"You did not," Nick spoke with surprise.

"You bet I did," you smirk as you get out of the car that was parked in front of the racing track.

"Come on, let me kick your ass in racing. Set the record straight, yeah," you tease as he playfully narrows his eyes at you with a grin.

His arm finds its way around your waist as you walk in and follow the instructor for your tracksuits.

You pull on your racing suit and zip up before zipping up Nick's and strapping the collar around while he holds you in his arms, admiring you.

You and Nick had playful banter while the racing coach was giving instructions. Nick also kept trying to steal a few quick kisses when the instructor would look away and you'd have to push his face away each him.

Soon you both were ready to hop in your McLaren. Nick made a gesture with his fingers, saying he had his eyes on you while you smirked and said, "Bring it on bad boy."

As soon as the lights flash, you put your foot down to the gas and have a better reaction time than Nick as you pull ahead of him.

"Too slow," you taunt and turn the first corner.

"Oh, the race just started love. Just you watch," he spoke back, his voice filled with determination.

You stayed ahead of the race and were reaching the final 2 corners.

"Come on pretty boy, you made this so easy for me," you tease.

The roar of his machine was his response and he tried to cut ahead during the turns but you kept him behind in both corners and successfully crossed the finish line first.

Nick slammed his hand against the steering frustrated as you hopped out with a victorious smirk.

The engine of his car roared as he sped down the highway you pulled out a little box with a bow on it.

"Here is your gift," you say with a smile.

He smiled back with a chuckle. "Another one? The track was more than enough, love."

"Open it," you urge as he lifts the lid, his eyes looking at the road and back to the gift. He pulls out the small red figure, a replica of what he owned before it was taken from his hands.

"It's my car," he laughed humourlessly, a hint of pain and sadness in his words.

"Nick," you start softly. His eyes glanced at you before focusing on the road again.

"I'm sorry about the loss of your car, the way looked at it spoke volumes to me about your love for it. As much as they may have it now, I promise we will get it back. We'll together bring your baby back home and punch whoever's lights out if they come in our way."

A soft subtle smile grew on his face, as he put the car in the cup holder and interlaced his hand with yours.

"Thank you, love." His voice was close to being neutral, but you heard the small amounts of appreciation and tenderness to it.

He pulls into the gas station for a quick stop to refill his tank. You hopped out to buy some snacks and drinks as he filled the car.

"What an absolute tragedy to that man," you say after settling in the car. You bring up the bar wrapped in blue, his favourite chocolate.

He looked at you confused as you brought up a small packet with 3 golden-wrapped balls in it.

"The cashier has never had a Ferraro Rocher before? Can you believe that," you say astonished as he takes the pack from your hands.

"Well, in that case, tragedy has struck twice then." Your head whipped towards him, eyes widening in shock.

"You too! You've never had one," you yelled. You huff and snatch the pack back and open it.

"We are undoing this tragedy right now, open your mouth," you say sternly as he follows your instruction.

You take the now unwrapped chocolate and push it into his mouth, which he playfully leans in and bites your finger.

"Hey! Eat the chocolate," you say before laughing. As he begins to chew, you see a surprised look on his face.

You were about to speak until the sound of a golf club smashing down on the windshield rang. Soon a couple of men swarmed around smashing the car with a bat and more golf clubs as you held the door closed, Nick leaning over to keep your door closed. Pieces of glass broke and fell into the car as you covered his head with your arms to protect him from the falling glass.

"Hit the clutch," you yelled as Nick shifted and pressed his foot on the clutch. You move one hand under him and shift the gear into reverse.

"Reverse! Reverse, let's go!" Nick slams down on the accelerator as the car speeds backwards.

He sits up before drifting the car straight and shifting gears while speeding away from the station.

"Holy shit," you mumbled, hand running through your hair as you try to process what had just happened.

The silence engulfed the car for a few moments before Nick broke the ice.

"That chocolate was really good."

You looked at him, as he looked at you from the corner of his eyes. You stared at each other for a few seconds before bursting out in laughter.

"Unbelievable that you had never had one before," you say as you place your hand on his arm.

"We are crazy," he laughs as he moves your hand from his bicep and holds it in his hand.

"Damn right we are, but Nick," you pause with your mind now going into overdrive. "That was Ronnie, right? But who was that older man with him? I didn't get a chance to see his face."

"I don't know who he was love but that was for sure Ronnie. I saw his face in the rearview mirror when I looked as we left," he said with a sigh.

"Do you think that anonymous man was the one who sent me that picture?" You felt a hint of fear run in you as you thought more and more.

"Maybe, but don't run your pretty head over this now yeah?"

You nod as he pulls into the parking lot of your apartment. He rushes out of the car and opens your door.

"Come on, I'll drop you at your door," he says, holding his hand out.

You smile and take it. You both head up to the 6th floor, where you live and reach your door.

"Why is there a black mark," you ask, the question hanging in the air before your eyes widen. Nick's did as well as the atmosphere became tense.

"Oh no, no, no. Please don't tell me," you say and quickly unlock and open your door.

Your apartment was wrecked. Broken glass from vases and picture frames on the floor, the coffee table was flipped upside down and drawers open with papers scattered everywhere.

It was absolutely trashed.
