Extra 1: A Love That Transcends Time
It was late in the afternoon when the conversation began, the sun casting a soft glow over the school grounds as Shen Yu and Lu Zhixuan sat on the rooftop, a place they'd often come to for peace and quiet. It had been a long week, and Shen Yu had been feeling restless, his thoughts spinning in circles. Today, however, something felt different. He had been carrying a weight in his heart for some time, something he hadn't shared with anyone—especially not Lu Zhixuan.
Lu Zhixuan leaned back, his hands tucked behind his head as he stared up at the sky, his usual smirk absent. "You've been quiet today. Something on your mind?"
Shen Yu's eyes wandered to the ground below them, his fingers nervously tracing the edge of his sleeve. This wasn't something he had planned to bring up, but with the way Lu Zhixuan had been treating him, the way their relationship had grown, it felt like it was time. He couldn't keep hiding this from him, not anymore.
"Lu Zhixuan," he began softly, his voice uncharacteristically serious, "there's something I need to tell you."
Lu Zhixuan turned his head, his gaze locking onto Shen Yu. "What is it? You look like you're about to confess something big."
Shen Yu hesitated. His heart raced, and his palms felt clammy. But he knew if he didn't tell him now, he might never get the chance. "I—well, I don't really know how to say this," he admitted, a nervous laugh escaping his lips. "But the thing is, I'm not from here. I wasn't always... me."
Lu Zhixuan furrowed his brows, clearly confused. "What do you mean?"
Shen Yu took a deep breath, his eyes glancing away briefly, as though trying to gather his thoughts. "I wasn't born in this world. I came from a different place. A different time. I... I transmigrated here."
There was a long silence. Shen Yu felt the air between them freeze, and for a moment, he feared that Lu Zhixuan would think he was joking, or worse, that he would never look at him the same way again.
But then, slowly, Lu Zhixuan sat up and looked at him, eyes intense and unreadable. "Transmigrated?" he repeated quietly, as if testing the word on his tongue. "So, you're telling me you weren't always... Zhao Rui?"
Shen Yu nodded, his voice shaking slightly. "No. I wasn't. My name wasn't even Zhao Rui. I don't remember exactly how it happened, but one day I was... someone else, in a different place. And then I woke up here, in this body, in this life. Everything changed."
Lu Zhixuan's expression softened, his gaze shifting from confusion to something deeper, something more understanding. "So... this life, this version of you, it's not your first?"
Shen Yu shook his head, a small, rueful smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "No. It's all a little hazy, but I remember enough to know that I'm not from here. I never asked for this, but it happened. And for a while, I didn't know how to handle it. I thought it was just some crazy dream."
Lu Zhixuan stayed quiet, the usual teasing glint in his eyes replaced with something that almost looked like concern. "That's... a lot to take in." His voice was soft, thoughtful. "But, I don't know. You're still you, right?"
Shen Yu's heart skipped a beat. He hadn't expected him to say that. "You really think so?"
Lu Zhixuan gave him a small, reassuring smile. "Of course. You might not be from this world, but you're still the guy I care about." He leaned forward, reaching out and placing a hand gently on Shen Yu's. "That's all that matters, isn't it?"
Shen Yu blinked, a rush of warmth flooding his chest. "You're not freaked out by this? Not even a little?"
Lu Zhixuan chuckled, a genuine, easy sound that made Shen Yu feel more at ease. "Are you kidding? If anything, this just makes you more interesting. Transmigration? That's cool as hell."
Shen Yu let out a relieved laugh, the tension in his shoulders easing. "I was worried you'd think I was crazy."
"Crazy? No way," Lu Zhixuan said, his grin returning. "You're perfect just the way you are. Past, present, future—it doesn't matter. You're mine now, and that's what matters."
Shen Yu felt his chest tighten in the best way, his heart racing as he looked at Lu Zhixuan. "You're okay with this?" he asked again, almost needing reassurance.
Lu Zhixuan squeezed his hand. "Of course. We'll figure it out together. Besides," he added with a smirk, "you might not be from here, but I'm pretty sure I was meant to meet you."
Shen Yu's breath caught in his throat. For a moment, all he could do was stare at Lu Zhixuan, his thoughts spinning. He had been so afraid to tell him, to open up about this strange, unbelievable part of his life. But now, with Lu Zhixuan looking at him with those steady, kind eyes, Shen Yu realized something: It didn't matter how he got here. What mattered was that they were here now, together.
And that was enough.
