The ceremony had been a blur, a series of rehearsed steps leading to an inevitable conclusion. Fourth barely heard the vows, barely felt the weight of the ring sliding onto his finger. It wasn’t real—it couldn’t be.

Then came the moment.

“You may now kiss.”

Gemini didn’t hesitate. He leaned in, pressing a firm, fleeting kiss against Fourth’s lips. There was no tenderness, no emotion—just obligation. When he pulled away, his expression was unreadable, his gaze distant. Fourth swallowed hard, forcing himself to smile for the crowd as they erupted into cheers.

They returned home, Gemini’s family, filled with elegant furnishings and untouched luxury. Fourth should have been in awe, but all he felt was emptiness.

He stood in the entrance hall, taking in the high ceilings and cold marble floors. Everything was perfect, yet it felt foreign—like a beautiful cage.

Everyone else were had decided to stay at another mansion to give Gemini and fourth some space to adjust. So the huge mansion was going to be empty till morning.

Behind him, Gemini tossed his suit jacket onto a chair. “Well, here it is,” he said, his tone flat. “Hope you like it.”

Fourth turned, his voice quiet. “It’s… big.”

Gemini shrugged. “You’ll get used to it.”

Fourth watched as Gemini walked past him, disappearing into another room without a second glance. No warmth, no acknowledgment. Just two strangers trapped in an arrangement neither of them wanted.

Left alone in the massive house, Fourth wrapped his arms around himself, staring at the life he had been forced into.

It didn’t feel like home.

Fourth wandered through the endless hallways of the mansion, trying each door one by one. Locked. Every single one.

His hands trembled slightly as he tried the last door, hoping for a different result. It didn’t budge. His chest tightened.

This had to be some kind of cruel joke.

Swallowing hard, he turned back toward the master bedroom—the only room left open. The room he was supposed to share with Gemini.

He hesitated in the doorway, his fingers curling around the doorframe as he took a deep breath. Gemini was already inside, lounging on the bed, his phone in hand as if nothing was out of the ordinary.

Fourth cleared his throat. “The other rooms are locked.”

Gemini barely spared him a glance. “Yeah, I know.”

Fourth’s stomach twisted. “You knew?”

Gemini sighed, setting his phone down. “What does it matter? It’s just a bed.”

But to Fourth, it wasn’t just a bed. It was the absence of comfort, of warmth. He had always sought out Prim, Tu, or Phuwin when things became too overwhelming—safe, familiar presences that made the darkness seem less suffocating. But now, he was stuck with Gemini, someone who had never offered him a shred of kindness.

Still, he had no choice. With slow, reluctant steps, he climbed onto the bed, staying as close to the edge as possible. His body was tense, his mind screaming for an escape that didn’t exist.

Gemini reached over and turned off the bedside lamp. “Go to sleep,” he muttered, as if it were that simple.

Fourth curled up on his side, staring at the unfamiliar ceiling. The air between them was thick with silence, heavy with unspoken words.

Sleep wouldn’t come easy tonight.
