Chapter 1 – The First Time She Saw Me

ADRIAN POV

I never expected anyone to step in. Not for me.

The usual kicks, the laughter, the cruel whispers, I had learned to endure them.

I didn’t fight back. I

never did...

But that day…

she appeared...

"Aren’t you all ashamed?" Her voice cut through the jeers like a blade.

The group of guys froze...

Even I froze.

Aurora stood there, arms crossed, her sharp gaze slicing through them.

She looked so… angry.

Not for herself.

But For me...

"Leave before I report you," she snapped.

And like cowards, they left. Just like that.

I stayed on the ground, unsure if I should thank her or pretend I didn’t exist.

"Are you okay?" she asked, kneeling beside me.

I looked up at her, golden hair catching the sunlight, concerned eyes watching me.

She was beautiful...

More than that...

She was kindness itself...

I forced a nod.

My voice felt stuck in my throat.

She smiled.

"Good. Next time, don’t let them push you around."

I wanted to say something.

Anything...

But she was already standing, already walking away, like she hadn’t just changed my world with a single moment of kindness.

That was the first time I saw her. Truly saw her.

After that, I started watching.

A Few Days Later

I sat in the library, pretending to read. But my eyes kept drifting to her.

She was sitting at the next table, flipping through a book, completely unaware of me.

I liked that...

I liked watching her when she didn’t know.

I tried to focus on my own book, but then...

"Adrian, right?"

Her voice...

She was talking to me.

I looked up too quickly, nearly knocking my pen off the table.

"Y-Yeah."

She smiled again... That smile...

"I see you in Literature class. You always sit in the back."

She noticed me. She noticed me.

I swallowed hard. "I...uh, yeah. I like the back."

She chuckled softly.

"Same. Less pressure there."

A pause...

A perfect moment...

I wanted to make her stay longer...

I wanted to make her talk to me more...

But before I could think of something clever to say, she stood up, tucking the book under her arm.

"See you in class, Adrian."

She walked away.

And just like that, I had a new purpose.

To keep watching... To keep her in my world.

Because she was the only one who had ever seen me.
