Chapter XVIII - Coffins and Crowbars
However, the Lord was more concerned about finding the coffin rather than who did it and hobbled around the forest seeking it. Imminently, Lord Horror Hill found the sunken coffin. He began to dig it out with his walking stick. Eventually, after being very persistent, the Lord dug a big enough hole to pull out the casket. By the time the Lord had got back to the makeshift campsite, Viscount Phantom and Dr Lazer had packed up the tent. The Lord praised their kindness as he wanted to get going to the graveyard.
While they were ambling across the pebbled track, Electro remarked, "Whoever left the casket outside purposefully should be deeply guilty and is only going to suffer the consequences." The Viscount looked side to side, wondering if Electro had said the right thing while Dr Lazer rolled his eyes at the childish remark.
When the four Horror Hillians were at the graveyard, Dr Lazer helped the Lord to place the coffin in the ground next to the gravestone, saying, 'Master Charles Burns 9012'.
While the other Horror Hillians stood with their black umbrellas in a circle, Electro stood still: he stood their lifelessly staring at the headstone of the Butler's father. The numbers meant nothing to Electro and nor did the name - he never met the man - but it reminded him too much of his family and the day Cobra killed them, so he was determined to destroy anything that reminded him of it.
A rain cloud glided over the memorial park as thunder began to rumble. Lord Horror Hill warned everyone tread carefully as the paths would get muddy in the rain. Electro still stood there engrossed in memories, twitching uncomfortably. Impulsively, he swung his leg out threateningly towards the archaic headstone and snatched a rock from the ground and hurtled a stone at it. Tears formed in Electro Von Poison's eyes - tears of anger.
The three Horror Hillians were speechless that Electro would dare to disrupt the sombre atmosphere. Before anyone could comprehend what was happening, he lashed out a small crowbar, which he had kept in his bag, and demolished the headstone that belonged to the Butler's dad. Swinging the metal object back and forth, Electro continued to smash the headstone. Fragments of concrete flung in every direction as it began to rain heavily. Electro Von Poison - a ball of anger - was stood in the downpour, obliterating the memorial stone.
The Horror Hillians crowded around Electro Von Poison and didn't bother to intervene this time. From past experience (at Butler Burn's remembrance meal), the Horror Hillians realised that intervening would escalate the situation. After letting all of his anger out, Electro Von Poison stood away from the Horror Hillians who were lowering the coffin.
