Chapter 7 – The End of Friendship
"Aurora, I love you."
For a moment, she just stared at me. And then—she laughed.
It wasn’t the kind of laugh I wanted to hear. It wasn’t the soft, beautiful one that made my world feel lighter. This one was sharp. Disbelieving.
"Are you pranking me?" she asked, her brows furrowing.
My stomach twisted. "No. Aurora, I..."
"Stop." Her voice was firm. Her expression unreadable.
I swallowed hard, desperation clawing at my throat.
"I meant what I said. You make me feel safe. You make me feel like I'm not alone in this world. Every moment with you feels like home."
But she shook her head. And then, she whispered something that made my blood run cold.
"I didn’t expect you to be just like the others."
Her eyes burned with something close to betrayal. "I thought you were different, Adrien. I thought you were kind. That you weren’t like the others... selfish, fake, pretending to care just to get close to me. But in the end, you’re just like them."
"Aurora..."
"This is over." Her voice wavered, but she kept her chin high. "Whatever we had between us... our friendship,"
"it ends today. I hope I never see you again."
I felt the words like a punch to my gut...
"And if we do meet," she added, her voice cutting through me like a blade, "then just act like I’m a stranger to you."
Then she turned and walked away.
I didn’t stop her.
I couldn’t...
Because she was right.
I used her, just like everyone else. Maybe not in the same way, but I still did.
She wanted a true friend. A pure friendship. And instead, I fell in love with her.
But what she doesn’t know is that I need her.
And I will make sure she sees that.
One day.
