I walked into the police station the next morning angry and with my mind made up. After talking to Danity, I realized I needed to stay a step ahead of her and a step ahead of the Reed's. Danity is no issue to deal with but I know how low down the Reed's like to get, so I'm taking out a restraining order on Victoria and Teddy to protect myself. I know they'll abide by it since none of the like the police because they're all doing shit they're not supposed to be doing.
And I'm doing being Theodore's slave too. It was one thing to fuck a stripper with no standards like Goldie behind my back but then he wifed her up and completely forgot about me and how much he was in love with me. Then to top it off, he was smashing Danity on the side too. I knew he had his other women on the side but he was having sex with women too close for comfort because Danity and I were good friends back then. He crossed the line with me when he went inside of her ran through pussy, so I'm thinking about doing the exact opposite of what he told me to do.
He told me to stay low key and hide away in the hotel like I'm supposed to be scared of Teddy and Victoria but why should I do that when I have law enforcement on my side? Teddy and Victoria won't go near me when I take this restraining order out against them. Hell, I'm even thinking about getting the police to escort me into the home I shared with Teddy and just so happen to stumble upon the bathroom they had me locked up in for so long. That'll expose Teddy and Victoria for the frauds they truly are.
I was greeted by an older black woman as soon as I walked up to the front desk at the police station. "Hello ma'am, what can I help you with?"
"Well, I have an issue with protection. I have people trying to hurt me an--and...," I trailed off as tears started burning my eyes. I had to put on an act to make this whole scene more dramatic than what it really was so when I started crying, I pulled my large sunglasses off of my face and revealed the scars and bruises I had from being held hostage and attacked by Teddy and Victoria. By now, the marks were starting to fade but it's nothing make up can't enhance. "They held me hostage and beat me for over a month. They had me handcuffed to the pipes under their bathroom sink and they were only feeding me dry oatmeal."
The woman gasped. "Oh my God!" she exclaimed as she walked around the desk to pull me into a hug. "W-What can I do for you? Do you need to go to the back and gather yourself?"
I took a deep breath, wiping a few tears away from my face. "No. No, I just want to make this quick. I'm sure they're probably looking for me right now and I can't be in public too much. If they see me at the police station, my punishment will be even worse than what they just did to me. All I want to do is get a restraining order from them. That's all."
"Well, actually ma'am, we can't help you with getting a restraining order. You'll have to go to a courthouse and get the appeal forms in order to begin the process of getting a restraining order taken out. You'll also want to get a lawyer involved and they'll help you complete the forms and once that's done, you'll have to wait to hear back from the courts about the date of your hearing."
I sighed. Damn. I was really hoping I'd be able to serve Teddy and Victoria those papers today. "How long do you think that whole process will take? I-I really don't have time to wait around. These people are very dangerous."
"Well, it won't take too long actually. It all depends on how quickly you can get that form filled out and back to the court. You'll receive information about your hearing within a day or two and a date is set within two weeks but if the restraining order is mandatory, we can get you an emergency hearing and speed this process up so you can have a restraining order out against these people within two or three days."
I nodded my head. "Yes, that'll be good. I just don't want these people trying to sneak me or do anything crazy to me, you know? They've already done enough to me, I'm just hoping they'll actually abide by this restraining order. You see, they have a lot of money and they feel like they can get away with just about anything."
"Not if I'm in charge of this case. After what you said they've done to you, one of my officers should be arresting them for assault. Instead of getting a restraining order, you should've called the police on them and they could've been locked up. And money won't help you in a situation like this. If they even think about breaking that restraining order, they're going to be locked up in an instant. If I might ask, who did this to you?"
I took a deep breath. "I-I can't say. They're going to hurt me."
The woman reached out and grabbed my hand. "It's all right baby. I won't tell anyone."
Shit. I might as well tell her since the truth will eventually come out since she's so involved with what I have going on. "Teddy Reed, the basketball player, and his ex-wife Victoria Reed. They're the ones who did this to me and I'm sure they've done it to countless other people too. I want this restraining order because I--"
"Because you're a dumb ass bitch," the woman cut me off, catching me by surprise.
