Chapter VIII - Delirious Delusions

Dr Lazer miserably headed back to his room. He had to navigate around many corridors and up a variety of steep staircases before he would arrive to go to bed. His room was on the highest floor of the manor house. However, he sometimes liked being isolated from the others. He shuffled towards his room, stiffly inserting the key into the lock. Opening the door, he sighed and launched himself on top of his springy bed. The curtains remained open as Dr Lazer had experienced many nightmares in the past. Before going to bed, he studied the barely visible outside of the house - he stared at the green grass, the trees, and the small civilization in the gloomy distance. Sometimes, Dr Lazer wished he could live in the outside world - alone, but he knew no different. He climbed into bed, letting his head sink into the pillow. Thoughts and memories whirred around in his brain until he settled on one thought. Then his dream began:

Strolling through the manor house, Dr Lazer found himself amid an argument between Lord Horror Hill and Electro in the corridor. He desperately tried to delay the argument by separating the two Horror Hillians. A cacophony of sounds echoed off the walls as the two men continued to bellow and screech. The vexation between the two Horror Hillians increased until the outrage fell into silence. The delirious Dr Lazer drifted side to side, crashing into Electro. Instantaneously, Electro vanished into thin air. Turning to dust, he yelled:"I will kill you, Vincent John Lazer!" Electro raised his hand forwards, jabbing his finger at him.The image of Electro slowly faded, and without a chance for him to think about what was happening, he found himself in Lord Horror Hill's office. He made his way towards the front of the office room and realised he wasn't getting any closer to the exit. The archaic door just seemed like an endless number of meters away from him.

What felt like a day later, Dr Lazer was still trying to get to the door. All of a sudden, he collapsed, the virtuous being lay a heap on the floor. Aware of Lord Horror Hill sitting on his rocking chair, Dr Lazer realized that he hadn't been properly acknowledged yet.

"You know, young Lazer, I never doubted you. But now you are just a blade of grass in a meadow. You're meaningless, idiotic, and worst of all, a disrespectful Horror Hillian that will not influence the rest of Horror Hill. Now evict this appalling Horror Hillian! He doesn't deserve a place in Horror Hill!" Lord Horror Hill screamed across the room.

Dr Lazer stared at the Lord, bewildered, before falling through the floor of the room. Whizzing down to his doom, Dr Lazer could faintly hear some jazz music playing in the background. The muddled Horror Hillian started squirming and flapping his chubby hands like a bird trying to fly. Still falling, Dr Lazer was confused at why they would play such calm, relaxing music when he was falling to his death. Hopeless, Dr Lazer pounded the ground.

Suddenly, he vaulted out of his bed; his hands were clenched to the pillow. Shaking, he heavily wheezed, whilst trying to regain his breath. He was extremely glad that it was all a dream. However, he would never observe Horror Hill the same again. The question lay within him: "Am I safe here?"
