Kacy's POV

"Umph!" Shit, landing on those blocks of hay really hurt. When I jumped out the window I heard some sort of blast then a huge wave of strong energy flooded through my veins.

'Run. I will help her.' Honestly, that voice spooked me. I hesitated at first but somehow the voice... it calmed me down from the ongoing war inside of me begging to return to my mate.

"Your Majesty!? Are you okay? Gosh, this is so stupid! I should've been the one up there fighting!" The knight that went with me looked at me, ah yes I've been so caught up in those tense moments that I didn't even recognize this knight.

Sir Ezek.

He's one of my extremely loyal knights who has been here since i've been coronated. We have a pretty close relationship that he's comfortable to talk to me a little more friendly and not as formal.

I snapped out of my own thoughts when I felt his hands pick me up, "Please, get on my back I will carry you to safety no matter what. I promise on my life." He desperately motioned for me to hop on his back.

Please don't leave mate... my wolf muttered to me in my mind.

We both know that leaving that baby room was the best decision for me and our baby that I have not yet informed Rachel of. She has to have put the pieces together, right? I mean there is a literal baby room...

I hopped on Sir Ezek's back and he literally ran like there might be no tomorrow. That thought scared me a lot.

"Close your eyes, my queen. You will be okay I promise." I didn't even notice I was shaking intensely until I looked at my hands that were on his shoulders.

"I know that, Ezek! Your making it worse, I don't wanna think about our situation right now." He chuckled lightly but it sounded very sad...

He glanced up ahead and sniffed around, what? "Shit." I heard him mutter.

"Madam Kacy. Go run to the cities, find any type of civilization and hide. I fear this is the last I see you." He never addressed me like that in our years of knowing each other. Tears pricked at the corner of my eyes, this is really it huh? Shit man.

"I-..What is happening..?" He shook his head like there was an internal conflict in his mind refusing to tell me.

"I cannot- should not tell you. I know are you with child and if I tell you I am unsure if it would affect your pregnancy, my queen." As if.

"No.. please tell me this may be my last time seeing you my dear friend. Just do me this last favor, what is happening?!" I pushed my question further, I need an answer now.

"Fuck.. I-.. Shit. Leave! Run now! Those inhumane things are coming!" He couldn't even tell me what was happening but I smelt what he sensed and it wasn't a good energy at all.

My motherly instincts came through and in a blink of a second my legs were pounding and pushing through the woods desperate to get away from whatever was happening.

Goddammit! Why can't anybody tell me what was going on? I am their queen after all!

The forest kept swallowing me whole while I kept running more and more into the inviting darkness until I saw something in the corner of my eye. Okay, what the hell was that?

It was a dark and shadowy figure. If I didn't see it then I wouldn't of saw it at all, it was incredibly stealthy. Fuck, no way I could beat them in my human form.

With this thought in mind I shifted into my wolf who changed right into her defensive stance once in control. You could visibly see my growing stomach on my wolf, hopefully no one targets that area. I will truly go mad if something happens to my growing child.

Iris, my wolf immediately growled lowly when she saw three more of those things withering between the trees that seem to be in their favor. One more came into our sight for a second then disappeared.

A weird sensation flowed through me, it wasn't a gut feeling of something bad. No it was like a mix of the two.

We should run. I exclaimed pushing Iris to feel what I feel at the moment.

She was running through the trees in no time but after a few moments we heard the pounding of paws hitting the forest floor, there was like five of them chasing us.

KEEP RUNNING! I yelled out to her.

Luck clearly wasn't on our side because we reached a river, Iris put her paws into the water to test the temperature but it was cold, cold enough to give us hypothermia by the time we crossed.

You see some of the rivers were enchanted with an extreme coldness to prohibit others to cross the river into another territory. Often done by witches who had a good relationship with others that wanted it done.

We managed to stumble upon one unfortunately.

There's no other way to run! If we go back in the forest I am sure that more would be hot on our tail! Iris told me, desperation lacing it. I could tell her instincts were kicking in too, we had no other choice than to fight.

Two male wolves arrived in front of us first, wasn't there five total? Where are the other three? Whatever it gives me a better chance at survival anyways.

"Look what we have here. The female mate of our target, boss would surely appreciate this." One of them snickered. Enjoying the slight fear that was radiating from my body.

"I-... Uhm I don't know Eddie we shouldn't target her mate just because boss P said so... We hate him anyways so why do we even listen to his orders..?" The other male questioned obviously feeling sympathy for me and judging by the subtle glance he did towards my belly I assume he sensed I am with child.

"If we don't do this then WE get the consequences, Rio. The five of us are our own little family we cannot afford to care about others when we are already in a horrible position ourselves." They continued to go back and forth.

I looked around for more places to possibly have an escape route for me but came empty handed. "Oh fuck this!" The male I assumed was Eddie yelled out.

Next thing I know there was a huge wolf charging towards me, he lunged at me with some sort of guilt and cold look in his eyes.

He didn't reach me though.

Another wolf tackled him, she's female. "Eddie, what the hell is wrong with you!? THIS WOMAN IS PREGNANT. DO YOU NEED ME TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU?" She yelled in his face obviously in disbelief that he would attack someone like me.

"Not you too, Elise. We need to protect each other! I cannot do that without changing the lives of people who don't deserve it." He looked at me when he said that, the hell? Eddie surely is out of his goddam mind.

A muzzle nudged my neck startled I growled while putting distance between me and this other... female?

"Do not be afraid your majesty. We will help you." She said while glaring at Eddie. The other male, Rio was just looking at us.

Everything else went by in a blink, the group seemed fun and outgoing but Eddie was still sulking from his earlier lecture.

They led me to a treehouse that nobody else knew except them. The two females I came to learn were Elise and Sam, they were really kind and nice keeping a conversation alive. For Eddie and Rio's earlier argument they punished them by making the two males guard the door.

Wait...

Wasn't there five of them chasing me?

I didn't have time to dwell on that when there was a clang of spears and the familiar comforting scent of my mate at the entrance of the treehouse.