My eyes widened. "Excuse me?"
She woman smirked. "Yeah, you heard me Milan. You don't think Teddy and Victoria put me on game about your dumb ass? They told me to watch out for you because they're looking for you and now that you're here, I can detain you until they get here."
I scrunched up my face. "Detain me for what? I didn't even do anything! They're the ones that beat me, pushed me down a flight of stairs and held me hostage for over a month! You need to be doing your job and getting the criminals off of the streets."
"Oh, I am. That's why I'm about to get you off of the streets."
"For what? I'm the good guy here. I didn't do anything wrong."
"Oh, don't think Victoria didn't tell me about you sleeping with my baby Theodore now. I don't play no games when it comes to them kids, hoe," she spat and that's when I realized who it was I was talking to. I don't know how they did it, but they got Charmaine to pose as a fake police officer. I didn't even recognize her since she wasn't wearing her long weave. She had on a big curly wig that covered most of her face and it looked like she did her makeup differently to try to throw off the fact that it was her.
I frowned. "You can't even arrest me Charmaine. You're not even a police officer."
Charmaine smirked as she pulled out her badge, that looked fake to me. Her whole uniform looked like it came from Party City. "Charmaine can be anything she wants and today, I wanted to be a police officer so I could arrest your nasty ass and deliver you to Teddy and Victoria on a mother fucking platter bitch."
Charmaine came from around the desk and shoved me up against the front of the desk just as I heard the sound of handcuffs. I don't know how Victoria and Teddy did it but they always stayed one step ahead of me. Even when I was trying to outsmart them, they were always able to outsmart me. I really wanted to lash out and beat the fuck out of Charmaine's old ass but since she was posing as a cop today, I knew I couldn't since there's other officers around. So I let Charmaine arrest me.
"What the fuck are you even arresting me for?" I asked as she tightened the handcuffs on my wrists so they were digging into my skin.
"Statutory r*pe, duh," she laughed. "What? You thought you were just going to get away with sleeping with a minor? Yeah, fucking right hoe. Follow me and you bet not play no fucking games either. I have a gun and I don't mind using it."
Charmaine tugged on my handcuffs as she dragged me to the back of the jail to book me. Well, I thought she was going to book me. She passed right by the area where somebody would normally be booked and drug me off to the back of the jail, where the officers would normally be at. But for some strange reason, there weren't any officers back here and I knew that had to be another set up on Teddy and Victoria's end since their whole family has people in high places on their pay roll.
Charmaine unlocked the doors to a supply closet and looked back down the empty hallway before turning to me. "You better walk your ass in there and don't say shit either," she said as she shoved her gun into my side. "Bitch, I'll pull this trigger and have you bleeding all over this fucking floor. Don't play with me."
"Don't fucking play with me Charmaine. I thought we were cool! How could you do this to me? You know Teddy and Victoria are wrong and should've had held me hostage for all of those weeks. You know they're crazy and the only reason they did it is because Victoria's jealous of me and Teddy went along with it because he's gullible. You gotta believe me Charmaine."
Charmaine smirked. "Oh, I believe you but that doesn't mean I'm gonna have your back because I'm loyal to my family. You don't know anything about loyalty Milan and now we all confirmed that since you ran your ass in here trying to tell the police what possibly didn't even happen in that house with Teddy and Victoria. Who's going to believe you anyways? You're fucking your husband's son, you had an abortion to hide the love child, you were sleeping with a married man who had kids. I mean, I could go on and on with the shits Milan. Bitch, your rap sheet is extensive. Shall I continue?"
"There's no need because you aren't going to believe anything I'm saying anyways."
Charmaine chuckled. "Yeah, you're right but that's why it's time for you to go to sleep. Night night hoe."
Before I could even comprehend what she just said, she butted me in the head with her gun and I immediately fell down into all of the cleaning supplies laying in the floor of the supply closet before everything around me went black.
