Prim had always been observant. It was something Tu liked to tease her about-how she always noticed the little things before anyone else. The flicker of an emotion, the shift in someone's tone, the unspoken words lingering between people.
And right now?
Right now, she was watching something unfold between Gemini and Fourth, and no one could convince her that it wasn't something big.
She had seen it in the way Gemini acted around Fourth-the careful way he moved, the hesitation in his usually sharp words, the way his fingers lingered just a second too long when he touched Fourth. It wasn't obligation. It wasn't guilt.
It was something else.
Something deeper.
Something that Gemini himself didn't even seem to understand yet.
Prim had been waiting for the right moment to bring it up, and tonight, with the five of them gathered in the lounge, felt perfect.
Tu was curled up next to her, their fingers lazily intertwined as they shared a knowing look. Across from them, Pond was scrolling through his phone while Phuwin rested his head against his shoulder, half-asleep. Gemini and Fourth sat across from each other, silent but present.
It's time.
Setting her teacup down with a soft clink, Prim cleared her throat dramatically. "Alright, we need to talk about something important."
Pond barely looked up. "This isn't about Gemini and Fourth again, is it?"
Tu grinned, squeezing Prim's hand. "Of course it is."
Phuwin groaned, nuzzling further into Pond's shoulder. "You two are obsessed."
"No, we're just right," Prim corrected with a smirk. "You guys have seen how Gemini treats Fourth now, right? He's changing right in front of us."
Pond scoffed. "That's called basic human decency."
Prim rolled her eyes. "No, this is different. Gemini doesn't do basic human decency. The guy has been ruthless for years. But now?" She tilted her head toward where Gemini and Fourth sat, too quiet, as if they knew they were being talked about. "He's softening."
Tu nodded eagerly. "He's actually paying attention to someone other than himself. That's huge."
Phuwin cracked one eye open. "So what? Maybe he just feels guilty."
Prim smirked. "You think that, but have you noticed the way he looks at Fourth?"
Silence.
Then, Pond frowned. "Okay... I'll admit. It's weird."
Prim leaned forward, excitement buzzing in her chest. "Exactly. The way he's so protective, how he always makes sure Fourth is okay-even if he tries to act like he's just being responsible."
Tu sighed dramatically. "It's painfully obvious."
Phuwin groaned, finally sitting up. "You two are making it sound like some tragic romance."
"Because it is one!" Tu said, half-laughing.
Pond rubbed his temples. "Fine, but even if Gemini does feel something, what makes you think Fourth feels the same?"
Prim and Tu exchanged a knowing glance.
"Oh, he does," Prim said smugly.
Tu grinned. "He just doesn't know it yet."
Phuwin shook his head, but Prim didn't miss the slight smirk tugging at his lips. "You two sound like you're narrating a drama."
Prim leaned back against the couch, feeling entirely too pleased with herself. "Because it is one. And trust me..."
She glanced at Gemini and Fourth-at the way Fourth had unconsciously leaned just a little closer, at the way Gemini's fingers twitched, as if holding himself back from reaching out.
"The climax is coming soon."
---
Fourth had never been good at understanding his own feelings. He had spent most of his life pushing them aside, locking them away to avoid the pain that came with vulnerability. It was easier that way-easier to pretend he didn't care, easier to convince himself that people didn't matter.
But Gemini was making that impossible.
It wasn't just the way Gemini acted toward him now-the quiet concern, the careful touches, the way his voice had softened in a way Fourth never thought possible. It was the way Gemini made him feel.
Safe.
And that was dangerous.
Because safety had never been something Fourth believed in. Safety was an illusion, a fleeting thing that disappeared the moment you let your guard down. But with Gemini, he had started to feel it.
In the quiet moments, when their hands brushed unintentionally. In the way Gemini always positioned himself just a little closer, just a little in front, as if shielding him from the world.
And the scariest part?
Fourth didn't want to pull away.
He had spent months bracing himself for coldness from Gemini, had trained himself to expect nothing but sharp words and indifference. But this sudden warmth?
It left him completely unbalanced.
Yet, for some reason...
He didn't hate it.
