting father in a matter of seconds."

--

Prim, Win, and Dew took Niran and Suwan to the mall, deciding it was time for the twins to get some new toys, despite the fact that they already bought them new ones almost every week. With the kids out for the day, Sky and Nani were finally left alone at home.

Ever since the twins arrived, they had become the center of attention. Everyone, including Win, who usually lived to tease Nani, had completely abandoned his usual antics to fully embrace his role as the devoted uncle. It was almost comical how their once chaotic group now revolved around two tiny humans.

Nani was searching for the company documents he had brought home, but no matter where he looked, they were nowhere to be found. He opened the drawer near the bed, thinking Sky might have placed them there since they were important, but instead, his eyes landed on something else—an old journal.

Curious, he picked it up and flipped through the first few pages, quickly realizing it was Sky's journal. Settling onto the bed, he began reading through each entry. He found it both cute and amusing—most of Sky's writing was about food, random classmate drama from their high school days, and little doodles here and there.

But then, Nani's heart nearly stopped.

He turned to a page that had a picture of him. Right beside it, Sky had written about his cool attitude in a way that made Nani smirk. After that, there was nothing else about him—until the very last page.

Nani's eyes widened as he read the final words:

"Dear Diary, I am getting married to him."

The date was just before their wedding day.

Nani let out a breathless laugh, his face heating up. Sky Wongravee, you idiot... you've had a crush on me since high school.

Nani held the journal tightly in his hands as he rushed downstairs, excitement bubbling in his chest. Stepping into the garden, he spotted Sky sitting at the table, fully focused on his work, eyes glued to the computer screen.

Ever since the twins were born, Sky had decided to work from home so he could take care of them himself. Nani hadn't agreed at first, worried it would be too much for him, but as always, Sky got his way in the end.

Grinning mischievously, Nani crept up behind him and suddenly shouted "Sky Wongravee, you've got some explaining to do!"

Sky startled, nearly knocking over his coffee. But the moment he realized what was happening, he smirked and lunged at Nani, wrapping his arms around his waist and launching a full-blown tickle attack.

"Trying to scare me, huh?" Sky laughed as Nani squirmed, struggling to escape. "Let's see who wins now!"

Between breathless laughs, Nani managed to yell "Sky, stop! I need to...talk!"

But Sky wasn't letting go that easily.

Nani finally managed to wiggle out of Sky's grasp, catching his breath as he held up the journal in front of Sky's face.

"Care to explain this?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Sky blinked at the old, slightly worn-out journal before his eyes widened in realization. He immediately lunged for it, but Nani was faster, holding it high above his head.

"Oh no, you're not getting out of this" Nani teased, flipping through the pages dramatically. "Let's see... daily food cravings, complaints about classmates, and—oh! What do we have here?" He stopped at the page with his own picture taped to it, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. "You wrote about how cool I was?"

Sky groaned, burying his face in his hands. "Nani, please..."

"And then" Nani continued, voice dripping with amusement, "there's nothing about me for a while. Until this last page..." His teasing softened as he read the words again, feeling a strange warmth settle in his chest. Dear diary, I'm getting married to him.

Nani glanced up at Sky, who was now peeking at him through his fingers, cheeks tinted pink.

"You had a crush on me since high school." Nani stated, crossing his arms. "And you never said anything?"

Sky let out a long sigh before dropping his hands and looking up at Nani with a pout. "Because you were impossible. You were always with other people, acting all cool. I thought I didn't stand a chance."

Nani clicked his tongue, shaking his head. "Sky Wongravee, you're an idiot."

"But you are married to this idiot." Sky shot back, grinning.

Sky wrapping his arms around Nani's waist before pulling Nani in to sit on his lap and resting his chin on Nani shoulder.

Nani huffed but he didn't actually move away. "If only I had known my high school admirer was this clingy, I would've run the other way." he muttered, though his hands naturally found their way around Sky's neck.

Sky gasped, pulling back to glare at him. "Nani! Take that back right now."

Nani smirked, leaning down so their noses almost touched. "Make me."