Theodore III
Princess and I were sitting in the back of some rinky dink diner far away from Atlanta. We were all the way out in Athens, Georgia and I purposely came out this far because I didn't want my family seeing us out here. I know they won't travel over an hour, so they won't be straying too far from Atlanta. I wanted to come out this far so I can see Goldie without any of my family being on my case about it. I'm sick of sneaking around in hotels with her to cover up the relationship we're trying to keep a secret, so I decided to take her out. I mean, it's just to some cheap diner but it's all we can do at the moment.
Princess looked over at my menu and scooted closer to me. "Daddy, what are we doing all the way out here?" she asked, sitting up on her legs so she could be face to face with me. "And I'm hungry. I'm ready to eat."
I wrapped my arm around her, pulling her closer to me. "I know you are but we're waiting on somebody else to get here. We can't eat without them."
"Who is it?"
I smirked. "It's a surprise baby girl but you know, whatever we're doing out here is a secret and if anybody asks what w'ere doing, you gotta say it's business. People can't know what we're doing so you gotta promise me you won't open your mouth.
Princess smiled. "I never tell anybody's secrets."
I raised an eyebrow. "Ion know about all that Princess," I laughed. She's the one that told me about Aubrey and Jazmine having a baby when she was supposed to keep it a secret. She's told other people's business but she hasn't told mine, which is a good thing.
"I promise I won't tell an--Look!" Princess scooted away from me and stood up on the seat of the booth and looked outside at the people walking past the restaurant. I turned around with her and saw Goldie walking past the windows of the restaurant. "It's Mya! I haven't seen her in so long. Are you guys back together Daddy?" she asked, turning to me but she kept her attention on Goldie, who was walking into the restaurant.
"No, not yet," I replied.
I don't think Goldie and I are back together. Well, I'm not exactly sure. We're working on things like our businesses and trying to rebuild and fix what we had in the past and we're doing that by taking things slowly. I'll admit, Goldie and I fell very hard and very fast for each other and I think that was one of the downfalls of our relationship. We got to know each other but not well enough to move in with each other. We didn't know anything about each other's families either. We shouldn't have taken those extra steps without familiarizing ourselves with each other.
So, as of right now, Goldie and I are just chilling and taking thins slow. We're meeting up twice a week for sex but I know I want more from her in the future and I think she feels the same way about me. The only thing getting in our way is our families. We'll have to get through them if we ever want to be together again.
As soon as Goldie stepped into the restaurant, Princess jumped up. "Mya! Mya!"
Goldie walked over to us with a big smile on her face. I can't remember the last time she smiled that much. Here lately, it's only been sex, so once we have sex, we leave the hotel. We don't sit around talking, we don't talk to each other on the phone like we used to and we don't text each other because we don't want anybody finding out we're still in contact with each other. So we just keep conversation to a minimum so it's not really enjoyable anymore.
"Hey Princess," she said as she pulled Princess into a hug. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too but what about Daddy? Did you miss him too?"
Goldie looked over at me and smiled. "Yeah, I missed him a whole lot too but that's why I'm here today. I wanted to see you guys since I haven't seen you guys in so long."
"So does this mean we're gonna be a family again and you're gonna move back in with us? Because I miss you being at our house."
"I don't know about that just yet Princess," I spoke up. "Mya and I have some things to sort out with our relationship and with the family. I been told you judgmental the family can be so it's gonna take them some time to get used to Mya and I being together again. But for now, I want this to be a secret between the three of us. I don't want anybody else to know about Mya being around, alright?"
Princess nodded her head. "Alright. I promise I won't say anything to anybody."
Goldie smiled as she sat down in the booth across from Princess and I. "Good. It'll be our secret but I actually have a surprise for you guys. You guys are really gonna like this."
"What's up?"
"I know it might be kind of soon but I know the summer is ending and Princess will be back in school soon. She probably wants to have some fun before the summer ends and it'll be a chance for the two of us to have a little vacation too. I think we should just leave for a few days and go somewhere that's warm, like Jamaica."
I scrunched up my face. As distributor, Goldie knows I'm busy. I'd like to take Princess on a vacation. Hell, I'd like to go on one myself but I can't just leave the city for days on end because I won't have anyone to run the business while I'm gone. Adonis hasn't been right lately so I can't leave it to him, and even if he was right in the mind, I wouldn't leave my business in his hands. He's too clumsy and irrational. I can't even leave it to Isaiah either because he doesn't know a thing about being distributor or running the business. He manages the clubs, security, getting rid of bodies, and keeping people on our pay roll. He handles all the background work while I'm the front man. It wouldn't be right for me to just leave.
