Chapter 42: An Unexpected Confession
It was supposed to be an ordinary afternoon.
Shen Yu had been on his way to the library when a hand suddenly grabbed his wrist.
"Hey—what the—"
Before he could react, he was pulled into an empty classroom, the door clicking shut behind him.
Lu Zhixuan.
Shen Yu blinked in confusion. "What are you—"
Then Lu Zhixuan said something that nearly stopped his heart.
"Do you like me?"
Silence.
Shen Yu felt the floor drop out from under him. "W-What?!"
Lu Zhixuan crossed his arms, his gaze unreadable. "You act jealous. You blush every time I get close. And you still haven't stopped thinking about our kiss, have you?"
Shen Yu's throat went dry. "You—you're imagining things!"
"Am I?" Lu Zhixuan took a slow step forward. Shen Yu instinctively backed up, only to hit the desk behind him.
Trapped.
Lu Zhixuan leaned in slightly, his voice lower now. "Then why are you shaking?"
Shen Yu swallowed. He hadn't even realized his hands were trembling. He curled them into fists, forcing himself to stay still.
He was not going to lose to this smug bastard.
"I—" He tried to say something, anything, but nothing came out.
Lu Zhixuan tilted Shen Yu's chin up with two fingers, forcing their eyes to meet. "If you really don't feel anything," he murmured, "say it."
Shen Yu opened his mouth.
Nothing.
He tried again.
Still nothing.
Lu Zhixuan's smirk softened into something else—something that made Shen Yu's pulse quicken even more. He stepped back, his gaze lingering for a moment before he turned toward the door.
"I'll wait."
And then he was gone.
Shen Yu exhaled shakily, pressing a hand to his chest. His heart was still pounding.
He was officially in way too deep.
