Chapter XIX - A Vial of Evidence

On the way back, Electro trailed behind Viscount Phantom and Dr Lazer. As soon as they got home, Lord Horror Hill finally knew the potential of Electro Von Poison, and that distressed him massively as it was hard to monitor all the Horror Hillians, let alone an unpredictable one.

Dr Lazer was now convinced that Electro was hiding something - that he killed the Butler. It was obvious to everyone now after the ordeal at the cemetery, but Dr Lazer was going to be the one to do something about it! Dr Lazer, as daring as he was, went up to Electro's bedroom, where he thought he could find more evidence. He hoped a piece of evidence would make him more believable to Lord Horror Hill, and surely after having seen Electro smash the headstone, Lord Horror Hill would come to sense. Electro Von Poison was sat staring into the expanse of the library, deep in thought. Dr Lazer was stunned to see that his bedroom door was open, so this was his perfect chance to step into the unknown.

The bedroom was cluttered with cans and crammed with clothes all strewn across the floor. In and amongst the untidiness was a cylindrical object. Dr Lazer picked it up; slowly bending down, he wheezed. As he brought it into the light, he gasped: it was a vial of poison. It all made sense to him now - the froth in the Butler's mouth and the injection. As it became apparent to him, Dr Lazer's brain whirred. Electro Von Poison had swapped the Butler's medicine for poison from this vial. There was nothing to lose - he had to tell Lord Horror Hill as he now had the evidence! He dashed down the stairs and turned into his office, oblivious to the sound of footsteps on the dark oak floor.

Lord Horror Hill perched on his rocking chair, almost bewildered at how there was a dark side of Electro, he had never been accustomed to. There was a reluctant hammering on the office door. It was Dr Lazer, to the Lord's surprise, and he entered with a face that seemed like he knew more than he did once again. Dr Lazer was usually timid and reticent, but he could interpret the features of someone's personality better than his own.

Lord Horror Hill looked up from his contemplation to see Dr Lazer at the door. The Lord nodded as if to expect an immense discussion between the pair of them.

"Keep your voice down, but Electro left the casket outside the tent, and I found a poison bottle that may link to the murder of the Butler. I think I have figured it out! Electro swapped the Butler's medicine for poison. The froth and his gouged eyes....", Dr Lazer began.

The bookshelf shuddered as the door was swung open and flung off its hinges. There amid the doorway stood a towering figure looming over the office.

"Is that so?" The low, mocking tone reverberated around the room. "What makes you think you've figured it all out, Vincent?"

The sunlight, which was permeating the room, was so scarce that the Horror Hillians could hardly see a thing, let alone the tall, slender structure. The figure became apparent when Lord Horror Hill noticed the beige suit that hung down from his skeletal body.

There Electro stood, his hand grasping a metal, serrated object. Electro's face was glowing crimson with animosity; as he stared at Dr Lazer and the Lord, his withered skin was hanging down from his cheekbones. Electro staggered into the room, his grimace developing into an obnoxious frown.

With a forceful shove, Electro launched the antique desk onto its side. Lord Horror Hill examined Electro, confused. How had he misinterpreted someone's intentions so badly? Electro's anger still didn't diminish as the intensity of the situation grew.

To regain the composure in the room, the Lord promptly but softly exclaimed, "Please Electro," in an inaudible tone.

Electro glared at Lord Horror Hill - he no longer needed a reason to be violent. He hurtled a book at the Lord and pinned Dr Lazer to the wall. Dr Lazer's fist swung, surprisingly forcefully, into Electro's face. Turning away, Electro spat blood onto the floor and dragged the knife from his pocket, and brought it closer and closer to Dr Lazer's neck.