"I can't leave," I shook my head. "I have too much going on with work to just leave."
"You can't have somebody do your job for a few days? I know it's kind of last minute but I already booked our flights and made reservations for the hotel down there," she slowly spoke. "I figured you would've said yes since you've been talking about how busy and stressed out you've been lately."
"But that doesn't mean I can just up and leave what I have going on here though. My business is my livelihood. If something bad happens when I'm gone, I'm screwed and so is the rest of my family. We ain't going nowhere."
Goldie sighed. "Alright. I guess I'll just cancel everything then. Maybe we all can go somewhere another time."
"But I wanted to go though," Princess butted in. "Daddy, can't you get Uncle Isaiah to run the business? Well, what do you do Daddy?"
I sighed. "Don't worry about it baby girl. I'll tell you about it when you're older but we can't go on this trip. I just can't leave everything."
"Well, that's why you make plans so that you can leave everything," Goldie replied.
"But this soon though? I mean, damn. Lindsey just went to prison yesterday morning and I'm supposed to be the one taking care of Daniel for the next 15 years. I can't just fucking leave him with my family. They're all idiots."
Goldie smirked. "Well, you can just bring him to the trip with us if it's that big of a deal. Look, I don't want to argue with you about this Theodore. I just figured it would be something fun for us to do since we haven't been on the best of terms lately. I thought it would help us get back on the right track but if you're too busy to go on vacation right now then we'll just have to reschedule. It's fine," she said as she turned to Princess, who was sitting beside me with her arms folded and her lips poked out. "Princess, you mad?"
"Yes. I wanted to go to Jamaica. I wanted to go to the beach. It's a beach there, right?" she asked, making Goldie smile.
"Yeah, there's a ton of beaches there. It's really beautiful, clear water and lots of sand for sand castles. And I even got the three of us a house off of the beach so we can go down there whenever we want to. Have you ever been to a beach at night Princess?" she asked, making Princess shake her head. "Well, beaches are so pretty at night, especially the ones in Jamaica. I even made reservations for us to stay at this resort that I picked just for you. It had water slides and everything."
"How do you know so much about Jamaica?" Princess asked, extremely intrigued by what Goldie was telling her and I knew Goldie was doing it on purpose. She was trying to get Princess all involved in this trip because she knows I won't say no to Princess, especially when she has her mind set on something.
"My parents always took me and my brother and sisters. We went on a family trip of our choice every year and we went to Jamaica a few times. I figured you'd like it but I guess we're gonna have to wait until another time. I'm gonna have to take back the swimsuits I bought for us."
Princess gasped as she turned to me. "Daddy, please? I've never been to Jamaica."
I smacked my lips. "I know you haven't because I haven't been."
"So that means we should go then. Please? Please? Please?"
I sighed as I turned to Goldie. "When does our flight leave?"
"Tonight."
My eyes widened. "Tonight? What the fuck Mya? You couldn't have told me any sooner?"
"It's supposed to be a surprise and telling you sooner would technically ruin the surprise. So are you coming or not?"
I sighed. "I mean, yeah, I guess but you gotta get Daniel on the plane with us tonight too and I want him sitting with us. I can't leave him here with these people, so once you get that then we'll come with you. And you can text me all the details and shit too. You wanted to go on this trip so badly so I'm staying out of all the background shit. You handle it so I can sit in the sand drinking a Mojito."
Goldie smiled. "It's already handled and the trip is on me so you can drink as many Mojito's as you want baby."
"Nah, I got the cost handled. Just tell me how much it is and I got it."
Princess looked up at me. "So that means we're going to Jamaica then, right?"
"Yeah," I mumbled.
