Athena's Pov

“Is that? Oh my God!” I gasp as I kept looking at the beauty in front of me.

She's too pretty to take my eyes off. And it hurts to see her with assholes like them.

“Grandpa,” I whisper to him. “Tell me I'm not dreaming.”

“Ouch!” I cry out when he pinch my arm. “That hurts.” He laughs in return.

“What happened now?” He knows I overreact to everything so it isn't a surprise to him that I've lost my mind over something again.

“That car,” I say, completely awestruck by it. “It's the newest model of Bugatti, it hasn't even hit the market yet. And the paint job, I bet it's custom. And did you notice the number plate on it? These people are disgustingly rich, grandpa.” I tell him dramatically, keeping my voice low so nobody hears us.

“I know.” He shakes his head.

He doesn't like how much money and material things charm me. This same allure ruined his sons. It made them into who they are today. Selfish but content with their life.

I don't know what I expected them to look like but who they are was not on my mind.

They looked…. well.

They looked like all these years without grandpa —without me— didn't affect any part of them.

They were all dressed in the best possible jeans and jackets with their hair well kept and face lacking any sign of distress.

They looked so satisfied with where they were. They had the life they always wanted. The life that they got after abandoning an unborn child.

But I don't care what they did or how happy they are now. They don't matter to me. Their existence doesn't make any difference in my life. “We'll go in that one.” Grandpa tells Zyphre.

He looks back at him as if he knows why grandpa picked the sexy car. The other two simply ignored the scene and went to sit in a jeep with men who I'm assuming are their bodyguards.

It's obvious why men this rich would have protection but it seems to be a little too much. There's more than fifteen cars which I'm assuming atleast consist of four men each.

Maybe they had more security come in because grandpa was attacked. I expected them to bring the police but I’m glad that atleast they didn't skip on the paramedics.

“The one driving us is Zyphre, right? Which one is Ares and Hades?” I ask grandpa when Zyphre goes to sit in the driver seat.

“The guy with a ponytail is Ares, the other one is Hades.” He replies as we walk to the car.

Since he was shot in the shoulder, walking on his own doesn't seem to be a lot of trouble which is why he refused any help from the trio.

My jaw drops as I open the car door. The matt black leather seats begged me to sit on it and I didn't waste any time before hopping inside.

I was putting a cushion behind grandpa so he could sit comfortably when Ares came towards my side and opened the door to throw a jacket on my lap.

“Wear this before we get home.” He didn't wait for a reply and just left.

It makes sense that they wouldn't want me to dress inappropriately in front of their staff. But I didn't realize I was dressed inappropriately.

Grandpa shook his head at Ares' behavior letting me know he doesn't approve of it. I decided to not spoil my mood because of a stupid person and took out my phone.

I started taking a few selfies making sure the interior was fully visible. I looked like a mess with my mascara smudged with tears and hair ruffled into a sort of nest. But since everything is cool on the internet these days, my appearance was perfect for a hurt bitch look.

I have so many pictures up on my social media that one with me crying won't seem like a big deal to anyone since I post anything and everything online.

“You need help?” Grandpa asks, tipping his chin towards my phone.

I nod, passing him my phone. I didn't want to ask for his help because he's injured but he knows I really needed a shot from his angle.

Even if I have to direct him to get a perfect angle, in the end he does take a few good photos every time. But today I didn't want to overwork him so I ended it after some clicks.

I kiss his cheek as a thank you and start scrolling through the gallery to choose the ones that need to be seen by more people.

“We're here.” Zyphre announced parking the car.

I was so busy that I hadn't looked up yet. But when I did, I was blown away by the money the mansion reeked of.

I immediately stepped out to get a better view. When I went towards the other side to help grandpa out, Zyphre was already there doing what I'm supposed to.

I hate that these men think he's more of their responsibility than mine.

I move my gaze back to the tall building in front of me. It was a beige colored three stories with grey roof and black border around the windows.

At the far left corner, there was a smaller structure with pastel peach cobblestone columns surrounding it and a similar roof sitting on top. It was the size of a basketball ring and seemed to only have a single door. It looked like a private area and I made a mental note to check it out later.

There were two fountains on either side of the driveway and both were set in neat landscape. Another road was at the right end that possibly led to the parking but Zyphre had parked in front of the entrance.

The french doors were a bit of modern touch to the antique looking structure. It was like they wanted to keep the original aesthetic but updated a few things to suit themselves.

There were so many guards stationed at the gates and two at the front door while a lot more were roaming the grounds as if we'll be attacked any minute.

As Zyphre started walking inside beside grandpa, I fell in the step next to him. I looked around to take in all the details of something I’ve only seen in my dreams.

He didn't spare me a single glance but I had full attention of one of the guards stationed at the front doors. While all the guards were respectful and gazed at me once before averting their eyes, this one was daring as his eyes shamelessly dropped from my chest to my legs.

I smirked and leaned my leg further towards him so he could have a better look. The moment caused him to look up at me. When I made sure Zyphre and grandpa were out of ear shot, I leaned towards him.

“If you want to see the whole thing I can take off the fishnet?” I said mockingly.

