The morning sun filtered through the grand windows of the mansion, casting a soft golden glow over the breakfast table. Everyone was already seated, chatting and laughing, but their conversations hushed slightly when Gemini entered the dining room—with Fourth right beside him.
To the shock of everyone present, Gemini’s hand rested protectively on Fourth’s lower back as he guided him toward a chair. He wasn’t yanking or forcing, just… gently leading him, as if Fourth was something fragile that needed careful handling.
Fourth, on the other hand, was too busy focusing on not combusting on the spot. Ever since their talk the night before, Gemini had been acting… different. More patient. More careful. Almost too careful, as if Fourth would shatter at the slightest touch.
And the worst part? Fourth wasn’t sure how to feel about it. His heart fluttered whenever Gemini’s hand lingered on him, but it also made him anxious. Was this real? Or was Gemini just being kind out of guilt?
“Morning,” Gemini’s voice cut through Fourth’s spiraling thoughts as he pulled out a chair for him before sitting down himself.
That was new.
The room was eerily silent now, everyone watching the two as if they were some rare wildlife that needed to be observed from a distance.
Fourth cleared his throat awkwardly. “Uh… good morning.”
“Did you sleep well?” Gemini asked, his tone softer than usual. Too soft.
“Y-Yeah.” Fourth nodded quickly, suddenly feeling self-conscious.
Pond and Phuwin exchanged a look, trying (and failing) to suppress their smirks. Prim and Tu were whispering to each other, and Mix and Earth just outright stared.
Tay and New, however, were absolutely beaming, practically radiating smug satisfaction.
“What?” Gemini finally snapped, glaring at the table full of amused faces.
“Oh, nothing,” Prim hummed, sipping her juice with a knowing smile.
“Yeah, absolutely nothing,” Tu echoed, nudging her playfully.
“Just wondering when you turned into a doting husband overnight,” Pond added, snickering.
Gemini scoffed, rolling his eyes. “You’re all idiots.”
But instead of arguing further, he did something that made everyone’s jaws drop.
Casually, like it was the most natural thing in the world, he leaned over and pressed a kiss to Fourth’s temple.
Right there.
In front of everyone.
Like he didn’t care.
Like he had been doing it all his life.
Like it was normal.
Fourth’s entire body stiffened, his brain short-circuiting as warmth bloomed in his chest. His hands clenched into fists on his lap, his heart pounding so loudly he was sure Gemini could hear it.
The table exploded into chaos.
“WHAT?!” Phuwin practically choked on his drink.
“DID HE JUST—” Tu gasped, clutching Prim’s arm.
“OH MY GOD, HE REALLY DOESN’T CARE ANYMORE,” Pond hollered, pointing dramatically at Gemini.
Mix and Earth just chuckled knowingly, shaking their heads. Tay and New looked proud—so, so proud.
And Gemini?
He just kept eating, completely unfazed. As if he hadn’t just rendered his husband into a blushing, trembling mess in front of everyone.
Fourth, however, was too stunned to do anything but gape at him.
Did that just… happen?
Did Gemini really just—
“Eat your food, Fourth,” Gemini murmured, nudging his plate closer. His tone was calm, but the ghost of a smirk played on his lips.
Fourth swallowed hard, staring at him, eyes still wide. “Y-Yeah.”
And as he quietly picked up his fork, he couldn’t help but think:
This was dangerous.
Very, very dangerous.
Because if Gemini kept acting like this—so warm, so soft, so effortlessly affectionate—
Fourth was afraid he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from falling.