The only reason I even agreed to this Jamaica trip was to make Princess happy since Goldie put the thought into her head in the first place. I'm a little upset at Goldie for even bringing it up in front of Princess as if I'm going to tell her 'no'. She know I won't tell her that but she also knows I have a business to run, just like her. And based off of my interactions with her siblings, I don't think leaving them in charge of the business is one of her best ideas.
She needs to be focused on pushing all this weight she convinced me to let them buy from me. I swore on everything I wasn't going to give Goldie and her family anything. I planned on letting them survive off of what they made in the past until they came begging to me for more weight since the three of them decided it was cool to just break into my house. But Goldie convinced me not to once we started messing around with each other again. I guess she got a nigga pussy whipped but I gotta snap out of this.
I can get pussy anywhere and from any female around here, but it's something about Goldie's that just keeps making me come back to her. Apart from what's in between her legs, her personality always draws me in too. I've been with my fair share of women but none as smart as Goldie. She's by far the smartest woman I've ever been with. She's smart when it comes to books as well as the streets but her street smarts are going to get the both of us in trouble one day.
I can't let Goldie, and what she has in between her legs, get in the way of business nor should I be mixing business with pleasure. When King and her father got together, they almost mixed out toxic families together but luckily we dodged that bullet before we even got in too deep. Goldie's going to be pissed at me but I can't keep distributing to her family if me and her have a personal relationship, way past the sex. I can't mix in our relationship with my professional life because people won't take me seriously.
And if I'm fucking with Goldie, then she needs to be on my team; her entire family needs to be on my team. I shouldn't be selling to them. We should be distributing this shit to everybody as one unit but I know shit doesn't work that way around here. Nobody wants to work together. Everybody wants to get their quick money on their own terms and I'm cool with that until it begins to effect the way I run my business.
~~~
Later that day, I found myself at my new spot. I had moved the product and weight around to different areas around the state because I guess I'm a little paranoid. I shouldn't have had everything in one place at once to begin with but then I started to get an unsettling feeling from Adonis, so I had to shut him out of the game until he gets his shit together.
This is our second move within a week and it's been tough on my guys. Shit. It's been tough on me too but I gotta protect the products until they get picked up and I can't have Adonis ruining any business plans I have.
Grandpa King sat down in front of my desk while I sat on the other side. "So what's up old man?" I asked since he was being all quiet.
"Nigga, you're the one that hit my line talking about you needed to talk to me about some stuff going on with profits and sells. What the fuck is going on? You can't sell nothing?"
I shook my head. "Nah, it's not that. Actually, sales have gone up about 30% since our last shipment. One of our older clients got into it with me awhile back so I charged them triple for the same amount of product they had been getting in the past," I told him. I might have went against my word and sold to Goldie's family but I still charged them more since Marquise came to my spot acting like an asshole. " We just have a few more keys that need to be picked up in a few hours and the rest left over will be for my guys to start pushing to generate some extra cash."
Grandpa nodded his head. "A'ight, sounds good to me. It sounds like you're on the right track so what's the issue? You got a problem that needs to be handled?"
"Yeah, somewhat."
Grandpa sighed. "What's going on? Somebody pop up from the past? Because you know niggas around here like doing that."
I shook my head. "Actually, it's not even anything like that and I think I can handle it by myself. I just don't know how to go about the situation. I don't know if I'm supposed to take action like I normally would if it wasn't a family member but since this nigga is a family member, then I don't really know how to go about the situation."
"They stealing money from you?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know but I moved all the weight and products so they don't get any ideas. They don't know where anything is at and I have some guys counting the money now to see if we're short or not."
"And if you are short?"
"Well, that's why I'm coming to you just in case we are short.I just odn't know what to do since the person has been acting really suspicious lately, especially since he was talking about there's no blood between us anymore and basically our relationship isn't important. I don't know if I should go to the extreme."
"Well, it depends on who it is."
I sighed. "It's Adonis," I replied. I didn't want to rat Adonis out to King but I needed to find a way to go about this situation. if it were anybody else, it would be no issue to kill them and keep it moving but Adonis is family. And not only is he family, but he's a part of the business so I couldn't just kill him without any thought and try to get over it. "I just can't see myself getting rid of him, especially since he's family. He's the only cousin I actually talk to. I can't kill him."