Sky narrowed his eyes before suddenly launching an attack again, his fingers digging into Nani's waist as he mercilessly tickled him.

"Sky—! Stop, you—" Nani tried to grab his hands, but he was already laughing too hard, nearly falling over as Sky refused to let up.

"That's what you get for making fun of your devoted husband." Sky huffed, his own laughter mixing with Nani's.

Just as Nani was about to flip them over and take revenge, they heard the front door swing open.

"We're back—oh wow."

They both turned to see Win, Dew, and Prim standing there, arms full of shopping bags, watching the scene unfold with amused grins.

"Looks like we should've taken the twins with us a little longer." Dew teased. "Gave you two some real alone time."

Win wiggled his eyebrows. "Nani, if you wanted to be all lovey-dovey, you could've just told us to stay out later." Prim giggled, covering her mouth.

Sky groaned, burying his face in Nani's chest while Nani rolled his eyes. "You guys are the worst."

"And yet, you still love us." Win said smugly.

Suwan suddenly peeked out from behind Win, holding a stuffed animal in her tiny hands. "Dewdew!" she called out happily.

Dew's heart practically melted on the spot, his previous teasing forgotten as he rushed to scoop her up. "That's right, princess, I'm here!"

Meanwhile, Niran reached for Win, his small hands opening and closing. Win gasped dramatically. "Oh, so now you remember me?" He lifted Niran into his arms, rubbing their noses together. "I was starting to think you liked Dew more than me."

As Win walked in, carrying Niran in his arms, and Prim followed beside him, Dew trailed behind, carefully cradling Suwan. The four of them entered the house, leaving Sky and Nani alone in the garden.

Nani let out a small laugh, shaking his head before cupping Sky's face, his fingers gently brushing against his jawline. He was still perched on Sky's lap, their bodies pressed close, Sky's arms wrapped securely around his waist as if he had no intention of letting go.

Nani leaned in, his breath warm against Sky's lips before finally closing the distance. The kiss was slow, deliberate, filled with years of unspoken words and emotions neither had dared to express back then.

Sky sighed into it, his fingers instinctively tightening around Nani's waist, pulling him closer.

It wasn't rushed, nor was it teasing like their usual exchanges. It was the kind of kiss that spoke of promises already made and a love that had been there far longer than either of them had realized.

When they finally pulled apart, Sky rested his forehead against Nani's, a soft, almost disbelieving smile on his lips. "You really don't regret anything?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Nani shook his head. "No. Not a single thing."

Sky chuckled, his grip around Nani's waist loosening just enough to let him settle in more comfortably. Nani didn't move from his lap, he had no reason to. "It's funny, isn't it?" Sky murmured. "How much things have changed."

Nani hummed in agreement, his fingers absentmindedly playing with the fabric of Sky's shirt. "Yeah. A few years ago, I never would've imagined this. Us. A family."

Sky sighed happily, his smile warm and affectionate. "I never imagined that I could meet you again."

Nani snorted "Back in high school, if someone had told me I'd marry the annoyingly class monitor who always ran around helping others, I would've thrown a chair at their face."

Sky laughed, the sound rich and full of love. "Well, seems like you've run out of luck, huh? Now you're sitting on my lap and have my child."

Nani shot him a playful glare, but his lips couldn't resist curling into a smile. He leaned in and dropped a gentle kiss on Sky's nose, causing Sky to grin even wider.

Family. The word hung in the air like something Nani had never truly understood until now. The family he grew up in had its moments of happiness, but it was incomplete, never truly whole. With Sky, it was different. He had always been a presence of warmth, but now, together, they had built something that felt whole, full, and undeniably theirs.

Thanks to Sky, Nani could finally let go of the past he had carried around for so long. The wounds that had shaped him, that had held him back for years, were healing. Slowly, but surely, he was finding peace. And in this moment, sitting in Sky's lap, surrounded by the love they had built, Nani couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

He couldn't be more thankful that the universe had given him a second chance. A chance to meet Sky. A chance to finally be whole.
