The sun had already set, casting a warm, golden glow over the mansion as the evening lights flickered on one by one. Dinner had been lively—filled with teasing, laughter, and knowing glances that Gemini had learned to ignore. Fourth, on the other hand, was still trying to hide his blush every time someone mentioned their ‘progress.’
After dinner, the two found themselves back in their shared bedroom, the quiet intimacy settling between them like a soft embrace. Fourth sat on the bed, playing with the hem of his oversized sweater while Gemini leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching him.
“Something on your mind?” Gemini finally asked.
Fourth hesitated before nodding. “It’s just… everything’s been changing so fast. Us… this.” He gestured between them. “Sometimes, it still feels unreal.”
Gemini pushed off the wall and walked over, sitting beside him. He didn’t say anything right away, just watched as Fourth kept fidgeting with his sleeves.
“You’re scared,” Gemini finally murmured.
Fourth bit his lip before nodding. “A little.”
Gemini reached over, taking Fourth’s hand in his. His thumb brushed against the inside of his wrist, a silent reassurance. “You don’t have to be. I’m here.”
Fourth glanced up at him, those big eyes filled with vulnerability. “Even when I’m difficult?”
“Especially then,” Gemini replied without hesitation. “I know I’ve been rough around the edges, but I don’t regret any of this.” He squeezed Fourth’s hand gently. “I don’t regret you.”
Fourth swallowed, feeling the warmth spread through his chest. He leaned forward, resting his forehead against Gemini’s shoulder, inhaling his familiar scent.
“I think I…” Fourth hesitated, his voice barely above a whisper. “I think I love you.”
Gemini’s breath hitched, but his grip on Fourth tightened. He pulled back slightly, tilting Fourth’s chin up so their eyes met. “You think?”
Fourth let out a soft, breathless laugh. “I know.”
A slow smile spread across Gemini’s lips. “Good. Because I know I love you.”
The words settled between them, a confirmation, a promise. Gemini leaned in, pressing his lips softly against Fourth’s, this time not caring if anyone saw, not caring about anything but the person in front of him.
When they finally pulled away, Fourth was grinning, his face pink, but there was no hesitation in his gaze anymore.
“So,” Gemini smirked, “are you finally going to stop running away every time I kiss you?”
Fourth rolled his eyes but tightened his arms around Gemini’s neck. “No promises.”
Gemini chuckled, pulling him closer, pressing another kiss against his temple. Outside, laughter and voices echoed through the halls, but in that moment, it was just the two of them—wrapped in warmth, in love, in the undeniable truth that they were exactly where they were meant to be.
And for once, Fourth didn’t feel the need to run. ----------