"Blood doesn't mean shit and you gotta realize that in this game. You didn't see me shed any tears over killing my son because that nigga deserved it and clearly Adonis does too if it's this serious that you had to come to me about. Sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do if you want your business to progress without people plotting against you in the background. We've given Adonis money and a job for years and for him to turn his back on us is the ultimate disrespect, so disrespect him the same way he's disrespected our family."
"But it's Adonis though? He don't mean half the shit he be talking."
"He knew what he was doing when he was stealing money from you and when he said that your blood doesn't mean anything. You want my honest opinion?"
"Yeah," I nodded my head.
"He gave you the OK to off him the moment he said he there wasn't any blood between the two of y'all, so fulfill his wishes and off that nigga and you need to do whatever it takes. Don't talk to him, don't let him explain himself, and don't give him any chances either. If you gotta sneak that nigga, then do it but make sure you do it soon because you need to stop that nigga before he gets out of control. What do you think made him flip?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "Honestly, that nigga's been power mad since we started working together. I think all the power is getting to him, and part of me thinks, he's some how going to run this business."
"That's some bull shit," Grandpa laughed. "I'll give the fucking business to your Dad before I hand it over to him. He's immature, trigger happy and doesn't think before he does shit. Adonis is a damn fool if he thinks I'm giving him anything, unless he has other plans."
"Like what?"
"What if he told you there's no blood between y'all because he's gonna get yours."
My eyes widened. "Like, kill me? That goofy nigga can't touch me."
"Shit, you never know. That would be the only way for him to take control of my business, would be if you, Isaiah and Daniel are dead."
"He can't be that crazy though, right?"
"He might not be but you can't never put nothing past these niggas though. As owner of the business I gave you, you must stay in control of what's going on around you, which always means staying a step a head of these people. Adonis might not want to kill y'all and take over the business but it's a possibility that he wants to. You need to get in the heads of these niggas Theodore. What has he done so far?"
"Nothing much, really. He's been laying low ever since I checked him about popping up on Aubrey and Jazmine, trying to ruin what they have going on. I don't know if he's hating on me and Aubrey's friendship but every time I check him or Aubrey says something to him because he's doing some suspicious shit, he always brings up the fact that I'm his cousin and should have his back over Aubrey's since Aubrey isn't blood. But he broke in on Jazmine, mind you she's pregnant, was ass naked in their house and wouldn't leave. As crazy as he's been acting lately, I don't know what the fuck he could've done to her if me and Aubrey hadn't have popped up. Once I checked him, he threw out the comment about us not having any blood between us anymore. At first I thought he was just mad about Aubrey saying something to him as his subordinate but I don't know anymore."
Grandpa nodded his head. "That nigga's a big time hater but those are the ones that you really gotta watch out for. They're willing to do anything to get what they want. I don't like that crazy broad Jazmine by any means, but boss or not, I'm cutting up on any male, female, or child if they put my woman or my child in danger because of their stupid shit."
"And that's what I was trying to explain to him but he wasn't hearing it."
"Oh, he's already got to the not listening stage, I see," Grandpa nodded his head. "It's no telling what else he's done or what else he's doing but you need to watch out for him. But in the mean time, have some of the guys check his whereabouts while you're setting up this homicide. I don't give a fuck if he's my cousin's grandson, that nigga has to go and you gotta make this kill as clean as possible. You feel me?"
I nodded my head. "What'chu want me to do?"
"I know we got a lot of heat on us so be careful about the police. I don't want any blood, guts, or body parts anywhere. I don't want you to beat this nigga. I don't want any guns involved. And I don't want any type of screaming involved that'll bring attention to anything. I want you to make it look like a suicide or harmful play. Make that nigga overdose on pills or some shit and make it some strong shit too so he can't come back from the dead too. And make sure y'all wipe the place down. Don't leave any finger prints anywhere."
"Alright, I can get that done. How soon do you need it done?"
"I need you to start working on it now because the longer he's alive, the more trouble you might possibly be getting into."
"Damn," I mumbled. Goldie just had to bring this Jamaica trip up as soon as shit started getting difficult around here.
