Seth groaned, as the light entered his eyes. He regretted opening them up too quickly, and covered the light a bit. As his eyes adjusted, he found himself not on the engine, but a new room.
Just then, a door opened, and in stepped a familiar giant cat.
"Seth," said Catnap, "Are you... injured?"
"No," said Seth, "Catnap, what happened? Last thing I remember is Poppy cha-"
Seth stopped, clenching his fist.
"Poppy," said Seth bitterly.
Seth stood up, but felt a pain in his arm. He looked at it, and saw it was dislocated. He prepared himself, and popped it back into place, with him going, "AAAAAAAAH HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!!!"
Catnap then covered Seth's mouth, with him saying, "Quiet. HE is near. Listening."
Seth looked at Catnap, and slowly uncovered his paw from his mouth, as a sound was heard. Metalic clanking, before a wind up was heard. The clanking then continued.
"What was that?" asked Seth.
"The Prototype," said Catnap, "I am the undercover spy to watch him."
"Under cover spy?" whispered Seth, "What do you mean? What happened here?"
Catnap looked at Seth, only to say, "Follow me."
Seth followed Catnap down through the tunnels, and lead him to Playcare. Looking around, Catnap said, "I once tried to make this a refuge for the many toys here, but.... one by one, they slowly went mad."
"Mad?" asked Seth.
"I am the last of the Smiling Critters," said Catnap, "I was.... forced to carry out the Prototype's will. I had to do it, to prove I am loyal and not blow my cover. I had to........... had to......."
Catnap fell, sobbing on the ground. Seth gently rubbed Catnap's cheek, as the cat said, "I had to kill them."
Seth was in shock, as Catnap said, "I... didn't want to. They were my friends. They were the only friends I had. After you left."
"Catnap, what did the Prototype do here?" asked Seth.
Catnap looked at Seth, and said, "You do not want to know."
Seth sighed, knowing he won't get any answers from Catnap either. He then said, "Hey, where's the workshop here? I'm gonna finally fix up your voice box."
Catnap looked at Seth, and lead him to the shop. Inside, there were many parts. While they looked a bit rusted, a little cleaning helped out. Seth wasn't a genius, but knew how to fix simple things. His daughter's toys did break a few times, and Seth was able to fix them himself.
"Okay, so, how does this work?" asked Seth, with the finished voice box.
Catnap then sat down, chest out, and pulled on the Crescent Moon pendant. Seth then looked, and felt around. It felt wet inside.
"Oh god, this is disgusting," said Seth, "Are those organs!?"
"Yes," said Catnap, "Up further."
Seth stuck out his tongue, going up, and felt an object that wasn't organic. Gently, he pulled it out, finding the voice box.
"Okay, so, these wires here, just, gently pull-"
Seth pulled them, and Catnap jolted in shock as if he was in pain.
"Oh, sorry!!! Sorry!!" said Seth, "Just, gotta.... put this, here."
Seth gently put in the wires, and asked, "How's that?"
"Okay," said Catnap, his voice now not so deep and scratchy, "Hey, it worked!"
"Yeah," said Seth, putting the voice box back in place.
"Seth," said Catnap, "why are you here?"
"Well, I'm looking for the employees," said Seth, "I've run into Huggy and Mo- OH SHIT!!!! THEY'RE STILL ON THE TRAIN!!!"
Catnap looked at Seth, and let him ride on his back, "Hold on."
Catnap then ran through the tunnels, to the train crash.
"Oh jeez!" said Seth, "We gotta.... get... thr-"
Seth stopped, hearing something.
"Is that..... a phone?"
Seth looked at the door on the wall, and opened it. Inside, there was a Playtime Phone ringing. Picking it up, he asked, "Um.... hello?"
"Hey... hey, can you hear me? You look kinda lost. I'm surprised you befriended Catnap."
"Well, I did look after him," said Seth, "along with the other toys here."
"Well, that could explain it. I saw the train crash. I know you're probably mad at Poppy for not letting you escape. But she needs you. We need you. You are our mission. Together, we can save a whole lot of people."
"So, what now?" asked Seth.
"Head back to Playcare. I'll guide you through the area with Catnap. When you get there, I'll call you again. Oh, by the way, my name's Ollie."
"I'm Seth."
"Nice to meet you Seth."
Ollie then hung up, with Seth looking at Catnap.
"I see you've met Ollie," said Catnap, "A child who escaped the Hour of Joy. Been trying to find him, but we couldn't."
"So, was he like... a baby at the time?" asked Seth.
"Perhaps," said Catnap.
Soon, Catnap lead Seth back to Playcare.
