Chapter 35: The Green-Eyed Monster
It was supposed to be a normal afternoon. Shen Yu should have been focused on his assignments, his student council duties—literally anything other than Lu Zhixuan.
But lately, Bai Xue had been spending more and more time with him. And for some stupid reason, every time Shen Yu saw them together, something in his chest twisted uncomfortably.
Not that it mattered. It wasn't jealousy. Absolutely not.
Yet, when Bai Xue leaned in just a little too close, her fingers lightly brushing Lu Zhixuan's arm as she laughed at something he said, Shen Yu felt his grip on his locker tighten.
Then, slam.
His locker door shut with a force that echoed through the hallway.
The noise caught Lu Zhixuan's attention instantly. He turned, eyebrows raised, before a slow smirk crept onto his lips. "Something wrong, Zhao Rui?"
Shen Yu forced a scoff, crossing his arms. "Nope. Everything is just fine."
Lu Zhixuan took a step closer, tilting his head slightly. "Are you sure? Because you look like you want to kill me."
Bai Xue blinked, looking between them. "Shen Yu, are you upset about something?"
"Nope," Shen Yu repeated, his jaw tightening. "Why would I be? It's not like I care what he does."
Lu Zhixuan's smirk deepened. "Really? You don't care?"
"Not even a little bit," Shen Yu snapped, spinning on his heel before he could say something truly embarrassing.
As he stormed down the hallway, ignoring the way his face burned, he could hear Lu Zhixuan chuckling behind him.
Somehow, that just made him even more irritated.