"What?"
"I actually planned a trip for me and the kids, you know, to get us away from here and the madness in Georgia for awhile and I planned on leaving tonight. I wasn't expecting this shit with Adonis to pop up like this and it's not like I can cancel the trip either. Everything's solidified."
Grandpa smacked his lips. "Now, ain't that about a bitch? How long ago did you buy the tickets?"
"A few days ago. It was just spur of the moment."
"Shit. If the cops get involved, it'll look like all of this was premeditated and you're taking the trip to dodge the heat of his death. How about this, you take the trip and run the risk of him running his mouth to the wrong people or you stay your ass in Georgia and handle what the fuck you got going on over here. I don't know if you've noticed nigga, but y'all dumb ass kids been in a lot of fucked up shit with the cops the past few months. You were just locked up a few months ago, you just had the life choked out of you by Cashmere, your baby mama kidnapped you, your sister just went down for 15 years, and now some shit with Milan has popped off that your parents are trying to keep hidden from me. I really don't think now is the time to be going to Jamaica to fuck that stripper bitch."
I scrunched up my face. "Huh?"
"Nigga, you heard me. Just like how I told you to have Adonis watched, I'm having the rest of y'all mother fuckers watched too. I know you were just at lunch with her and Princess in Athens this afternoon from 12:36 to 2:04. You had a bacon cheese burgers, fries, and a Coke, Princess had chicken stri--"
"I get it, damn," I cut him off, sucking my teeth. "You know, if you didn't trust me to run the business, then maybe you shouldn't have put me in charge."
"Nigga, I put you in place. You're not in charge of shit because if you were, you wouldn't be running back to me for help."
"I'm running back to you out of respect for me, this family, and for the respect I have for you. I'm not running back to you for help. I respect your opinion because you're always able to see past the bull shit facades people are putting on but you're a damn two faced liar yourself. Don't put me in place of shit if you're gonna watch me like I'm incapable of running this business on my own. I've done it for the past five years successfully and I don't need to be watched like I'm some bitch. If I wanna take my daughter out to lunch, then I can. I don't want her turning into the fucking monster of a daughter you created."
"And you're that monster's son," he smiled. "I don't know why the fuck you so upset in the first place. I have everybody being watched. It's not because I don't have any respect for you, it's for your safety in case people try to sneak y'all. I need to be updated on everything going on in this family. I trust you Theodore, because if I didn't, I wouldn't have put you in place as head of my business and I wouldn't be talking to you now about the stupid shit you're doing. And little do you know, I have a lot of respect for you int he way you've run my business and how you've matured as a young man. I'm glad you didn't turn out to be a fuck boy like your fuck boy Dad."
I couldn't help but to laugh at him. I know he means no harm but I just hate him always breathing down my back. "I understand that but I'm nothing like him and my Mama. Lindsey got genes from the both of them but me and Isaiah aren't even like that."
"I know y'all aren't and that's why I don't want y'all to go down in case some shit jumps off with Adonis, so I'll take care of it."
"How so?"
"I'll force him to take the pills because who's gonna think an old man is gonna kill somebody? I'll get off for old age and I'll pretend like I'm crazy if I get caught," he shrugged, as if it was no big deal. "But you go on your little trip but we have some shit to discuss about that girl too. I don't care for her family and what they did to us, so I'm confused about why you're even bringing her around Princess like shit's okay. I know you're probably going off to Jamaica with her but a cute face doesn't take you very far Theodore. Don't let that girl get in your head and get you off track from what's most important. A'ight?"
I nodded my head as I heard the doorbell ring. "Hold on, I'll be back."
I stood up from my office chair and walked down the spiral staircase so I could answer the front door. As soon as I got to the front door, I had my face scrunched up when I saw the butler talking to a couple of detectives.
"Aye, I got the door," I told the butler. He nodded his head and walked off to the back as I approached the door, where the officers stood at. "Uh, how can I help y'all?"
"We're here to discuss the disappearances of Teandra Redford, Nicole Anderson, and Cashmere Taylor. You came up as a person of interest in their disappearances and as a person who might possibly know what became of them."
