Chapter XXIV - The Selection of Suffering
Electro had only just awoken from his sleep until he observed his destiny coming towards him.
There walking down the hallway were two men in hooded masks as black as ebony. Small holes revealed their rabid eyes. Heavy boots thumped the floor, an echo bouncing of the walls. Shackles draped down from his leather belt; keys hung from chains. Armour rested on their bodies, making their gait an imperfect stride. A metal object rested on his arm, which was covered by a long elastic gauntlet. He took one look at the object (what looked like an axe) and ran to his bed in desperate fright and confusion.
"Why me?" Electro whispered to himself.
Trailing and hobbling behind the two executioners was a man with a colossal beard that draped down from his chin. He had a top hat lying on his head and a maroon suit that draped down from his waist. From behind the covers of his bed, Electro peered at the man. It was Lord Gustav Horror Hill. Lord Horror Hill walked past the cells, nodding and smiling at the criminals. Screeches of terror and gasps of fear reverberated off the walls.
"Hello, prisoners. Today, I would like to select some of you to join me in the room at the end of the corridor. Stay alert for the call of your cell number," Lord Horror Hill spoke softly, disclosing no information.
Filled with suspense, the prisoners scampered for their lives, hiding under beds, and behind toilets. Electro Von Poison was fearful of the unknown - what could Lord Horror Hill do to them? He wondered if Lord Horror Hill had forgotten about him, or perhaps, hopefully, he wasn't chosen, but that wasn't worth contemplating as there was no chance of it happening.
