The next day, you all were heading out to start the drive home.

You hugged Maddie as she asked, "You'll come to my football match with Nick right?"

"Yes love, we will be there," you smile and she runs inside.

You say goodbye to Nick's mum and sit in the car. Landon and Noah had left already, Nick had come out and was irritated by his mother's reminder to stay out of trouble if we wanted to attend Maddie's game.

Nick sat in the car with a hard look on his face. You watched him start the car and drive away. You knew something was up. The way he glared at the road with a tense posture.

Your phone lit up with a text from Lion, about racing tonight. You thought about it before deciding to ask, "Are you going later to-," he cut you off.

"I'm busy." His face was void of any emotion. You looked at him, confused as to why he was acting so odd.

"Okay, didn't even let me finish the question. What's up with you," you ask as his grip tightens around the steering wheel.

"Nothing, just need to keep away from trouble," he said, leaving that hanging in the air. However, you couldn't shake off the feeling that he was indirectly saying you were trouble.

"You're saying I'm trouble?" You looked at him puzzled. He looked at you from the corner of his eyes before focusing on the road. You scoffed, "Well then playboy, what about fighting? That's not trouble now, is it?"

"I have to fight Ronnie," he said sternly.

"There is always a choice, Nick. You're either hiding something or just have your ego over your head to not realize you're falling into his trap and not seeing who you're losing." You rub your temples from the growing headache.

"Oh really, you think you know so much? I am not losing anyone, yeah," he argued.

"You're gonna lose Maddie, the most important girl in your life" you yelled. He turned to look at you as you continued, "You really think your mum's gonna let you see her after that?"

"Drop it, you don't know anything," he warned.

"So you're hiding something, this fight with Ronnie is something bigger than it seems." You felt a little satisfaction in figuring out his behavior but more questions came to who and why?

You felt Nick's gaze as you looked out the window, your mind running. Little did you know, Nick had two girls who were the most important to him. Nick fell fast for you, he saw you at the races many times and felt that invisible pull, but he could never meet you. Fate really made him wait so long until Noah came, and that's when he finally met you.

However, one of the two most important girls in his life was now under threat from Ronnie.

And he left himself no choice but to protect you, which meant fighting Ronnie.

Just as he pulled into the parking lot, you were texting Lion for a race tonight. Nick saw the response from him on your lock screen, saying you were in for one. You got out of the car before opening the boot and taking your bag out. You closed it and walked into the elevator, pressing the button and seeing Nick watching you until the doors closed. And that's when you hear his car speed off.

Just as you entered your apartment, your phone rang with Noah calling.

"What's up babe," you asked before you heard her heavy breathing and Landon calming her down.

"Babe, what's going on," you say concerned as Landon says he was on his way.

"Someone's here, around the house. I'm scared, please come. I'm alone," Noah said in fear. Your eyes widened as you took your keys from the table and run out. You knew she was having flashbacks from that trauma she endured with her father.

"It's okay babe, we're on our way okay? Where are you in the house?" You asked as you sped off to her house.

"Fireplace in the living," she answered, her voice trembling.

"Grab the fire tool, Noah, keep that with you," you instructed as you drifted a turn.

"I'm almost there, okay? Just stay where you are and away from the windows." You turned to the street she lived on as Landon said he was also around the corner.

"I'm here, I'm coming inside," you say as you open the front door. Noah ran into your arms as you hugged her. You both hear tires screech to a stop and a door close. You pull apart and see Landon, Noah runs to him.

Another car stopped in the driveway and as you were about to go to the door with the fire tool you had taken from Noah, Landon quickly spoke up, "It's Nick. I texted him."

He came through the door, however you quickly turned to face the hall, hearing footsteps your way. You held the tool defensively as you slowly went forward, Nick rushed to you. His hand wrapped around your arm and you looked up at him.

"Stay back," he said. You narrowed your eyes at him before responding with, "I can handle myself."

"I know you can, but I meant what I said last night. Now stay behind me." He took the tool from you and gently pushed you to be behind him.

Landon stood in front of Noah protectively as the intruder revealed himself.

Nick was about to swing but stopped when he saw who it was.

You became full of anger seeing who it was, Landon was also pissed but kept his arm around Noah who say telling him to not hurt him.

"You fucking piece of shit," you yelled at Dan as you pushed past Nick who threw the tool to Landon before wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you back against him.

"What are you doing here?" Nick glared at him as you subconsciously leaned back against Nick, looking away from Dan.

"Noah's mum invited me to surprise Noah," he quickly said, feeling scared of you. "And Brady."

Your head snapped back as Brady emerged from behind, with the biggest smirk on his face.

"Miss me," he said smugly.

Nick's glare intensified at him as you were seething with anger.

"Missed punching your lights out? Yeah, definitely. And I'll do it again," you say as you try to push out of Nick's hold, making him tighten his hold around you.

However, a voice behind you all filled the air.

"Oh Martin, just hold on for a minute, yeah? Oh kids, did I miss the surprise," Noah's mom asked.

You let out a breath of air, closing your eyes, trying to calm down as you couldn't act like this in front of her. Nick's thumb traced circles on your hip, trying to help you calm down.

"I told Dan to bring Brady, you three were close. Unfortunately, Haley couldn't come as well," she continued completely unaware of the truth.

You rolled your eyes at her name, mumbling, "It's good she isn't here. Or add her to the list of people I'd swing at."

Nick laughed quietly, hearing you.

"Nick and Jay! When did you two start dating?" Noah's mom looked surprised but had a huge smile on her face as well.

You were about to correct her but Nick spoke up first, "Just recently, over the trip. I had asked her to be my girlfriend."

You looked up at him and he smirked, knowing you wouldn't saying anything right now with unwanted company around. She left to continue her phone call and Noah came forward with Landon's arm still around her waist.

"You stay here as shitty friends, got it?" Dan sighed while Brady rolled his eyes. You saw that and glared at him. Noah and Landon walked away hand in hand as they left for their guest rooms.

"Why hasn't she told her mom what happened yet," you ask wondering.

"Don't know love," he responded, not caring about them anymore and savoring the moment of him having you in his arms.

"You can let go of me," you say, realizing you are still in his arms. He spun you around in his arms, keeping you in his hold.

Your hands landed on their chest as you looked up at him. He looked at you, something in his eyes you couldn't figure out.

"What if I don't want to," he said softly, leaning down.

"I thought I was trouble," you reminded. He sighed as he rested his forehead against yours.

"I didn't mean it like that, Jay." Your name rolled off his tongue ever so delicately.

"What's going on Nick," you whispered.

Your hand made it's way up from his chest to rest on his cheek. His eyes closed as he leaned into your touch.

"I saw the gears turn in your head, you're right. There is something bigger to this fight with Ronnie, but I can't say what it is."

Your hand fell as you tried to push him away but he tightened his hold around you again.

"What is it, Nick? What is it that you are not able to tell me," you pushed for an answer.

He looked at you upset and the look in his eyes said that he really couldn't tell you. He saw the disappointment in your eyes.

He couldn't tell you because the answer was you.