He gulped as he realized that he messed up. Maybe he thinks he might lose his job because of me but he doesn't know that his bosses don't care if he eyerapes me.

“I'm sorry miss.”

His voice came out shaky. I expected him to be embarrassed or scared for his job but he was fearful. I rolled my eyes at his apology and hurried inside to catch up to grandpa.

“I gave you the bloody jacket to wear.” A harsh whisper near my ear made me instantly turn back and come face to face with Ares.

“Can't you just do as told?” Hades was right next to him with a clenched jaw.

I came to the conclusion that both the brothers have seen me talk to the guard. And they obviously blame my choice of clothing for his lustful gaze on a minor.

“No, I cannot. So next time don't waste your energy trying to dictate me.” I said nonchalantly.

“Don't you-” He took a deep breath. “What were you talking to him about?”

“Just the weather.” I shrugged.

“Do we look like fools to you?”

“Don't ask questions you won't like the answer to.” I chuckled.

Ares took a step towards me and my amusement dropped. I was suddenly more aware of my surroundings and where I should possibly run in case he completely loses it.

“If you're living under our roof then you live by our rules.”

“I don't follow rules.”

“You will learn to.” He took another intimidating step.

“Let's start with quitting being a smart mouth and answering our questions like a good girl.” Hades said.

I looked at him weirdly. “I'm not a puppet that you can control. I do whatever I want.”

“That's where you're wrong. If you want to do whatever you want, you're allowed to leave. But if you want to stay here then you'll do what we say.”

“You sound like a bully.”

Hades chuckles. “Oh I am one.”

“I don't want to talk to you.”

I try to leave but my arm is held by the last of the brothers who haven't manhandled me yet; Ares.

“I don't want to see you entertaining our guards with a conversation again. Understood?”

I try to prey his hand away but his grip tightens painfully. I wish grandpa would come back and see all this but he seems to be busy taking a tour with Zyphre.

I nod so he’ll leave me but he spoke again. “And start dressing your age.”

That obviously pissed me off. “What’s wrong with shorts and a crop top?”

“That they cover nothing at all.”

“Tell your guards to not look. I won't change because they're too distracted by a couple of legs.” I glared at him.

“You better behave Athena. Because we won't mind teaching you a lesson or two.” Hades said coming to my other side.

I felt suffocated between the two brothers. Even if I knew they were purposely doing this to scare me, I was still getting so uncomfortable with the situation.

When I didn't say anything, Ares dropped his grip. “Now go inside.” He said annoyed.

I didn't have to be told twice and I rushed inside as if my life depended on it. I was stunned for the hundredth time today as I looked at the luxurious entrance with a grand staircase in the center and a sitting area to the right along with a hallway leading somewhere.

On the left there was another hallway which had several rooms and a pretty chandelier as decor. Zyphre was telling grandpa something about the staff being available six am to eleven at night as he led him towards one of the doors.

He opened the door and turned to me. “This is your room.”

“And grandpa’s?”

“Upstairs.”

“Where's yours?” I was getting suspicious.

“Upstairs.”

“Ares and Hades?”

“Why?”

“Just tell me.”

“Upstairs.” Knew it!

“So I’m the only one who has a room in this far corner of your home?”

“Yes.” He said without an ounce of emotion.

Why would he regret treating me like an outsider —guest at most? He doesn't consider me family. The one he does got a room on the same floor as them.

“I think it's better if Athena and I have a room on the same floor.” Grandpa interjects.

“We don't have a spare room upstairs so unfortunately she'll have to stay downstairs.” Ares explained.

“Well in that case, I'll stay downstairs too.”

“There isn't another room downstairs either.” Now that has to be a lie.

“I'm sure you can free up one.”

“What's the big deal, dad? It's just a room. She's staying with you as you wanted, the floor doesn't matter. And teenagers love their privacy, don't you, Athena?” Hades asks me with fake politeness.

“I do, Hades. I think it's a great idea that I get a room downstairs,” I said with a polite smile then muttered the last part. “Would be easy to sneak out.”

“No sneaking out here.” Zyphre says in all seriousness.

I chuckled but didn't say anything. Zyphre was glaring at me for a few moments before he came up with another order for me to follow.

“Go freshen up. You look like you've been driven over by a truck.”

“Or fucked at a club.” I said with a shrug.

The only purpose of my words was to annoy them because apparently they don't like that I'm a slut. And as expected, they didn't like it at all and looked at me with deadly expressions. I would’ve been scared if I didn't have my grandpa standing right next to me.

But he wasn't on my side either and hit my arm pretty hard. “Ouch! I didn't mean it like that.”

“Of course you didn't.” He glares at me.

“What about breakfast? I’m starving.” I asked Ares with a pout.

I know men like them they don't like childish behavior —or kids in general— so what better than to do exactly what pisses them off.

“It’s every day at seven thirty. Be on time.” He could’ve said that without making it sound like it's a hotel.

I nod and went in my new room as all three of them left for upstairs to show grandpa his room.

If I really think about it then living here doesn't seem too bad. Although I hate the trio with all my gut, I can tolerate them for a month.

And we'll be out as soon as everything's under control. Then I won't have to see them ever again.
