Red heels echoed through the hallways with a rhythmic ticking sound. Clad in a doctor's robe with a nameplate that read De la Vega, she stepped forward with quiet confidence.
As she opened the door, numerous staff members stole curious glances at her—the newly hired doctor whose beauty had already become the subject of whispers and rumors.
"Wow! Is that her?"
"I never knew that the rumors were right!"
"She really is beautiful!"
"Wow her beauty is really outstanding!"
"Are those eyes even real? It feels so fake"
"Is she really that capable? Come on she's still young but she can enter that position already?"
"Yes! she probably went through the backdoors"
"Hey shush! She might hear us!"
Thanks to her sensitive hearing, she easily picked up the admiring and envious whispers of the staff.
However, she paid them no mind—she was used to it. Ever since her days as a student and even as a doctor in modern times, such reactions had always followed her.
She went to the washroom first and caught her reflection in the mirror, looking exactly as she did in modern times.
Her silvery-white hair cascaded down her back, curling gently at the ends. One of her most striking features was her deep red pupils, a trait that set her beauty apart.
Her eyes were mesmerizing—so captivating that anyone who looked into them would feel an irresistible pull. They held an air of mystery, drawing people in with their depth.
Her nose was delicately pointed yet charming, and her lips bore a natural cherry-red hue. Plus her model like figure, almost no one can compare to her beauty.
She never wore makeup, as her skin was highly sensitive to cosmetics. Additionally, her mysophobia made her believe that makeup only trapped dust on her skin, making it feel unclean.
"Fuck I'm so gorgeous!" She smiled narcissistically.
She had been here in Playtime Co. Factory for quite some time, and today, she was set to assist Doctor Stella Greyber with paperwork regarding the children who would be arriving at Playtime Co. to stay.
However, since it was her first time visiting the onsite orphanage, Stella Greyber would first introduce her to the Playcare staff and the children.
"Oh if it isn't the famous beauty, Doctor De la Vega" Stella greeted.
"Doctor Greyber! Nice to meet you"
"Well, with beauty like yours, you could have been a model or an artist. Why choose to be a doctor? There’s nothing glamorous about it—just blood, illness, and endless patients to treat.”
Yazmina turned to face Stella, her expression unreadable. She had heard similar remarks before—people who couldn’t comprehend why someone with her looks and intelligence would willingly immerse herself in the demanding world of medicine.
She tilted her head slightly, a faint smirk playing on her lips. With the height of 5'9, Stella has to look up at her “And yet, here I am. Beauty fades, but knowledge and skill remain. Besides,” she paused, her crimson eyes gleaming, “who says saving lives isn’t fun?”
The person in front of her chuckled nervously, clearly taken aback by her response.
"So how did you find the factory? Is it to your liking?"
"Well so far, it's nice that I can expand my full potential by working here"
"There's a lot more to explore, Doctor De la Vega," Stella said with a knowing smile.
"Playtime Co. is full of surprises—some more fascinating than others."
Yazmina nodded, glancing around the facility knowingly and smiled. "I can tell. The atmosphere here is... unique."
Stella chuckled. "That’s one way to put it. But you’ll get used to it soon enough. Now, before we get into the paperwork, let me introduce you to the staff at Playcare. They’ll be your main point of contact when working with the children."
Yazmina followed Stella down the hallway, her heels clicking softly against the polished floor. The deeper they went into the facility, the more she felt a strange mix of excitement and unease settled in her chest.
"Let's get inside the cable car first, Doctor De la Vega. This is the only way to reach Playcare," Stella said, gesturing toward the entrance.
As the doors slid shut, Stella leaned back and began to explain. "Eliot Ludwig, the founder of this factory, established Playcare as an underground on-site orphanage in 1976. He dedicated every waking moment to designing and crafting toys, often working overtime without rest. His creations soon gained national recognition, allowing him to expand his empire—building more factories, hiring more employees, and eventually establishing Playcare as a sanctuary for homeless children."
She paused, glancing at Doctor De la Vega before continuing. "However, after Ludwig's death, control of the company fell into the hands of Leith Pierre. I assume you've already met him since he's responsible for hiring new applicants. Just a word of advice—don’t get on his bad side. He’s... eccentric, to say the least."
Stella smirked, lowering her voice slightly. "And then there’s Doctor Harley Sawyer. Cold, calculating, and completely unhinged. If I were you, I’d keep my distance—he’s a textbook psychopath." Despite the weight of her words, she smiled as if she hadn’t just casually thrown both men under the bus.
The cable car hummed softly as it moved deeper into the facility.
Yazmina listened intently, absorbing every detail. She knew that something about this place already felt off since this is exactly what the game is like.
Well all she knew was the aftermath of what happened but before everything happened, she's excited to see what Playcare has been like.
The cable car stopped and the door automatically opened.
"After you, Doctor De la Vega" Stella said with a smile.
When Yazmina got out of the cable car, all she could say was that Eliot Ludwig was a total genius.
"Wow" Yazmina was amazed as she slowly descended the stairs.
Stella chuckled "Wait till you get to see the rest of Playcare. This is just the beginning," she said, stepping out of the cable car behind her.
Yazmina took a moment to absorb her surroundings. It's really different from the game.
"Everything here is so real" she thought.
The underground orphanage was far from what she had expected. Unlike the cold, sterile environment of most facilities, this place had an eerie yet oddly enchanting atmosphere. The walls were adorned with faded murals of cheerful children playing with colorful toys—remnants of a time when this place might have felt warm and inviting.
Now, however, a strange stillness hung in the air, as if something unseen lingered beneath the surface.
Stella led the way down a long corridor, her heels clicking against the tiled floor. "Ludwig didn't just want to give these children a home—he wanted to create a paradise for them. A place where they could feel safe, surrounded by the very toys he designed with love and care." She glanced at Yazmina with a smirk. "Of course, whether or not he truly succeeded is... up for debate."
Yazmina frowned slightly. "What do you mean?"
"You’ll see soon enough." Stella's tone was playful, but there was an undeniable edge to it. As they reached the center, there were statues of the toys called Smiling Critters.
"Welcome to Playcare!" Stella said. Beyond them, the orphanage awaited.
