"Here take my hoodie" Terrance said giving me the hoodie in his hand.

I immediately slid it on not wanting to get kicked out for only wearing a bra in a hospital. People were already staring since it was full in here. I knew I should've kept my damn hoodie on and take off it in Mir's grandma's car

"Thank you" I told him as a few tears fell

At this point I didn't know what to do. I mean what do you do when you see your best friend get shot and then not know if he's going to make it no matter how much you tried to help him?

"He's going to be okay baby. You know he ain't going out like that" He said pulling me into a hug

I rested my head on chest letting my tears fall freely as he comforted me

"Where is he? Where's my baby?" I heard Mir's mom yell through out the hospital

I quickly pulled away from him looking around seeing her come into view

"Nahla sweetie what happened?" She cried out once she reached me

"We were playing ball when shots rang and Mir was hit" I told her not wanting to even mention the fact that Mir was part of the shooting

"Oh my god"she covered her mouth crying as Mir's dad pulled her into a hug

"Are you okay? You have blood on you" He asked me

"Yeah I'm okay. The blood is Mir's. I was trying to make sure he didn't bleed out so I got blood all over me" I told him before they pulled away

Leilani looked at her parents walking out before turning to me with a serious face

"What really happened?" She asked once she made sure they weren't anywhere near us

"Some dudes started shooting causing Mir and them to shoot back but Mir got hit" I told her as more tears fell

"He's going to be okay" She pulled me into a hug

I was really getting tired of hearing "He's going to be okay" when in reality nobody knew. What if he wasn't? What if something happens during surgery? These white doctors love killing black folks

"Ima go check on mom" she said walking away

I rested my head against the wall trying to take deep breaths to prevent myself from freaking out and going crazy.

"He's gonna be good G and I know that for a fact so stop worrying. My bro good" Blast said snapping me out my thoughts

"Everyone keeps saying that but how y'all know? He's on an operating table. If he the bullet wasn't enough to kill him then can easily kill him and blame it on the bullet"

"We ain't gonna let that happen Lala. Have faith please. I called Paris she should be on her way here" he said and u simply nodded

"Aye we'll be back" Wooski said coming over to me giving me a hug

"Where you going?" I asked them seeing as they were all getting ready to leave

"We got some shit to handle" Leek said letting me know exactly what they were up too.

"Let me come with" I told them wiping my tears

I wanted revenge for this shit.

"Oh hell no yo ass on drugs thinking we gonna bring you along. Polo will kill us all if anything happened to you" Wooski shook his head shutting it down

"I don't care. I'll deal with him but right now I want the niggas head"

"Nope ain't happening sis. You stay here and keep us updated on everything we'll be back" Blast said kissing my forehead before walking away

I started to follow but Terrance pulled me back

"Nope hell no I ain't letting you. I already let you have yo way once and look what happened. Could've gotten yo ass killed out there all cause yo stubborn ass ain't wanna leave the park. You ain't going with them" He shrugged pulling me to the seating area.

I snatched my hand from his grip going to sit on the other side of the hospital

To say I was heated that I couldn't go was an understatement. They steady acting like I can't do shit they do.

I was snapped out my thoughts when my phone started ringing.

I quickly got up walking away from everyone answering the phone once I seen it was Tez

"Hello"

"Yo where the fuck are you? You ain't been home since last night ku. Ain't even tell granny where yo ass gonna be at" He yelled through the phone

"Tez please don't" I cried

I was already feeling like shit so the last thing I needed was for my big brother to start going off on me.

"What's wrong Lala? Where you at lady bug?" His voice soften at the hear of my cries

"At Stroger. Mir was shot" I cried harder

I don't why but just hearing his voice made me want to break down.

"I'm on my way. Don't cry no more baby girl. I'll be there in 5" He said hanging up

Relieve filled my body knowing my brother was going to be here with me. I just needed him here.

I went to the bathroom so I could splash some water on my face.

Walking in I walked to the sink turning it on grabbing some water in my hands splashing my face with it. I grabbed some tissue wiping my face as I stared at myself in the mirror. I looked a mess. Eyes all puffy and red from crying. Makeup everywhere. I looked down seeing blood all on my legs since I was wearing shorts.

I tried to wipe some off but it was impossible. I was going to be here all night trying to get the blood off.

I threw everything away walking out.

"Nahla" I heard someone yell

I looked around seeing Tez jogging towards me with Dre right behind him. I don't know why he brought that nigga when he know what happened the other day.

"Hey" I said softly hugging him

"You good? Why you covered in blood?" He asked inspecting my body.

"Yeah I'm okay. This is Mir's blood."

"We need to get going" Dre said not even bothering to say anything to me

"I'm not going anywhere until I find out of Mir is okay"

"Nah yo ass leaving. Fuck you doing over here anyways"

"Bro the fuck? Can't you see she's hurting and yo ass over here yelling and shit" Tez said coming to my defense

"That's why she's the way she is. Cause all ya'll spoil her. Knows no damn respect"

"Respect? You really wanna talk to me about respect?" I charged towards him but Tez pulled me back

"Not now"He pushed me behind him "Bro take my car and dip. I'll stay here with her and order an uber once everything's clear" He handed him the keys

Dre looked at me one last time shaking his head before walking way

"Now do you believe me when I tell you he hates me?" I asked Tez

"He don't hate you. He just I don't even know but come on" He pulled me to the seating area again.

I sat down next to him leaning my head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around me

"Thank you for coming" I told him

"You know I wouldn't leave you alone in these type of situations"

I stayed quite letting my thoughts take over my head until I eventually fell asleep.

"Family of Jamir Coleman" I heard the doctor say causing me to jump out my sleep

"That's us" His dad said as we walked over to him

"Is it okay?" I asked

"He's good. Luckily the bullet didn't hit any major organs so it was it easy getting it out. Also whoever thought about putting the shirt on the wound and applying pressure helped save his life because that stopped a lot of blood from falling out" He said making me feel weird in away 4

Like I actually helped saved my best friends life. Thanks to my mom though because she's the one that told to always use some type of dressing item and apply pressure so that the blood clots and seals the wound instead of linking out.

"Can we see him?" Lani asked

"Yes you may. Only two at a time though"

They said thank you to him once they got all the information. I decided to let everyone go first so that they can see him.

I walked back to take a seat staring out the window looking towards the sky.
