Extra 7: The Secret Notes
The classroom was filled with the usual hum of students—some scribbling down notes, others distracted by their own thoughts. Shen Yu was sitting at his desk, focusing on the lesson, when he felt something light land on the edge of his desk. His heart skipped a beat. He glanced down to see a small, neatly folded piece of paper.
His eyes quickly darted around the room, but there was no sign of the culprit. The teacher was busy scribbling on the whiteboard, and no one else seemed to have noticed the note. Shen Yu's breath caught in his throat as he carefully unfolded the note, his fingers trembling slightly.
The message inside was simple, written in Lu Zhixuan's neat handwriting:
"I'm thinking about you right now. Can't wait to see you later."
Shen Yu's heart fluttered, and a warm blush crept up his neck. He glanced at the back of the classroom, where Lu Zhixuan was sitting a few rows behind, casually resting his chin on his hand, his gaze subtly locked on Shen Yu. There was a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips, but he didn't give anything away. It was as if he had just planted a secret between them, one that only they shared.
Shen Yu's stomach did a little flip, and he quickly folded the note back up, tucking it into his bag to hide it. He tried to focus on the lesson again, but the words blurred as his thoughts wandered back to the note.
Lu Zhixuan had always been bold. Whether it was with his teasing remarks, his quick grins, or his subtle touches, he never hesitated to make his feelings known. But this—this note—was different. It was a reminder that no matter where they were, no matter how many people surrounded them, Shen Yu was always on his mind.
His mind raced with questions. How did Lu Zhixuan manage to make such a small thing feel so personal? And why did his heart always race like this whenever he received one of these notes?
The bell rang, signaling the end of class, and students began to gather their things. Shen Yu stood up, trying to act normal despite the rush of excitement that was still pulsing through him. He made his way to the door, but before he could leave, a familiar voice called out.
"Did you like my note?" Lu Zhixuan's voice was low, almost casual, but there was something in the way he said it that made Shen Yu's pulse quicken.
Shen Yu turned around, his heart beating faster. "You... you did that on purpose, didn't you?"
Lu Zhixuan's grin widened, and he pushed himself off his desk, stepping closer to Shen Yu. "Would you have preferred I said it out loud in front of everyone?" He raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying the effect his words had on Shen Yu.
Shen Yu opened his mouth to respond, but his words faltered. The thought of Lu Zhixuan being so bold in front of everyone made his stomach flip, and he quickly looked down, his cheeks burning with a mix of embarrassment and excitement. "N-no, I..." he stammered, unsure of how to express his feelings. The truth was, he loved the secret nature of it—the way Lu Zhixuan could make him feel special without drawing too much attention to it.
Lu Zhixuan's eyes softened as he observed Shen Yu's flustered reaction, and for a moment, the teasing glint in his eyes faded. He stepped closer, until there was barely any space between them. "You're so cute when you blush," he murmured softly, his voice just for Shen Yu.
Shen Yu felt his heart hammer in his chest. "Stop," he muttered, his face turning even redder. He could barely meet Lu Zhixuan's gaze, but the warmth in his chest grew, filling him with something he couldn't quite describe.
Lu Zhixuan chuckled softly, his hand reaching out to gently ruffle Shen Yu's hair. "You'll get used to it, I promise."
Shen Yu smiled shyly, the lingering warmth from the note still settling in his chest. The truth was, he didn't ever want to get used to it. The little notes, the teasing, the glances—they were all part of the beautiful chaos that was his relationship with Lu Zhixuan. And as much as he tried to keep it together, he knew that every little thing, every note and every touch, only made him fall deeper.
As they left the classroom together, their shoulders brushed lightly, and Shen Yu couldn't help but feel the weight of the note in his bag, a constant reminder of the connection they shared. It was something only the two of them understood—a secret only they carried, and it made Shen Yu feel like he was the luckiest person in the world.
When Lu Zhixuan reached out to grab his hand, intertwining their fingers effortlessly, Shen Yu squeezed back, his heart still racing. It wasn't the big gestures that mattered. It was these little moments, these secret notes, that made him feel like he was the most important person in Lu Zhixuan's life.
